December 31st, 2022:

Last post of 2022.  I'd hoped to have been more active here in the 
underdark this year, but never really made it a priority.  I'm still a 
little burned out regarding the online world, and still have 
little-to-no patience for people and what passes for discourse these 
days, whether online or real world.

I've reactivated a few of my Fediverse accounts, mostly to reconnect with 
the admittedly few people I missed, but also to see which of my friends 
have made the jump from Twitter (so far, only my wife has).  This will be 
my fourth go-round with Mastodon, and so far it's been a mixed bag.  I'm 
sure this Twitter Exodus will end soon enough... people are creatures of 
habit, and I suspect most of the casual users will scurry back to the 
Devil-they-know in short order.  Which is fine by me.  Frankly, I liked 
having a space untouched by the masses.

But... you're not here to hear me go off on an anti-societal rant (at 
least, I *hope* you're not), so I'll finish up by wishing you all a Happy 
New Year, and all the best in 2023.
