July 3rd, 2023 BONUS POST! Wherein I answer @cosullivan's Five Questions for July[1]: 1. What's your favourite way to stay active? Cycling. I don't do it as often as I'd like, but it's still my favourite way to get exercise. 2. What's the best way to stay focused and productive? Coffee, and an overarching sense of duty. 3. If you could have any sport or game instantly mastered, unrelated to your current interests or abilities, which one would you choose and why? Archery. Thanks to my GURPS campaigns, I've taken an interest in historical Central Asian cultures. Specifically the Scythians, who were infamous for their horse archery skills. 4. Share with me an interesting trivia tidbit about your favourite historical event. Hugging a bitter enemy and consoling each other upon hearing of the September 11th attacks. 5. Share a summer recipe. I'm sharing this Biscotti recipe I discovered in 2001. It's my daughter's favourite. * Exported from MasterCook II * BISCOTTI (Italian Sheet Cookies) Recipe By : Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Biscotti Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 6 eggs 1 1/2 cups sugar 1 cup shortening melted (1/2 butter and 1/2 oil 3 cups flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 4 teaspoons extract (anise, almond vanilla or lemon) Beat eggs well. Add sugar, then shortening and extract. Add flour and baking powder. Pour into ungreased 9x13 pan. Bake 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. When baked slice into 3 rows. Cut in slices. Lay slices on cookie sheet and brown under broiler. (Take it from me, though. You'll probably want to cook the biscotti a little longer. I find 15-20 minutes leaves the biscotti undercooked. I usually do 25-30 mins) [1] gopher://sdf.org:70/0/users/christyotwisty/phlog/2023-July-Five-Questions.txt
