17 June 2021 I went to my first union meeting today. It was to ask for a mandate to plan a ballot for industrial action. There is some tomfoolery going on with having let too many people leave, needing contractors, company not engaging with union in right way, full timers needing to take 2 weeks unpaid and what not. It was a meeting which reminded me of South Park where a crowd just say 'rabble rabble rabble' making noise. The issue is a sensible one and the company are not engaging as they should. However, stopping the 2 weeks unpaid holiday will not lead to not needing contractors. It is about the principle really. I then had a company meeting which was trying to show there is lots of opportunities and a bright future. Might need to polish the CV...
