28 July 2021 The past couple of days have been practical. I spent yesterday making some silver bracelets for my mum. They are simple bracelets with a hammered texture. It was the first time doing some silversmithing for some time and I was struggling a bit with the flux. I hate borax cones and having to form a paste by grinding the cone. I need to look at alternatives. I also need a bigger blow torch. My diddy affair is not quite good enough for larger than rings. Anyhow, it was fun bashing metal again. Today was spent fixing up some scratches on my car's front bumper. In 2018, a whole 6 months after getting it, I managed to hit a large boulder which I climbed over to reach the driver's seat. Sheer stupidity but such is life. After many years, I suppose it is time to heal those scars with a rub down, banging some primer one and then spraying the car with some new paint. It is currently curing but seems to have come out alright. Tomorrow should be finishing it off with a bit of a rub down and then sealing with clear lacquer. Tomorrow is also a trip to Slapton to see the sea and a fresh water lake. It is an interesting area where a road goes between the sea and a fresh water lake. It was also the focal point of a terrible incident during World War 2 where D day preparations were interrupted by an E-boat appearing and causing havoc. In that havoc, many people lost their lives in an incident which remained secret for many years. Now there is a Sherman tank which was retrieved from the sea bed to serve as a memorial of that terrible event.
