My name is Tom, and I live in Litchfield County, Connecticut in a 19th Century New England farmhouse with my life partner, our two kids, and assorted pets. I'm an Amateur Radio operator. My callsign is W1WSO. I've been licensed since 1984, originally with the callsign KA2UCP. I've also held the calls KB1LKV and K7WSO. At present, my interest in the hobby are is military radio equipment of the World War II to Cold War eras (1941-1992). My day job involves embedded Linux systems, but you won't hear me talk about them much. You might see some stuff on retro-computing as I occassionally ressurect old machines. I'm also an amateur historian. I put together displays for a military history museum run by friends of mine. If you visited the military living history event at the FDR Home in Hyde Park, NY on Memorial Day you've probably seen my displays. I'm presently enrolled at SNHU working on a BS in Computer Science, with a concentration in Information Security. I refer to my gopherspace as "Dog Solitude" because my workshop often reminds me of and resembles William Gibson's Dog Solitude from Mona Lisa Overdrive. No huge robots yet, but give it time.
