------------------------------------------------------------ Reply/Technology, (sdf.org), 09/13/2018 ------------------------------------------------------------ I like jynx's description of their "personal computing ecosystem"[1]. The idea of everything actings as a "dumb" terminal for a main system (a Pi in this case) is neat, especially when the "dumb" terminals are magnitudes more powerful than the host they are connecting to. Someone, somewhere recently remarked about how this imbalance was somewhat normal when considering how powerful GPU's are these days compared to their host computers... I can't recall where I read that though. Currently, I'm looking for ways to legitimately get my z80 SBC "online." It suits my wants for computing power (when coupled with its terminal), apart from the fact that I don't have dialup service to use the internet with it. If I was single, I'd dump the cable modem and try SDF's dialup, but as it stands the family would probably kill me... so, I'll have to find a way to emulate that I suppose. I *could* use a Pi connected to the second TTL serial port on the SBC, which would give me a login prompt and wifi... [1] gopher://gopher.club:70/0/users/jynx/phlog/20180912.post
