Web cookies (sdf.org), 12/04/2019

(PECR) sit alongside the Data Protection Act and the GDPR. 
They give people specific privacy rights in relation to 
electronic communications."

And with that, we get a new slew of annoying popus that 
inform us of our special rights, while simultaneously 
prompting us (with no real choice) to cede those rights. 
Thanks government(s)!

Most of my websites are gone, these days, because I Just 
Don't Care Anymore(TM). The only one left is dead simple, 
text and some CSS only, with no JS or cookies. And so, I 
have no annoying popup (let's get real though, I wouldn't 
have one anyway, because I'm a rebel).

Which leads me to wonder: do people see that there is no 
special magic cookie disclaimer, and distrust my website 
because I'm not haranguing them?! "This guy isn't warning 
me, he must be a PIRATE come to STEAL all my personal 
information!!!"

(Then again, I don't have HTTPS on that website either, 
because I'm a crusty guy. I might turn that on though, if I 
can just get over myself.)

Anyway, this is gopher, and none of this really matters. The 
web is gonna do what the web is gonna do, and as long as it 
causes money to move around, the capitalists and the 
socialists will all be happy about it. But man, those cookie 
notices are really annoying. Just one more reason to stay 
away from the www.
