Found the "Final Fantasy V Four Job Fiesta" [0] again, as I do every year around this time. Despite never having played 5, only ever completing one mainline FF game before (though I've played more), and not being sure how much I want to dedicate to video games... the idea intrigues me. Maybe this year I'll join. It starts in 18 days, and I'll have until the end of August. Plus there's a lot of charity donations involved by others, I will likely donate myself as well. Could be worth it to try. I suppose there's no penalty for quitting other than pride. ================ Made some work on my "do" list. Hit some major milestones on my wiki project last night. Looks like I have some minor config setup left, then I just have to finish designing and print the case for it all. The setup is a Raspberry Pi (Zero W), charging circuit+battery, and a flash drive. Very generally, the hope is to have a very small, portable device that will host my personal wiki to better manage projects and interests. With the flip of a switch, it goes from being a wifi client to a wifi host, so I don't have to have internet connection to be able to connect to it (though having connection would allow it to upload its own backups, integrate with my home webpage, etc). When in host mode, it also broadcasts a PirateBox station. It's mostly unnecessary - how often will I really be without internet but need to update my own wiki? How many people do I think will ever interact with the PirateBox? I'm not going to try to convince myself that that stuff is essential. It's just fun to set up and get working. When this gets finished, I'll be extremely proud of myself. Though it's a simple idea I wanted to incorporate some stuff I don't have a lot of experience with - soldering/basic circuitry, 3D design from scratch, and web setup/configuration. I think it was an ambitious project for me but a totally doable one. I'm happy with where I am and with what's left to do. Very excited to get it working and start using it. ================ [0] http://fourjobfiesta.com
