FreeDOS Networking - Zimaboard Here is the account of how I finally got networking on FreeDOS and a Zimaboard 832 going. I never could get the older ODI method going, so I switched the newer NDIS method using files from MSCLENT 3.0 with success! I am using the January 2025 build of mTCP on FreeDOS1.4-r2. This is my working configuration on a Zimaboard 832 with Realtek 8168 NIC. *FreeDOS 1.4 (though I have no reason to believe 1.3 or prior would not work just fine) *mTCP January 2025 release (same as above, no reason to believe older version would not work ok) *I needed to get the MSCLIENT 3.0 files, my best source was here: https://archive.org/details/MSCLIENT30 files DSK3-1.EXE and DSK3-2.EXE (I believe these to be good Microsoft files) NOTE: I tried another source and that did not seem quite right. Sticking with these. *I also needed the NDIS driver RTGND.DOS file for the Realtek 8168 NIC in the Zimaboard, from here (thanks Omar Yabar!): https://packetdriversdos.net Specifically: https://packetdriversdos.net/ZIP/RTGBND2.1.54_EXE68.ZIP Additionally, I needed the DIS_PKT.DOS driver. Linked also from Omar's site: https://packetdriversdos.net/ZIP/dis_pkt11.zip **Alternately, you can get the Realtek 8168 driver straight from the manufacturer. Go to the following page, scroll down to the DOS files section, get the GBE NDIS2 driver. Realtek DOS GBE NDIS2 Driver *I followed the directions to install and configure MSCLIENT NDIS here: https://help.fdos.org/en/hhstndrd/network/ndis_ins.htm *Configured the mTPC TCP/IP utilities that were in the FreeDOS installation, (thanks Mike Brutman!): Used information from the main mTCP site https://www.brutman.com/mTCP/, specifically: mTCP_2025-01-10.pdf and https://help.fdos.org/en/hhstndrd/network/mtcp.htm Here is the full collection of files that were necessary. These are ready to use. Just unzip to a folder on your FreeDOS C: drive. Use that folder name in the configuration of FDAUTO.BAT and FDCONFIG.SYS described in the instructions above. http://wa5pb.com/NETFILES.ZIP VOILA!!!
