       *The Lynx Boot USB
(Rather a "Lynx Live" disto, but no so much Linux)
Plain text is beatiful. Now, it's portable.

       *How?
The fastest booting OS I could find was FreeDOS. This has some serious
drawbacks, but the boot speed is amazing and you can pull out your usb
after boot. No cookies are saved, hence excellent privacy. Any
old PC that will boot USB will work. (2025 update - OLD PC, you need
BIOS) Hit 'v' to see gopher news sites I added to the bookmarks.

*What drawbacks? (Did I mention requirements?)
       BIOS ONLY, no UEFI.
So far, it only works with Intel, Broadcom and Realtek ethernet cards
as every thing I threw at it had one of these cards. Obviously
requires usb. (could create a iso pending demand) Did I mention
       it boots fast?

*Can it work for other cards?
Any ethernet card that has a working driver should work fine.
I know of no better list than this, ask nicely and I'll add yours:
  HTML MORE Drivers

       *Instructions:
Download the file below, bunzip, and then use unetbootin to write
       it to usb.
Note - it's an img, not an iso - select the correct option!

       Download

       *What were you thinking?
Seemed like a fun idea at the time. The challenge was not unlike
a crossword or soduku. Finding it actually works well, I post it
here in the hopes that perhaps somebody else may make use of it.
Grab that pentium4 with the bad HD and put it to use!

       * Why didn't you... (Fill in the blank)
Not - Dos - Expert. Suggestions welcome. To answer one question,
himem crashed the realtek driver which is why it's disabled.

       *To do list:
       Give option for large font
       Prettier gophermap
Maybe include Links... the "Lynx/Links" usb boot disk
More ethernet drivers. We hit on that, didn't we?
       Default text colors are ugly
Documention on "How it's made" (a pain to get an img right)
       Go to grocery store
       Save future world from Morlocks

       *License
Everything used here is GPLv2, expect for the parts that aren't.
