Hello and welcome to this Gopher hole about Karaite Judaism.
Explanations will follow, but this is the only surviving non-rabbinic form of
Judaism. It relies on the simple, plain understanding of the Written Torah -
Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. It accepts the Writings
and the Prophets as Divinely inspired. It does not recognize an "Oral Torah"
said to be given to Moses on Mount Sinai, nor does it view the Talmud or the
Mishnah as anything but writings of men. There are no rabbis. There are
traditions and commentaries that try to flesh out the Torah for everyday life,
but these are not inspired. The unofficial motto is "Research everything and
don't rely solely on my opinion."
