       (Mid 90's Crisis)

I know what I was doing in '94. I was BBSing, reading alt.magick, and
digging into gopher for MUD links. And, I was very lonely, feral,
unsupervised, and 15. I've been able to move forward from those dark
times by abandoning sentiment and attachment to the familiar and by
focusing on progress and growth. I had mostly disdain for nostalgia and
sentiment, it seemed like dead weight. Now in 2020, I'm pretty happy, I
have a great relationship, and have a life together, and am phlogging on
gopher, and thinking about loading up tin and seeing if alt.magick is full
of wizards and witches discussing Gematria.

I'd like to think that there's some greater value to the world in sdf.org
and this world of retro internet. And no doubt there is a need for what
sdf offers, more signal less noise, privacy, and control. But to be
perfectly honest, I'm just finally surrendering to nostalgia. The boomers
had their Happy Days, I have my retro-net, and the Millenials will be just
be playing Pokemon all the way through the end of their years. They seem
to be born nostalgic, nostalgic about things they never even lived, even.
       I can hang with that.
