Software resources for classic Macintosh (system 6/7/8)
Here are my main sources for (old AND new!) software for classic Macs.
BEWARE: if you use a Gopher browser that doesn't convert https links
(like Lagrange, which is primarily a (very sleek) Gemini browser), you
will not see clickable resources - that's why I always provide the link
in text as well. So better use a REAL Gopher client. I prefer Gophie on
my modern MacOS machine.
Here we go:
Joshua Klein writes new, modern software on his classic Mac that runs
System 6. He documents and shares a lot of his knowledge and adventures.
Great read and great software. I use his Wikipedia browser, his IRC
client (wallops). He even wrote a complete versioning system for classic
macs, a 'github' for our old machines! He also runs his own BBS on
classic Mac.
His site is https://jcs.org.

A really good source for software is the Macintosh Garden. They even
provide ftp access to their vast collection.
They are on https://macintoshgarden.org.

Closely related (some say it's a clone) to the Macintosh Garden is the
Macintosh Repository. True or not, they even provide their own client
with which you can search and download software on your classic Mac (MR
Browser). Very cool if you have internet access on your vintage machine.
