The Backroad to Civilization
December 28th, 2013:
I've had a chance to fool with some heretofore unknown (to me) things here
on SDF, thanks to my daughter who is teething at the moment... therefore
very much awake at 1am.
The first thing I learned today was how to mount my SDF home folder
locally on my Linux box using sshfs. I used the tutorial on the SDF
website, which gave me the rundown, but neglected to tell you what to do
if your local username is different from your SDF username. No biggie, I
figured it out pretty quick.
The tutorial is here, for any interested parties:
HTML SSHFS-SDF
Once I had that done, I went in and archived my gopher site and backed it
up to my local Linux box, destined for flash media and safekeeping. I'm
planning to back up my blog next.
So that's it, just learnin' me some basic unix functionality I should
probably have learned years ago...
