Altered Carbon

As I mentioned previously, I'm a single parent this and next week.
After the kids go to bed, I'm now too tired to do anything on the
computer, my mind is spent, so I'm taking the opportunity to binge
watch Netflix series and movies which I had bookmarked for later.
In the last days, I've watched the first season of Altered Carbon and
I have to say it is very good. Of course I think there are some holes
in the story, but it's hard to avoid these when creating a scifi
world so different than ours in technological terms.
In sociological terms, the problems are very similar to our current
ones and I can't help but to apply the same projection to a future
when AI is present. AI won't be used to reduce differences between
classes, to the contrary it will be directly use to push them apart.
If people complain about capitalism creating inequalities (and I am
not one of them, because I favor capitalism), they have no idea what
AI will be like.
But back to the series, the concept of "artificial", or man-made,
reincarnation and its conflict with traditional religious teachings
needs a lot of discussion as well. I feel I could spent days
discussing with friends this and other topics worked in the series.
