My daughter had texted me earlier this morning letting me know that
David Lynch had passed. There was sadness. She knew that I
enjoyed his art. I had a meeting to attend to so I set my thoughts
aside regarding his passing for the moment.

After my meeting, I decided to head on over to one of my favorite
places to get a slice of cherry pie and a damn fine cup of coffee.
This was at the House of Pies, which is where I am at now.[1]

A friend of mine and I had been talking about Twin Peaks just the
other day and I mentioned that I would like to revisit. It looks
like I am m0ar inclined to do so.

Several years ago, I had the opportunity to meet David Lynch. He
was doing a signing at Amoeba Music for his Lime Box set when the
store was on Sunset Blvd. There was a line going around the store
and out the door. I stood in line and was finally able to meet
him. He appeared to me like how I've seen him in Twin Peaks as
Gordon Cole, except he didn't talk as loud. He seemed friendly
and like some older folks I know around town. I told him that I
enjoyed his TV show and films...yeah, I was a bit star struck and
didn't know what to say. He signed my copy of the Lime Box set
with the phrase, "my dog barks some."[2] I got a kick out of
       that.

I think that the last thing I watched by him was the 3rd season of
Twin Peaks. I liked his Crazy Clown Time music album...I think he
had released other albums since then...I should check them out
       sometime.

One summer for the whole summer my friends and I were obsessed with
his film, Wild At Heart. We just kept reciting lines, re-renting
the video cassette, playing the soundtrack, going on road trips
blaring the soundtrack and saying lines from the film. Sailor,
with his snake skin jacket that symbolized his individuality and
his belief in personal freedom...Lula, thinking that the whole
world is wild at heart and weird on top...Jingle Dell making his
lunch...Bobby Peru with his nasty teeth and getting Lula all hot
and bothered while Sailor's gone...man, I gotta watch that one
       again!

Even though he has passed I know his works will continue to stay
with me. I wonder if David is also eating a slice of cherry pie
and having a damn fine cup of coffee in the Black Lodge along with
Laura Palmer, Bob, Log Lady, The Man From Another Place, the
Giant, and the other characters in Twin Peaks. David, you will be
       missed!
