I'm in the city of Lost Wages, Nevada, again. I'm here tagging
along with my wife since she has a convention to work. I don't
really have much to do so I have just been hanging out, trying not
to spend much money. We both needed to get away, but
unfortunately, this is a working trip for her.

We are staying at the MGM Signature. I hear it is nicer than the
MGM Grand, across the way. The hotel is more like a high-rise
condo in a gated community. There are 3 towers here and the rooms
are really nice and spacious, especially for extended stay. The
room had 2 bathrooms with 2 showers, jacuzzi tub, separate living
room, and a full kitchen with stove, oven, dishwasher, etc.
Definitely very comfortable to stay here for extended periods, but
a bit overkill for our stay. I still enjoyed it, but
unfortunately, my wife did not so much, since she was busy working
at the convention for work. So again, I got to enjoy the resort
while she was busy with work. Bummer, but not really such a bad
thing since I don't really like to interact with her when she is in
       work mode.

I've been doing a lot of walking since I've been here, which is
kinda not by choice. I realized I forgot my insulin when we were
at the gate at the airport. Not a good thing. So I have been
doing a lot of walking and closely monitoring my blood sugar. Good
thing I wear a CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitoring sensor, which has
been a big game changer since I started using it a few years ago.
If I had the old system of pricking my fingers to test my blood
sugar, I would probably not do it and end up getting sick.
Unfortunately, much of the time has been spent walking around
Vegas to bring my blood sugars down and also disciplining myself
with eating properly (un-fun in Sin City.) So on Monday, I walked
26,876 steps and yesterday, 26,971 steps. This is about 13.6
miles / 21.9 kilometers, according to my watch. Not sure how
accurate, but whatever. At least there is some kind of reference
       point.

So on my walks, I was able to find a 7-ELEVEn in this shopping
plaza that was sandwiched between White Castle on one side and
Sbarros on the other side. Behind the 7-ELEVEn was a large weed
dispensary, Liquor World, and a Dunkin' Donuts. I did eat my lunch
that day at White Castle and got me some supplies from
7-ELEVEn...then the walk back where I saw several unhoused...some
doing the fentanyl fold, the nests of the unhoused, and a blonde
working girl, a little worse for wear with 2 black eyes and missing
teeth. Hard times to be had going down that road. My prayers
go out to them. Good thing I made it back without incident.
       Only in Vegas.
