# Num ab domo absum? On Thursday I ordered a birthday present for my wife as I usually work from home Fridays so I could take the delivery. The package had been sent by DHL Express and they do next day delivery within Germany. As the package's origin was Leipzig that should be no problem. I was genuinely surprized when I got the message at 9:52 in the morning saying "Sorry, we missed you." There was no one at the door, no delivery van in the street and no one rang the doorbell. No note in the mailbox either. As DHL Express is a separate division of course they have yet another tracking site where you can login after they sent you a code on your phone. Which I had not received even after clicking on the resend button. After a while - when they all already expired - they arrived one after the other... After retrying a couple of times I managed to log in and see that they dropped off the package at the nearby post office. I am sure that they were never in our street and dropped it off directly at the post office. I can walk that 700 m, but this is not what I am paying for and in this case this was the only option the vendor provided for delivery. --- It snowed again during the night, but now it largely melted.
