# No 3G

We have new neighbors from Ukraine. The owners of the flat dropped a
letter into everyone's mailbox to inform us and to ask that maybe we
could share our wlan access with the family (mother, 2 children and
mother-in-law).

From an email at work I learned that Telekom is giving away free SIM
cards to refugees from Ukraine with an unlimited data plan. They only
require some Ukrainian ID as all SIM cards have to be registered in
Germany. So I just wrote an email to the landlord informing him about
this as I really just would not like to share our internet access even
with the guest option in the router. He did not know about the free
cards and wrote me back that they would visit a Telekom shop the next
day.

I offered my old MiFi device and I'm just glad that they did not take
it. I bought myself a data SIM to use with that old Huawei, but as it
turned out O2 shut down their 3G network last year. I was wondering
why the device only found 2G networks and thought that I messed up the
configuration. So I ordered a new LTE mobile router as we do not have
enough electro gadgets lying around......

After 5 years I also bought a new phone and the switch was really easy
as almost every setting has been copied. Almost... The setting to
dowload my music library even using mobile data was on. I wanted to
listen to some music at work and it started downloading everything
which successfully used up all the data in my data plan for this
month. Not so cool... But the reduced speed (64 kbps) is still more
than enough to read some phlogs :)

One of our customers switched software versions and they had problems
with a setting on circuit diagrams in the new version. So they wanted
me to develop a quick solution to switch this setting off and disable
it for the user. Originally we should have had a meeting about this on
Monday, however they postponed it till Friday afternoon. And then at
the end they said casually, oh, we have a rollout on Monday and the
team in India is managing that so with the time zones and all please
be ready on Monday morning.

Well, thank you for telling me that on Friday. In the afternoon. 
It's not much, small class, tiny method and the corresponding call
from the circuit diagram. The research on how to do this took a lot of
time, so I was almost over my 10 hours that you are allowed to work a
day here. And management is checking that, even my boss had some
trouble that he was still logged in late.

I had no time to test it, so I have to begin at 6 in the morning on
Monday to have a chance to finish it.
