Five Questions October ====================== 2025-10-28 It's been quite a while that I posted something, but there were *reasons*, trust me! I will probably make a long post about this. But I found a nice way to get started again: Christina's October 2025 Five Questions. Christina's Phlog post here. gopher://zaibatsu.circumlunar.space:70/0/~christina/christina-2025-10-5Q.txt Questions: ---------- - 1. What's your favourite item to cook in October? - Looking back, the thing I made most in October was traybake dinners. Basically, you would roast potato slices, vegetables and a protein source of you choice after tossing them with oil or Creme Fraiche. The kids really like it and it's a versatile principle. Plus, you can pop it in the oven and do something else. What I *would like* to cook is a bit different. I am a great fan of Nigel Slater and I always wanted to make a nice roast again. He recently wrote about roast pheasant, which I never tried, but I think I might give it a go: Nigel Slater's kitchen diary: an indulgent roast pheasant https://observer.co.uk/style/food/article/nigel-slaters-kitchen-diary-an-indulgent-roast-pheasant Since it's only a few days left in October, this might be something for November though. - 2. What films have you watched over and over again? - I liked these movies when I was 38 and I still like them. o The Shawshank Redemption: a timeless classic, but "rewatching" here means maybe once a year. o The Pianist: same as above, this is not a movie I can rewatch more than that. o The LotR series. o Grand Budapest Hotel: the aesthetics remind me of Austria, where I lived for ten years. - 3. Have you ever meditated for spiritual purposes? If yes, describe your experience. - I have not. I am not a very "spiritual" guy and I never really got a satisfactory explanation of what spirituality is. That being said, I have meditated and I can see the benefits. But you have to make a strong habit out of it. - 4. What objects from your childhood have you saved? Explain why. - A stuffed mouse that I received as a baby. My daughters "inherited" it from me. It looks like this: Mouse. mouse.jpg - 5. When you feel sad, what do you do to find comfort? - There is a set of songs that I like to listen to when I get melancholic. In times of serious despondancy, I usually turn my wife.
