Yesterday I saw the following on Securityfocus.

"The maintainer has responded to advise users to migrate to PyGopherd, as
UMN gopherd has been removed from the distribution and is no longer supported."

Sometime ago two Vulnerabilities showed up in the UMN gopherd, and on the 
mailing.unix.bugtraq two example exploits was posted along with infomation about 
where in the code, the weakness was to be found.
Later another vulnerability was found in do_command in gopher.c, was the same 
problem, a bufferoverflow. 

I have tried to fixed those holes and replaced tempnam with mkstemp calls
in gopherd.c

So I have clean mine up for 3.0.5 and made it look the same as his
