It was WWF Superstars 2 for the original GameBoy. It has no colours, no effects, and nothing but a few wrestlers. The good thing about this game at that time was the Cage Match. There weren't so many games that has this type of matches at that time. I grew up with those wrestling games and I still play them, but now on the new systems. Recently, I don't know what happened to me. I returned back to my stored old games. I even play them more than the new games! This game, WWF Superstars 2, is one of the games I play now. You know, pro wrestling games evolves a year after another. Now, they're really different. The WWF itself is really different at the moment. Even the name has changed (WWF --> WWE). The World Wrestling Entertainment license holders are also differing each periods of years. Currently, THQ is the holder of the license. In WWF Superstar 2's days, the holder was a company called Ljn!? I haven't even heard of a company called Ljn. Before the holder becomes THQ, a famous company called Acclaim was the holder for a while, releasing lots of WWF games, and nearly all of them were successful. Well, I think I've talked really much this time. If you'd like to ask me a question, or if you have some comments, corrections, or additions, then feel free to contact me... <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Email: BaDBoY_@go.com MSN Messenger: pink_heat@hotmail.com <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ========================================================================== ================== B. Updates History ================== Here, you can see all about what's been updated in the version of this FAQ. Version 1.0 06/24/2003 Size: 21.1 KBs -------------------------------------------------------------------------- O It was the first release of this FAQ. O Brainstormed the whole ideas, thinking of a good layout, and the things I'm about to write about. O Started the FAQ. O Made an ASCII art, made a searching method, and wrote the following sections... - Disclaimer - Contents - Introduction - Basics - The Wrestlers - The Move List - Types of Matches - Frequently Asked Questions - Conclusion O Well, this FAQ did take only 8 days from my long holiday, BTW. :) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Version 2.0 08/09/2003 Size: 25.2 KBs -------------------------------------------------------------------------- O Corrected some move names from the WWF Superstars 2 instruction manual. O Added one move also from the WWF Superstars 2 instruction manual. O Added Out-of-the-Ring Action from the manual. O Added the information and the heights of the wrestlers from the manual. O Deleted the "Things I Need to Complete This FAQ" section because I may not be adding anything else to the guide. O Updated some sections, and corrections and additions made randomly. O Changed a question in the FAQ's section. O Added a secret, which I personally didn't see it work. O Added two sites to host my FAQs from now on: IGN FAQs and Cheats.de. O This will surely be the last update for the guide. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ========================================================================== ______________________________________________________________________ / \$ ( I I . B a s i c s ) \______________________________________________________________________/ =========== A. Starting =========== You start the game with selecting the number of players (1 or 2). I have not ever tried Two Players games, so if there is anything extra, tell me please. After that, you select the type of the match (One on One, Tag Team, or Tournament). Next, you choose the style of the match (Regular or Cage). And then, you choose the difficulty of the CPU. Finally, you choose one of the six wrestlers available. The match, then, begins. ========================================================================== ================= B. In-Game Screen ================= While playing, the top of the screen shows the healths of each wrestler. When there's nothing, that means that the wrestler is really tired, and is going to be defeated by a Pin Fall. If that happens to you, press SELECT before you're defeated to refill your health to max. You can only do this once BTW. ========================================================================== ================== C. After the Match ================== After the match, you can either re-play the match, or return to the main menu. However, if you're playing the Tournament, instead of the re- play option, there will be the option of playing the next match. ========================================================================== ========================= D. Out-of-the-Ring Action ========================= The following was copied from the WWF Superstars 2 instruction manual. WWF Superstars 2 allows the action to spill out of the ring, where it can continue on the arena floor. All offensive and defensive moves apply outside the ring, but there are three important points to remember: (1) The action can only continue to the sides and in front of the ring. (2) You may only return to the ring through the side ropes. (3) You must return to the ring before the 10-count is completed, or you will be counted out of the match! ========================================================================== ========== E. Secrets ========== Again, I haven't seen this working, but since IGN.com said it, here's it. <> Fight Outside the Ring At the Ring Select screen, press A, B, UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, START to fight outside the ring. ______________________________________________________________________ / \% ( I I I . T h e W r e s t l e r s ) \______________________________________________________________________/ I must say that the information of the wrestlers were taken from the manual. ============= A. Hulk Hogan ============= A.K.A. The Immoral Hulk Hogan. From: Venice Beach, California. Height: 6'8". Weight: 303 pounds. Information: When the Immortal Hulk Hogan charges to the ring, flexes his massive biceps (his "24-inch pythons"), and salutes the crowd, his legions of fans - his Hulkamaniacs - go wild! Hulkamania has broken loose... and there's no stopping it now! ========================================================================== ============ B. Macho Man ============ A.K.A. Macho Man Randy Savage. From: Sarasota, Florida. Height: 6'2". Weight: 245 pounds. Information: One of the most flamboyant wrestlers the WWF has ever known, "Macho Man" Randy Savage is also one of the most formidable. His unique blend of strength, speed, stamina, agility and aerial ability makes him extremely dangerous in and out of the ring! ========================================================================== ============== C. Sid Justice ============== From: West Memphis, Arkansas. Height: 6'9". Weight: 318 pounds. Information: The steely look of determination in Sid's eyes matches the ironlike cast of the muscles on his massive frame. This is a competitor to be reckoned with, a man who knows that justice will be served every time he steps into the ring! ========================================================================== ============== D. The Mountie ============== From: Canada. Height: 6'2". Weight: 245 pounds. Information: Few competitors in the WWF are as cocky as The Mountie. But his arrogant self-confidence is well-earned: this is a man who can wrestle and brawl with equal ease and is never satisfied until he gets his man and the victory is his! ========================================================================== ================= E. The Undertaker ================= From: Death Valley. Height: 6'10 1/2". Weight: 328 pounds. Information: Quiet, methodical and dangerous, The Undertaker wrestles like a silent juggernaut. His almost inhuman ability to absorb punishment assures that he never takes a backward step on his inexorable journey toward inevitable victory. ========================================================================== ================= F. Jake the Snake ================= A.K.A. Jake 'The Snake' Roberts. From: Stone Mountain, Georgia. Height: 6'5". Weight: 249 pounds. Information: As sneaky and slithery as the reptile for which he is named, Jake "The Snake" possesses a wrestling style as lethal as a cobra. This is not a man to be trusted in any sense of the word. Opponents who turn their backs on him usually pay the price. ______________________________________________________________________ / \^ ( I V . T h e M o v e L i s t ) \______________________________________________________________________/ This move list is for all the six wrestlers in the game. As far as I know, there's no finishing move for each wrestler. Anyway, here's the list. Note: you can press SELECT anytime to refill the health. This can be done only once per match. <> Ready Moves (both wrestlers are standing up) ------- Attacks ---------------------------------------------------- A | Punches B | Kicks A (near your friend in TTM*) | Changes Wrestler A + B + Right or Left | Runs Right or Left Right or Left Over the Ropes | Goes Out Right or Left Over the Cages | Climbs the Cage Right or Left Over the Opponent | Grapples Up on a Turnbuckle** | Ups a Turnbuckle ---------------------------------------------------- * Tag Team match. ** Only both of the upper turnbuckles. Cannot be done on the lower ones. -------- Grapples ------------------------------------------------- A | Headbutt B | Bodyslam A + Up | Suplex A + Right or Left | Irish Whip B + Up | Throw Out ------------------------------------------------- <> Ground Moves (opponent is on the ground) ------------------------------------------------- A | Elbow Drop B | Stomps A + B | Pin Fall ------------------------------------------------- <> While on the Ground Moves (opponent's standing, you're on the ground) ------------------------------------------------- A | Raise Up ------------------------------------------------- <> Running Moves (opponent is running) ------------------------------------------------- A | Clothesline B | Throw Out ------------------------------------------------- <> While Running Moves (opponent is standing up, you are running) ------------------------------------------------- A | Clothesline B | Flying Drop | Kick ------------------------------------------------- <> Aerial Moves (you are at the top of a turnbuckle) ------------------------------------------------- A | Flying Elbow A + Any Direction | Far Flying | Elbow ------------------------------------------------- ______________________________________________________________________ / \< ( V . T y p e s o f M a t c h e s ) \______________________________________________________________________/ No, there aren't many types of matches in this game. As I said, it was a good feature that an old game like this one has a cage match, and this type of matches is surely the best in the game. Here's a quick explanations on each type of the game's matches... ========================================================================== ============= A. One on One ============= Simply, a one-on-one match between two of the six available wrestlers. The winner has to make his opponent groogy, and then makes a pin fall. ========================================================================== =========== B. Tag Team =========== Tag Team is more enjoyable than the normal One-on-One matches. As almost everyone who knows something about the WWE (or the WWF in the past) should already know this, I won't say much about it. A two-on-two match between four out of six of the available wrestlers. Two inside the ring, and two outside. When you need to change the wrestler you're currently play as with the one standing up outside the ring, go near him, and press A (the manual says to press SELECT). The health will get changed because the new wrestler who've just entered the ring has different health, you know. That's all. ========================================================================== ============= C. Tournament ============= The Tournament is a group of matches done by the same wrestler you chose who'll wrestle with the other five wrestlers to get the belt at last. The Tournament is either a group of One on One matches, or Cage ones. ========================================================================== =============== D. Cage Matches =============== I know, many of you like watch this kind of wrestlers in real. Here, in this old game, you can play this match at least. Although I've seen two-on-two cage matches out there, this game does only have a one-on-one cage match. Or, in other words, you can only use play as one wrestler against another one, and the winner is the one who gets out before the other. Nearly all the WWF and WWE games that were released after this game have cage matches, but the ones before don't. There might be a few ones, but no more than three. Anyway, the winner (in this game only) in the cage match has to do the following instructions to win... 1. Hit your opponent until he falls down on the ground and looks like unconscious. 2. Now it's your time to climb the cages. Do that by press Right when you're near the right cages, or Left when you're near the left ones. Keep in mind that you cannot climb the cages which are up and down for some technical reasons. :) 3. In any case, after you've succeeded in that, wait until the bell rings three times, and you're the winner. 4. However, while the rings, if it happened that your opponent stands up after the unconsciousness, you'll instantly fall down, so you have to try yet another time. 5. From those four points I wrote, you should know that you cannot climb with the opponent is standing up. ______________________________________________________________________ / \> ( V I . F r e q u e n t l y A s k e d Q u e s t i o n s ) \______________________________________________________________________/ Q-01: Can I post your FAQ? A-01: Well, only once you contact me, telling me where it's going to be posted, and giving me an email of yours so I can contact you. Q-02: Why you have wrote a FAQ for such an old, bad game? A-02: To be honest, I don't know why! In these days, I even play GameBoy, NES, Master System, GameGear, and those old games, although I have some of the new consoles like PlayStation2, GameBoy Advance, WonderSwan Color, and some more. I simply don't know why! :) Maybe because the GameFAQs' visitors who still play GameBoy requested help on this game. And maybe not! Q-03: Can I contact you via an Instant Messaging program? A-03: Well, first of all, I'm not, frequently, available online at MSN Messenger, but you can add me to your list if you'd like to. Also, please stop adding me, and then easliy tell me "who r u? i dont know u. u added me first :p" Is that clear? Q-04: What are your other upcoming FAQs? A-04: OK. I am writing FAQs for the Master System now, and I may write for SNES. I won't say which game I really want to write a FAQ on. It depends. If you want me to make a FAQ for a game, then you may ask for it. ______________________________________________________________________ / \{ ( V I I .
