The FAQ I am writing for is Blackjack for the Atari 2600. Sounds simple enough to FAQ, right? o---------------------o STORY o---------------------o The object of the game is to win as many chips as you can without going broke. You need to win games by getting a better hand than the dealer without busting. o---------------------o DISCLAIMER o---------------------o Blackjack is a trademark of Atari and all copyrights belong to them. This FAQ/Walkthrough is the sole copyright of Andrea "Azul Fria" Castillo aka Ice Queen Zero (or the Zophar Queen if you prefer) and cannot be put on other sites or posted without my given permission nor can it be reproduced w/o proper consent. Dial: Cycle between options Button: Action performed o---------------------o GAMEPLAY o---------------------o Here's a card game where the object is for the player to draw cards that total 21 (without going over) or come closer to 21 than the Dealer. All cards are at face value, except for the King, Queen, and Jack which count as 10, and an Ace will have a face value of eleven unless that would give a player or the dealer a score in excess of 21, in which case, it shall have a value of 1. Since the paddle can count as two controllers, you can have up to three players in the game. Paddle 1 controls player 1 and 2 while Paddle 2 controls player 3. Players start off with 200 chips. Players can bet up to 25 chips. The Dealer starts the game by dealing a card to the player on his left, every player gets two cards, face up. The dealer gets two cards, but one is face up and one face down = the "hole" card. Only after all players' hands are played does the Dealer expose the "hole" card and play the Dealer's hand. Once you have your two face cards in front of you, you can choose to "stand" (draw no more cards), or take a "hit" (draw one or two cards) until you reach 21 or come as close as possible. However, if you go over 21, you "break" and automatically lose. A winning hand pays even money. If the player is dealt a "Blackjack" (a hand with a value of 21 on the first two cards, he is paid off at 1.5 to 1. If the player gets 21 with three or more cards, it will lose to a dealer Blackjack (which should only happen if the dealer has a 10 value card up and has an Ace as his hole card). Before the player another card (takes a hit), the player can choose to "double down." If the player choose to double down, then the player must double the bet and must receive one more card. The player can not take any more cards and the double down hand is over (this is usually only done with the player has a 10 or 11 and the dealer does not have a face card showing). After all the players have played their hands, the Dealer turns over the "hole" card abd acts on the hand according to the rules of the game. The dealer must draw to 16 and "stand" when 17 or more is reached. At the end of the game, if your count is the same as the Dealer's it is a "Push" (nobody wins). If the player's count is greater than the dealer's count and both have not exceeded 21 or the dealer's count exceeds 21 and the player's does not, the player wins. The game is over when the player loses all thier chips (go broke) or "beaten" if the player reaches 1000 chips (breaking the bank). o---------------------o DIFFICULTY o---------------------o Left A: Cards are shuffled when 2/3 of the cards are used. Left B: Cards are shuffled each hand. Right A: Casino Blackjack rules -Dealer hits on soft 17 or less. -Dealer stays on a hard 17 or more -Score not affected by push -Can double down on 10 or 11 but get one extra card -Hit up to four times Right B: Private Blackjack -Dealer stays on 17 or more points -Dealer wins all ties -Double down at all times but get one extra card -Player wins if they don't bust after 4 hits o---------------------o CREDITS o---------------------o Atari for making the game GameFAQs for hosting the FAQ My sisters Renea and Chigura (Roja Calor and Kage Negra) for the playing the game with me.
