VERSION UPDATES >=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=< A1 . ABOUT EGO BOOSTS --------------------- This is probably not a necessary read, but I believe I should include a few notes about the game mechanics. Duke Nukem's ego is obviously so inflated it also manages to protect him from serious harm; Stopping bullets, claws, psionic blasts, rockets, etc. However, it does have limits, thus it is essential to find a means to further enlarge Duke's ego. That is where this guides comes into play. This guide will discuss what all the ego boosts are, and where to find them. - There are many items/events Duke Nukem can interact with in-game that to help him raise his ego. Such examples include: * Winning at video games * Exercising and sports-related activities * Certain kinds of eye candy (Calendars, magazines, etc.) * Defeating powerful bosses - All Ego Boosts can be obtained during one play-through of the game. - Some Ego Boosts can be found in more then one place (for instance, the one on the computer monitors may be found at 4 different places). However, a player can only claim an Ego Boost once. - It does not matter what difficulty the player plays at to earn Ego Boosts. Once a player has earned one during a play-through, it stays. This is helpful for getting through the "Damn, I'm Good" difficulty. - When a player starts a "New Campaign", the Ego Bar will reset. NOTES: - There are no actual "names" for the Ego Boosts. I simply came up with some to help identify what they are. - In the "SORTED BY MISSIONS" section, some of the Ego Boosts are marked with a "-- NEW!" tag. This represents the first time they appear in-game. >=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=< A1.1 . SAMPLE FORMAT -------------------- The guide will display each of the Ego Boosts in this format: --------------------------------------> Ego Booster Action Ego Boost: (Enter Value) What to do: What you need to do to obtain this boost. CREDITS ------------ Credit goes to: - 3D Realms, Gearbox Software, Triptych Games and Piranha Games for creating the Duke Nukem Forever game and it's DLC content. - GameFAQs for hosting this excuse of a guide. :) - My editors, who bothered to read this and make sure I did not screw things up too badly. Poor editors. :( - BahamutZero (http://www.gamefaqs.com/users/BahumautZero/contributions), for a few odds and ends and excellent feedback. - You, for actually taking some time to read this. >=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=< C2 . DISCLAIMERS ---------------- This document is intended to be for personal use only. Please do not post this on other game sites without written permission. Currently, the only site with permission to host this is GameFAQs. This entire run was done from scratch, without looking at other FAQs or videos. The intention was to try and find any and all possible means of earning ego boosts. I figure, "If I can find them, anyone should be able to, eventually". >=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=< C3 . VERSION UPDATES -------------------- 1.2 - Fixed more typos (Seriously, I need a typo mallet, or something equally destructive). - Managed to calculate the ratio on "Starting Ego" VS "Complete Ego Bar". While I have no idea if a starting level of 70 and expansion of 35 are the number used in-game, I have surmised that the ratio is correct. The calculations are based off measuring the Ego Bar in-game: * Without boosts, measured 65mm on my computer monitor * With all the boosts, measured 98mm on my computer monitor Since I do not have a means to take screen captures off my Xbox 360, I took a ruler and did it the old-fashioned way. Taking into account the 35 points for the boosts, I ended up with 70 as the starting point for the Ego Bar and 105 as the total. This is not the same result at the original campaign, because the starting and final bars are different. - Updated "Authorized Hosts". - Updated the "Sort By Missions" section. 1.1 - Fixed a few Ego Boost names, to better suit the names' origins. - Found several errors with the naming of many enemies. They have been corrected. - Updated and slightly improved the format of the guide. - Updated "A DIRTY MAGAZINE". It can also be found on the MAGIC CARPET RIDE level, but it does not go towards the count listed on the main menu. - Updated credits to include BahamutZero and his invaluable feedback. 1.0 - Completed the guide.
