In several places, such as The Chapel, the orientation of the rooms doesn't match this layout. This guide addresses each main area in two ways. First is exploration. The goal of this part will be to get the collectable items at the earliest convenience. The second is the solution. At times when a password or code is needed instructions will be given in both parts, though these do not need to be learned more than once. There is a variety of ways that brochure entries are unlocked. Some occur when that room is first visited. Some rooms require Thanos' Architect Insight. There are other rooms that will get added to the brochure as the plot unfolds. And there are still other rooms that are tied to collecting playing cards. A test for this is to back up the save file and change the order in which cards are collected. This test has indicated that these brochure entries are unlocked by finding a specific card. When observed this guide identifies the brochure entry, the number collected, and the specific card. _______________________________________________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- _______________________________________________________________________________ -------- - Tips - -------- Under options set the display to its lowest resolution. Using higher resolutions zooms the camera in and makes it harder to locate objects in the environment. In particular doors and playing cards would become obscured by the interface. Late in the game all character paths become visible on the map. You could observe most of their movements on your own. Don't, it's time consuming and unnecessary. Lafcadio's mask will burn if he is about to enter a room with another masked character. Sometimes this effect lasts after the character has left the room. This effect is useful for indicating when a room is dangerous but unreliable for indicating when a room has become safe. When occupying a room with another masked character time stops and you can't interact with anything in the room. The only option is to open a door into another room or use a mirror. Implement a button to hide the interface as it occasionally obscures doors or playing cards on higher resolutions. While peeking through a door you have to cancel before you can go through. It would be convenient to be able to enter while peeking, if that's a door you can open. The Guests section of the brochure can be used to indicate which invitations have been collected. - To Find Missing Cards -

This is a modified and expanded variation of a method that previously appeared
in the guides section on Steam. If you reached the normal ending but are still
missing a card there is a way to find out which card you're missing.

Method 1) If you're also missing a brochure entry then you either missed a face
card or need to use Thanos' Architect Insight in that room. Search this guide
to determine which.

Method 2) Find your save file.
For the GOG version on Windows 7 this was located at...
%UserProfile%\AppData\LocalLow\Cavalier Game Studios\The Sexy Brutale

Copy this folder to another location so as not to risk damage to the original.

Next download Notepad++ Portable and use it to open the copied save file.
For the first save slot the name is SaveFile0.gd

Press Ctrl+F
Find what: item_card_
Find All in Current Document

Your results will look something like the following.
Search "item_card_" (69 hits in 1 file)

Copy the output to a new text document. Start cleaning this up by deleting any
duplicate line numbers. Next you need a program like OpenOffice or LibreOffice.
Copy the text into a spreadsheet as Unformatted Text with Space as a separator.
Select the column then click on Data > Sort Ascending.

In the sorted list you will see that the cards go from 2 to 9 followed by
A, J, K, and Q. Thus the 10s of each suit are not listed. If you have 48 lines
then your missing card is a 10. If you have less than 48 lines then your
missing card is represented by a break in the pattern.
