TRON: Evolution - A Walkthrough (PS3) v2 ============================================================================= Version 2 NOTES: First, let me say WOW! This guide was posted less than 24 hours and I already had 8 e-mail responses requesting further information. For a game that has been consistently rated as only slightly above average, I must admit I am impressed with the reaction. Second, the big addition that seems to be on everyone's mind is combat tactics. So, in addition to making sure I answered every single e-mail, I thought it prudent to add an annex to assist in the future. Finally, throughout this walkthrough I have used the term "Gate" to denote Recognizers. I did it for two reasons: they really look like floating gates, and my typing is less than exemplary and Gate is just easier to key in than Recognizer. I apologize to the traditionalists who harken back to the original 1982 movie when Flynn wrote the original Space Paranoids. ============================================================================= TABLE OF CONTENTS NOTE: To use the Table of Contents to jump to the section listed, press and hold the control key ‘Ctrl’ and then press the ‘F’ key. When the ‘Find’ box pops up, just type in the code at the far right and hit ‘Enter’ and you will be zoomed to the start of that section. There is no separate listing for the collectibles as each one is imbedded in the walkthrough and noted in this table. In actuality, the storyline for the game parallels the movie rather than providing any new plot revelations. The game features very pleasing graphics and parkour-style movements and combat. It appears to be designed more for fans of the cinematic presentation than for hard core gamers. Tron Legacy (the movie the game is based on) was produced for a very pricy $174 million and featured extensive and flashy CGI graphics. After holding the #1 position at the box office during its opening weekend, the movie went on to more than double the cost to make it (last official count was $394+ billion with the DVD release still pending). The entire cast contribute to the voices with the lone exception of the primary star Jeff Bridges. However, the actor who voices this role, Fred Tatasciore, sounds so much like a young Bridges that it doesn't detract one bit from the game itself. The critics for the movie and the game appear to be almost mirror images of each other scoring them slightly better than average in both departments. From film reviewers, the movie was given high marks in sound and visuals. From game critics, it seems agreed that this fare is best suited for lovers of the movie and not dedicated game mongers. It can easily be completed in a single sitting of about 6 hours, including retrieval of all the collectible items. There is also an extensive online multiplayer option that allows the use of abilities and upgrades earned in offline play. The game is both PlayStation Move and 3D TV compatible. The story line for the game: The Tron concept is a continual storyline through several mediums. Beginning with the 1982 movie, the story continued with the graphic novel Tron: Betrayal and was followed by the Nintendo Wii offering of Tron: Evolution - Battle Grids. This game is supposed to follow that plot line and act as a link to the 2010 movie, Tron: Legacy. To say it fails would be a tad simplistic. The game does not serve its function in the plot well, instead acting as more of a parallel to the 2010 movie than it does as an independant story line. In Evolution, the player is the system monitor known as Anon (an abbreviation for anonymous). Anon is then led through a mirror story of Legacy as you are required to chase down and destory the evil virus Abraxas and foil Clu's plans for system domination. Integral to that is the saving of Quorra and the finding of Flynn. Contact Info: All questions regarding any portion of this walkthrough will be gladly answered forthwith by the author. In addition, all data (to include XP, collectibles, and abilities) is kept and transferred to any following attempts to play - even if you select "New Story"; you will begin with everything you had from the last time you defeated the game. There are no options available to save one game while working on another. The only way to restart fresh is to go into the PlayStation Saved Data Utility and delete the Tron file. Be careful NOT to delete the Tron installation files in the Game Data Utility folder - just the Saved Data Utility folder. Second, there are only specific configurations available for the controller. This is a bummer since after you discover your own unique fighting maneuvers/style - you can’t reassign the controller for ease of use. All references to the controller in this walkthrough are based on the default or first controller configuration. Third, there are no traditional save points. Instead, the game auto saves at certain times in the story line and those are where you restart in the event you die (or as the game calls it "derezz"). In addition, when you hit a checkpoint you will not be able to go back and re-do a level without exiting to the main menu and "Replay a Chapter," in the event you missed something. Fourth, the game is full of both large and small cut scenes which cannot be skipped over. Using the ‘Start’ button to pause them does not work either. This is also true of the ending credits. Controller/Fighting Notes: Your ability to control Anon is not much different than most controls and it just takes a little time to get used to it. This game is designed to be beaten, and if you are a "smash the button" kind of player - it will be right up your alley (just make sure you know where the health regenerators -ETC stripes- and power regenerators are located before you get into a major battle). For those who like a little more finesse - that is available too by using a wide variety of combination attacks and different weapons (discs). Get used to using the directional buttons to quickly shift between the different discs you have collected. Finally, the R1 button is your friend, and you should find yourself holding it down for the majority of play throughout the game. There are two important side notes here. First, be careful when smashing the square button and setting off those regular combos. Anon will move forward as these are being conducted which may lead you to actually throwing yourself off the edge of a platform. Finally, when there are lots of enemies near by, just press and hold the L1 button to put you in a near unbeatable defensive position. You can then press the square button from time to time to attack from this position. While not really a "cheat" it works for almost every fight - to include individual battles. If you time when you press the square button to right after the bad guy hits you with his disc, you will deliver a hefty blow. This is what I call the Hold L1 and Parry maneuver. In addition, if you get surrounded or face lots of bad guys, you can hold L1, get near the center of them and then press triangle to release a ground slam and deal them all some good damage at the same time. You can clear a room real quick with that maneuver. Difficulty Levels: As a general rule, the only difference between the three is the number of enemies and their toughness. It seems the harder the level, the more damage they do to you and the less you do to them. Kind of standard in most games. ============================================================================== [PR] The game is divided into chapters, objectives and checkpoints. Sort of like a hybrid between a script for a play and strategy gaming. Each is embedded in the other beginning with numerous checkpoints within each objective which are combined into broad story lines for the chapters. Disc stations, which are used to upgrade abilities and weapons, are normally provided after each objective or checkpoint. The opening chapter for this game is designed to give you the most rudimentary experience with the game controller and acts as a brief tutorial on basic movement and combat. ============================================================================== Chapter 1 - Reboot [CH1] The chapter begins with a cut scene of Flynn explaining there appears to be some issues brewing between the Isomorphic Algorhythms (ISOs) and the Basics (standard programs). You learn that he has written a new type of program, a system monitor (that will be you), to try and keep the peace. You are inserted and begin in Tron City with the voice of Tron telling you about a ceremony about to begin - Radia (leader of the ISOs) is to become a co-system administrator with Clu, a Basic and mirror image of Flynn. Your first objective is to meet Tron at the elevator. As you start to move, the tutorial should kick in and your NAVI-bit will turn on. While in Tron City, you can press the 'select' button on the controller to activate the NAVI-bit which will pop-up some little white dots that shows you the way to go. For now, the dots will lead straight across the road to Tron. Follow them. After meeting Tron, you will be taken to a bridge. Follow Tron until a cut scene kicks off. This is where you are introduced to Quorra. After this small scene you will be transported to another part of Tron City and given the objective to follow Quorra. This is too easy - just follow the dots. Tutorials will start appearing on the screen to walk you through the basic movement and control abilities. One thing you need to start noting are those painted circles on the walls and climbing points that you are leaping and jumping on and over. When you are in Tron City, your NAVI-bit can be used to show you the correct direction to go in; however, when you are not in Tron City the bit won't work. It's real easy to just look for those little circles - that's normally always the way to go. Anyway, follow the dots learning to jump and walk on walls to a tutorial about buttons. You will run into more of these orange buttons later on in the game and they all are activated the same way: hit them with your disc. Now proceed through the door that opened from activating the button and continue to follow the dots. You are now given a new objective - get to the installation ceremony. Ahead of you the dots show a jump over an open pit with a button on the far side. For this one, in the middle of your jump, throw your disc to activate the button, which should provide a platform for you to land on. When you reach the other side, you will now be in Cache Facility 6. This next challenge is to run on the wall, and throw your disc after jumping off it. There is an orange button around the bend to your right. This will also activate another floor for you to land on. You will now have to run forward (holding R1), then jump which will land you on the center of the far wall. As long as you keep holding R1, you will climb to the top. Turn to the right, run down a small hall and jump over one of the "launch pads". You should really get some height and be able to see the orange button on the other side. Again, throw your disc in mid jump to activate a floor you can land on and make it to the other side. If you don't make it, no worries - you will land in the space below. Just turn around and locate the ledges with those circles to climb up the back wall and try it again. Once you do make it across, follow the dots to the left and do the jump-on-wall-while- holding-R1 trick to climb up top. Follow the dots diagonally to the left and through an open door. Once you get through, look to the left and you will see what looks like a floating nut for a machine bolt. Just walk over to it and you will collect your first Tron File, the NAVI BIT [NB]. Follow the dots forward and over a launch pad jump (Hold R1) to a wall walking and leap. Hop over two small hurdles (just run at them while holding R1) and follow the dots to your left where you perform another launch pad then wall walk and down to a platform with another launch pad slightly to your left. Launch off it and do a wall walk then leap to the left. Leap over another small barricade which should launch you way down to another platform and you find yourself in Module 8 Lower Concourse. Turn to the right and use the launch pad to drop to a lower platform. Then another right to yet another launch pad. This time you will leap farther below into an enclosed area and you get your first fight. These are very easy beats and there are no health pads or power regens. There will be several waves of bad guys - but button smash the square will do them in. Sometime during the fight, you should notice another one of those floating nuts above a park bench. By running at the park bench holding down the R1 button you will leap up and grab another Tron File, the INFECTED [IN]. Once you have whacked all the bad guys, you will be informed that your objective to Get to the Installation Ceremony is complete. A cut scene will follow as you attend the ceremony, but "Uh oh...somethings not quite right" and the ceremony gets wrecked with the appearance of Abraxas. BOSS FIGHT: Abraxas I [BF1] This is not really a boss fight, but more of a tutorial. Just follow the directions while Abraxas is on the lower level. After completing each of these challenges, Abraxas will jump to a higher level and send some much weaker enemies for you to kill. When you clear the wave, he will drop down and give you another challenge. you get to do this four times. If you start losing health to the dangerous point - note the ETCs (blue glowing strips) running up the wall to your left and right. You can recharger your health by doing the run-jump-walk-up-the-wall move (Hold R1, press X to jump on the wall and keep holding R1 for Anon to climb a little bit). That will recharge you. There are no power recharges here. Note the yellow moss looking stuff - don't touch it; it hurts. The four challenges you must complete are: #1 - Hit Abraxas three times with a square-square-square combo...just mash the button until complete. Once you complete it, he will do a big ground smash then jump up and send some minions your way. Beat them and he jumps back down for... #2 - Hit Abraxas three times with a square-circle combo. This time you gotta get up close. I have found that you actually don't need to hit him, just performing the combo out in the middle of no where will count. Once you do it three times, he does his big ground smash thing again and leaps to the higher level and you gotta take out his toadies. Beat them and we go to... #3 - Block three of Abraxas' attacks. Too easy. Keep some distance between you and him and hold down the L1 button. After you block three, he jumps up and sends a small wave of bad guys. Beat them and he jumps back down for... #4 - Hit Abraxas three times with a supercharged disc. Too easy - just keep some distance while you charge. On this final challenge, you will break a piece of his disc and start a cut scene where we learn a bit about Clu's thought process and you are given the unenviable job of tracking down Abraxas and maintaining surveillance. After the cut scene you will be informed your objective to Stop Abraxas is complete and you will be transported to a Disc Station for a short tutorial. Once you have control, feel free to check out the Disc Station and, if you have any memory, buy an upgrade or two. Once you are done, proceed forward and press the Select button to activate the NAVI-bit. As you start to follow the dots, you should find yourself in Module 6 Maintenance Concourse. Jump to the first platlform, then wall walk to the second, then wall walk and leap to the third. Follow this platform until you can wall walk and leap to your left. This should land you on a platform with an orange button. Activate it. Now turn aroud and use the launch pad here to jump back across the void to where you came from. You should see another orange button over on that far platform. Once you get there - activate it. This opens the nearby door. The hall inside is full of that yellow moss stuff and you are warned not to touch these "infected" parts. Walk forward and turn left to find you are now in Energy Feed Substation 12. A little further and you can walk through a doorway to your right. You will get a short tutorial on ETCs and you are instructed to run across it to open another door. Do your wall walk thing to comply. As you enter the next room an "Energy Object" can be seen. These are what I call power regens. you will have to face a few minor enemies and you will have to whack one with a power hit (triangle) button as part of the tutorial. There is an ETC strip on the wall to the right in case you get into trouble. To use the power regen, just run at it while holding the R1 button and Anon will vault over it and recharge your power squares. Too easy. Once you have cleared this area, climb the wall to the left of the ETC. Then turn around and wall walk over to the other side with the partially eroded platform. Feel free to use the NAVI-bit, if my description confuses you. The platform should bend to the right and you have to wall walk over an ETC to reach another platform. Look to the right and you will see a glowing broken piece of Abraxas' disc [AB1]. Hop over and recover it then return to this location, facing the wall with the closed door on your left. Now climb the wall in front of you. At the top, turn to the right and activate the orange button to open a door to the left. When you go through, the door closes behind you. You should be on a platform and be able to see an orange button on the far side of the area. Turn to the right. Wall walk to the next platform. When you land you should be in Module 6 Maintenance Concourse. Leap over to the next platform and deal with the bad guys there. At the end of this platform, you need to wall walk to another ledge and then leap to the platform with the orange button. Activate it to open the door to a badly infected area. When you enter you will reach a checkpoint and be given some more info on ETCs and you will find yourself in Master Router Control. You will now have a new task: uninfect the ETCs and a new objective: Suppress the Infected. To do the task, you have to activate a control panel. The control panel for this is located on that raised and infected section right in front of you. There are no power recharges in this area and two sets of ETCs on both the left and right walls. In addition, there will be a never ending group of bad guys coming after you. To get on top of that raised area, you must run up either the left or right side ETCs and do a back flip onto the platform. To accomplish this, clear one of the sides momentarily of bad guys. Face the ETCs, hold R1, run toward the wall, press X to jump on the wall and KEEP HOLDING down the R1 button. After Anon takes a few steps up the wall, press X again and he will automatically do the back flip and land on the platform. Approach the orange glowing panel and press X to activate it. Again, there is a never ending bunch of bad guys that will try to make this a bit difficult. Once you have cleared the infection, drop down and climb the wall where the newly uninfected ETCs are. A note - a bad guy usually like to appear right where you want to run at the wall...just jump him. As long as you are holding down the R1 button, you will stick to the wall and climb it right over the top of Joe Infected. Once at the top, proceed through the doorway. You are now on the second level of a large area with what looks like a strange obelisk in the center of the lower section. Infection is all over the walls and covering several ETCs. On the lower level you should just be able to see two control panels (small stations with yellow-orange pillars of lights shooting straight upwards). Just run forward and drop down to the lower level and beat all the bad guys that come at you. Once you are done, look at the obelisk and you will see a Tron File floating in the air on one side. You can jump and walk up the side of the obelisk to get TRON [TR]. Now, activate both control panels (stand in front of them and press X). You will now be informed you have completed the Suppress the Infected objective and the door on the lower level will open. Walk through it. As you approach the second door just a little ways down a small hall, a reboot will occur. There is no cut scene, and I'm not sure why it does this. But eventually, you get control of Anon. Go through the second door, turn to the right and you will be given a new objective: Clear all hostiles from the sector. There is a disc station here as well as a checkpoint. Upgrade as you see fit, then turn to the left. Down a set of stairs, turn to the left and down another set of stairs. Then one more time to the left and down some more stairs onto a platform. Now jump to the level below to find you are in Subarchives 12. There is a single power regen in the center of the room and an ETC running up the far wall. Beat the bad guys here and proceed through two sets of doorways. You should find yourself on an infected platform with a launch pad to the left side - use the pad. This should put you on a lower platform with another launch pad and a checkpoint. Launch yourself again. This should put you on another lower platform with an infected door. Go to the left around the edge of this platform to find another launch pad. Use it to fly across the area and through a glass window into a room. In this room there is a power regenerator right in the middle and an ETC along the right wall. There will also be some tougher infected - feel free to use power moves to get rid of them and recharge/heal as required. Once they are beaten, a door at the bottom of the stairs will open. Go through it and run along the short hall. You will find you are now in Flynn's Arcade and a cut scene will take over where you find that Clu is truly up to no good. At the end of the scene, you will face a Sentry for the first time. These are the weakest of all Clu's forces and can be beaten by any means available. After beating the lone Sentry in the walkway proceed through the door, into a large room where you will be given the objective: Escape Clu's Sentries. You should be in the Central Processing Services area. Defeat the first wave and you will get a second wave. After beating the second wave you will get your first taste of a Sentry v1. These guys are really fast. To make this entire fight simple, keep the L1 button pressed and use your parry move (press the square after deflecting a blow). It'll beat everything there. There are five power regenerators available if you really want to shake things up. Two of them are cyclinders that you have already been introduced to. The other three are the glowing consoles (rectangular computer terminals). There are two ETCs for health on both the right and left walls. You should get another wave after the Sentry v1. Once all the bad guys are beaten, a door will open. Go through it and down a hall with a set of stairs at the bottom. There will be a door to the left and one of those blue circle markings on the wall to your right near the infection. Holding the R1 button, run at the blue circle. You will climb through a window and jump down into a street intersection that will serve as the engagement area for this next fight. This is Module 3 Quarantine Zone. A cut scene will show a Gate dropping off more sentries. All the exits on this street are blocked by containment force fields. Using the L1 and parry commands, will make short work of the waves that attack you. There are two power regenerators on the street corners and one ETC running up the back wall if you need them. Once you defeat the bad guys, an orange button will become available for you to activate. Once you activate it, you will hit a checkpoint and you will hear Quorra say, "Hey, over here!" Head through the section where the force field just disappeared. A small cut scene will follow where Quorra gives you a Mag disc and you get a brief tutorial on how to use it. One word of caution with these, when you see the glowing grab point and press R1...if an arrow does NOT appear above the glowing point then it is NOT active and you will fall, most of the time causing you to derezz. Use the new grab point to launch to an upper level. Go through the door, take a quick right then left and you will hit a checkpoint. Go through the door into a large open area. After a few steps, a small cut scene will spin the camera around to show you the area. This engagement section is Stack 142 Basics Only. You will now get to deal with the Sentry v2. The heavy disc is needed to deal with them. The old L1 and parry trick will handle everything in this fight. There is a single power regenerator on the lower level. Up the stairs are two more along with two ETCs on each of the far walls. Once you beat the bad guys, an orange button will become available. Activate that. This charges a grab point for your Mag disc higher up. To get there, face the door at the top of the stairs and look to the right. You should see an ETC, then moving to the left a launch pad and then a little further a line of blue circles on the wall. You can also activate your NAVI- bit and just follow the dots along this line. Anyway, launch over the pad, run the wall and leap to a vertical set of circles (by pressing X at the end of your wall walking), then press X again near the top of the vertical line to do a back flip and run along a second set of circles, then press X again to leap to a platform. This should put you in line with the Mag disc grab point. Use it to get to a higher door. Take a quick left, down the hall and another quick left and then drop through this door into an area with an orange button. Activate it to charge another Mag disc grab point. Face left out onto a platform. Now you have to use two grab points in a row to get to the ledge on the far side of the area. Once there, turn to the left and drop into a small area with a single power regenerator and ETC. Beat the bad guys here and then head down the hallway to an orange button and activate it. This charges another grab point. Turn to the left and use the launch pad. While in mid-air, activate the Mag disc to get to the far side. When you land on this ledge you should drop right on top of the SENTRY [SY] Tron File. If at any time you fall - you will have to work you way back up here. Once on the far side, you climb up the ledge and proceed down a short hall, and through a doorway. Once through, the door closes and you are at a checkpoint. You should see a grab point hovering in the air to your right. To use it, turn to the right and run to the end of this platform. Now turn to the left and press R1 to get the triangle. Use it to cross the gap and onto a ledge. Go through the doorway here, and down the stairs toward a disc station. You will be informed that you have completed the objective and you have reached a checkpoint. Use the disc station to upgrade whatever you can. Now run around the large pillar in the room and down a hallway on the other side. A cut scene will follow where Quorra tells you she saw Clu kill Tron and Flynn. She is on a mission to tell everyone what happened but needs help. She thinks some fella named Zuse who runs a club can help. You are now given a new objective: Meet Quorra at the End of the Line Club. You begin on a platform with a Gate floating overhead. Don't worry, it won't attack. Once it clears out, you will see two grab points in the distance. You have to use them to get to a far ledge which is Stack 262 Under Construction. When you get to the far ledge, wait for another ledge to appear and then leap to it. Hold the R1 button to keep running and you will vault over its edge. If you screw this up, you have to restart all the way back at the disc station which means you have to rewatch the cut scene - so be careful and get it done right the first time. This will put you on a platform with a launch pad and blue circle on the wall. If you look up and to the left you will see Mag disc grab points. What you have to do is launch, run on the wall then leap then activate the grab point. You will land on a ledge. Turn left and proceed to the end and turn left again. You will get a brief tutorial on grip points. This time, use the Mag disc grab point to launch onto the grip point in the distance. Jump left, around the corner, and then one more left. The game will instruct you on running up the wall and doing a back flip from this last grip point. You will land on a platform with a checkpoint. Proceed through the doorway into your next engagement area. A small cut scene will give you a brief layout. You must defeat all the bad guys to lower the containment field to proceed. After the first wave, you are going to be introduced to the Heavy Sentry v1. These guys have shields that regular disc attacks won't get through. You have to get up close and do a ground slam (hold L1 and then press triangle) to break that shield and allow you to attack them. Be aggressive and FIRST as these guys like to slam on their own as well. There is a single power regenerator in the center of the bottom area, and two ETCs that can be accessed from launch pads on the left and right wall of the upper area. Once the bad guys are derezzed, wall climb through where the containment field was and you will be on a platform with a launch pad. Use it to cross the gap and you should now be in Exterior Maintenance Terrace 43. Turn to the left and follow this path until it ends with a Mag disc grab point. Use it to reach a higher level and you should land right on top of the ZUSE [ZE] Tron File along with a check point. Go to the end of this platform and wall walk the left side to reach a lower platform in the distance. A Heavy Sentry v1 is waiting around the left corner (you can't see him). As soon as you land, run left around the corner and ground slam him. There is a power regenerator here, but be careful if you use it not to launch yourself off the platform. Once you finish him off, use your NAVI-bit to find the side of the platform to jump off to a lower level. There is another checkpoint here. Turn to the left and follow the path until you see blue circles on the wall. Wall walk on these over to another platform. To the right you will see grip points. Climb up and grab the lower one. Jump up twice, then left around the corner and one more left jump. Then drop down and you will land on a walkway with another checkpoint. Turn around and you will see a disc station and launch pad. Use the launch pad to jump to the right onto another platform. Now turn left and follow the walkway until it ends with a launch pad facing left. You should see a bunch of Heavy Sentry v1s over there. Be quick - make the launch and ground slam when you get there. This is the EOL Club Receiving Platform. There are three power regenerators (two cylinders on either side of the main pillar and one computer terminal on the raised section). There are also two ETCs on either side of the pillar - but becareful using them. If you jump off of them you may back flip into the abyss and derezz yourself. Once you have beaten the bad guys, you will hear Quorra's voice say, "Follow me." Just head toward the open hallway where she is standing. A cut scene will follow. Apparently, Zuse is going to be of limited assistance now and apparently you get to play messenger boy to deliver the bad news to Radia. After the cut scene, you get to do a little Light Cycle riding. The last Tron File for this Chapter is found almost right after starting your ride. Stay centered in the right lane and you will run right over the LIGHT CYCLE [LC] file. This is none too challenging, just keep the R2 button pressed and stay close to the center line (you may have to dodge slightly from time to time, but no major swerves). At the end of the road, another cut scene will show that Clu's got himself a big old battle ship. You get a surprise grenade from a bad guy. This begins... ============================================================================== Chapter 2 - Shutdown [CH2] Quorra gives you the primary objective to Reach the Solar Sailer and then you are given the objective: Escape the End of Line. You will begin in another street intersection engagement area known as Subjunction 3 Quarintine Zone. All the exits are containment field blocked and you have a Gate dropping off bad guys. Beat them down. There are two power regenerators and two ETCs here to assist you. Once you have beaten all the bad guys, look for a park bench with a blue circle on the wall behind it. That will lead you to a grip point which you can use to get to a ledge above you. Follow the pathway until it ends in a small wall to climb. This leads to the top of a walkway. You should see blue circles on the wall on the other side. Cross over, walk the wall to a platform with a launch pad. Use the pad to jump onto a neon sign, leap off it at the end jumping to your right and engage the Mag disc grab point in mid-air. This will put you on a ledge with a disc station. Follow the pathway around to the left where it ends in a launch pad. Use it to reach a farther platform, then turn left into the doorway. In this room you will have some fairly tough infected to deal with and only one ETC and one power regen to help. Once you are done, find the circles on the wall running horizontal and vertical. They should be in the far left around the corner if your back is to the wall. Use the horizontal wall walk then leap to the vertical ones then jump off/back flip onto the higher level. This is Stack 29 Local Archives. You will be given a cut scene that provides a very poor camera pan of the area. The trick to this area is to activate the four orange buttons. Here's how we do that. #1 - Once you get control of Anon, turn around. One of the buttons is right next to where you jumped up to this level. Hit it with your disc and a piece of a walkway will appear. Now turn around walk straight and take a left so you are standing between the two large pillars. This leads to... #2 - On the inside of each pillar are blue circles. On the pillar to the right the circles are slightly lower. You want to do the walk-up-the-wall trick on the right pillar first. Then back flip to the other pillar. Walk a little ways up it, and then back flip to the first pillar. Then walk a little ways up it, and back flip and throw your disc in mid air to hit the button up here. You will fall to the ground facing the pillar that had the button on it. Now... #3 - Turn to the right, you will see the next button on the stone wall. Hit it so we can go to... #4 - Turn to the right and you will see some circles lined up vertically. Run toward them (if you hold the R1, you will vault over the hand rail onto the wall) and then do the wall-run-back-flip thing to reach the platform directly above you. The button can be hit from the end of this higher platform. The walkway should now be completed. Jump down to where you came from and look on the left wall to find a staircase. Climb to the top landing and use the wall walk backflip off what appears to be a vertical plastic sign. This should put you on top of the door where the 2nd Abraxas' Disc Shard [AB2] is floating. Now run under the stairs and find the line of horizontal circles on the wall. Use these to get to the walkway you just revealed. Once again, your NAVI-bit can still be used if I am confusing you. Once on the walkway, proceed to the other end and through the doorway which activates a checkpoint. Turn to the left, and jump over to another ledge. Follow the path to the left and use the grip point to jump up. This will put you on a platform with a launch pad. Use it to walk up and back flip off the neon sign to a platform above you. Jump to the grip point from here and then up to the next level. Walk to the end of this platform and look slightly up for the Mag disc grab point. Use it to get to a higher ledge. You should land right on the SCOUT SENTRIES [SS] Tron File. Now walk through the door that opens when you land. This room is the Server Redirect Terminus. You will walk to the left in a u-turn and out the other door into a walkway where there is a disc station. A little further through the walkway and you will see an ETC on the left wall and you will hit a checkpoint. A cut scene will take over showing a tank shooting at you. Proceed down the walkway towards two Heavy Sentries v1. Do not engage them, just wait and the tank will blow that section of the walkway into smithereens. A Mag disc grab point will now be available. Use it to cross this part of the broken walkway. As soon as you land and take a few steps, the tank will blow another chunk out. This reveals blue circles on the left wall that you can use to wall walk to the other side. Another shot from the tank blows out the glass at the end of the walkway. Jump through this opening to a platform below. There is a launch pad here. Use it to jump up and walk the blue circles on the right wall, jump off them at the end to the reach circles on the left wall, then jump off these to reach a third set on a diagonal left wall and finally jump off the end of this third set to reach a platform on the right. As you climb up, a cut scene will take over showing the top of a building falling. Very quickly, as soon as you get control of Anon, start running forward and left toward the left edge of this platform. Look for a blue circle painted on the floor - jump from somewhere near that to reach the safety of a lower platform. If you are too slow - you get squished and derezzed. At this safe platform, run to the edge and slightly left to see a Mag disc grab point. Use it to get to another ledge and another grab point. As you near the end of this ledge to use the second grab point you should find yourself in the Vehicle Router Station. Use this Mag disc point to launch yourself into the engagement area with a tank. The trick to this is get along side the tank and ground slam with your bomb disc. Be careful not to get run over and the main gun barrel will track your movement and shoot you senseless. Once you beat the tank, two control panels (yellow-orange light pillar thingies) will become available on the upper level. Go activate them (stand in front and push X) to get to play with a tank of your own!! The tank can fire all kinds of different proectiles, depending on the disc you have selected. While this is cool - accuracy and speed are more important. I prefer the bomb disc. Start by maneuvering your tank straight forward and stop in the doorway. Look left and right to find two sentries on each door. Blow them away. Now proceed into the room and shoot the large button on the upper right wall. Move toward the closed door, it will take a second or two to open. Once it is open, you will be on an elevated roadway. Turn to the right and take out the tanks and Gates that fly at you. It is always best to move and shoot at the same time. Stopping to shoot is problematic, but if you have to do it - go ahead. you should proceed around an orange containment blockade. Beat a couple of tanks hiding behind here. Just a little further down the road and you will enter another room. Just like before, stop before entering. This time the left and right doors are guarded by 4 bad guys each. In addition, these guys will come after you so be quick on the shoot. Once done, you will hit a checkpoint. Now shoot the big button on the upper left wall and drive up to the far door. Wait a few seconds, then it opens. There are normally two tanks right on the other side waiting for you. Deal with them and then continue driving. You will have more Gates and more tanks. Shoot 'em up! After the main engagement area, you will have a much longer stretch of driving. You will be stopped by a cut scene as a Gate blows up the road around you dropping you to a highway below. You will be a little disoriented, but get you main gun lined up with the front of the tank before you try to maneuver yourself in the right direction. If you don't, it will seem like the controls aren't responding correctly and all the while something is shooting at you. Once you get yourself aligned, then gradually turn to the left or right to get yourself spun around and engage the bad guys that way. This time, they are gonna have dismounted troops with them...what ever you do don't ignore them. They will leach your life away. You should fight around two barricades and then drive up to what looks like a dead end. I have found there is always one lone Sentry standing motionless to the right - he is sometimes hard to spot. If you don't shoot him now, you'll have to deal with him later. When you drive onto the black pad at the end of the road, you will automatically jump out of your tank to find you are in Solar Sailer Terminal A. In this next engagement area, you are going to have your first experience with the Heavy Sentry v2. This guy is a bit of a pain in the rear. The screen will say that the heavy disc is his weakness, but that's not the real issue. Unlike the v1, this guy has no shield. But he likes to ground slam...over and over and over and over. You get the idea. To make matters worse, he jumps in the air prior to the slam, so if you hit him with a power attack (triangle) just before he hits the ground - you aren't gonna do much damage to him. My suggestion is to keep distance and hit him with standard combos from afar. The good news is the heavy disc will damage him severely so it normally only takes a hit or two to do him in. There are two power regens and two ETCs in this area for your use. Once you beat all the bad guys, a section of venting will fall open. Use the wall-climb trick where you see the blue circle on the wall to reach this new opening. Once you go through, you will see what looks like a mini launch pad - use it. It will send you flying into a chamber called Solar Sailer Energy Shaft 4. The idea here is to hop from platform to platform without derezzing yourself on that main energy beam in front of you. Just time your first jump to when the beam disappears. There is a disc station on the platform you want to jump on. Turn left and jump over to another platform with a launch pad. use this to jump to a wall with a blue circle and climb up to another platform with a launch pad. Note that this launcher is aimed at wall walking circles. Wait for the top energy beam to vanish, then launch to the circles, jump to the right at the end to reach another set of wall walk circles, then jump to the left at the end of these to land on a platform. Jump down to a longer platform with a launcher on it. Use it to reach another platform. Then use the left wall walk circles to cover the distance to the end of this shaft. Wait for the beam to vanish and jump up and into the hole where the beam was coming from. This will put you in the Master Line Control Room. A cut scene will take over which also gives you a really poor idea of the layout of this area. This is similar to the other room where you had to activate four orange buttons only this time there is a time limit. If you don't get all four activated in a set amount of time - they all deactivate and you have to try again. Needless to say, knowing where the buttons are and having the right sequence is important. So let's talk about the layout. When you get control of Anon, you should be facing a wall in the distance that has a single circle and a grip point directly above it. You should also see three launch pads, one to the left, and two to the right. To the left, you should also see what looks like a sunken control room and on the wall in the left corner a series of vertical circles. The vertical circles allow you to walk up the wall and back flip to a higher platform. There is a button up there (let's call that button #1). There is also a button in the sunken room (we'll call that #2). Now, I want you to walk forward so that you are directly between the two farthest launch pads. One on each side and then turn to the right. You should see the red button atop a raised platform with a single circle on it. This will be button #3. I also want you to note what looks like a small light colored wall at the base of this raised platform directly below the blue circle. Now direct your attention to the right along the far wall and you should see the final button - #4. Finally, I want you to notice the wall on your left. There is an identical circle and grip point on the other side. Here's what you need to do. The easiest way to do this is to turn around and use the launch pad to get to the first series of vertical circles, climb to the next platform and turn right. Now use the wall-walk-backflip trick to get to the top of that platform. Activate button #1 then drop off the platform into the sunken control room and activate button #2. Now climb out of there, use the launch pad to cross over to the other side. While holding R1, run and use that light white bench to launch at the circle on the raised platform. You will climb to the top allowing you to activate button #3. Now drop down and run to the last button. When you activate it you will reach a checkpoint. Now turn around, run for the far wall with the single circle and grip point. Climb up to the grip, jump to the left to another grip, then jump up and through the hole. This may take you a couple of tries - but enough dithering...get to work! Once you are through the hole, you should find yourself on a platform. To Anon's left you should see a Mag disc grab point - use it to reach a higher walkway. Turn right and proceed to Solar Sailer Departure Area 5F. Just keep running forward until everyone starts screaming and a containment field blocks your way. Ironically, you are notified you have completed the objective of reaching the Solar Sailer Docks. You now get to deal with the Black Guard: Grenade Variant. Before you actually engage him, first run to the far end of
this area and get the SOLAR SAILER [SR] Tron file. You have several power regens throughout this area as well as ETCs on both left and right sides. The deal with these guys is they keep popping grenades out like a beauty queen tossing candy from a Thanksgiving Day parade float. Your key to success is to attack from a distance. Once you beat him, Quorra will show up and stroke your ego with a "Wow, you are good." A cut scene follows showing a Solar Sailer at work and you have now entered... ============================================================================== Chapter 3 - Arjia [CH3] Once you have control of Anon, follow Quorra along the walkway to the left and into Solar Sailer Arrival Area 5F. A cut scene will interrupt and you will find that you are not really all that welcome. You are told to find a service entrance and your main objective becomes: Infiltrate Arjia City. Once you have control of Anon, look to your right for a large circle on the wall. Jump and climb that wall to enter a tunnel. You will pick up the Tron File QUORRA [QU] right before you get into the tunnel. Follow the tunnel to a platform where you should see a Mag disc grab point right in front of you. Use it to get launched to a farther platform and you should now be in Arjia Codestream Sublevel. Jump the small gap to the path in front of you and follow it to the left. Jump and climb the small wall with two circles on it. Up top, you will see two Mag disc grab points. Use them in sequence to reach a rectangular grip point. Jump up into a small tunnel. At then end it looks like a low barricade with a circle on it. These will act just like launch pads. Use it to reach the grip point on the far wall. Jump up to another grip point. Then jump up again to the top of this section. Use this launch point to reach the far platform with two circles and a grip point. When you get there, climb the circles to the grip. Now jump left around the corner, then left around the corner again, then left again, then up, then left to land on another platform with a checkpoint and a launch point. Use the launch point to walk on what appears to be floating circles. Jump right at the end and engage the Mag disc grab point in mid-air to land on a circular platform. To the right, a ledge will be sticking out. As you walk out onto the ledge, two Mag grab points will appear. Use them to reach another circular platform. There is a checkpoint here. Walk to the other side of the platform and you will see a series of vertical grip points. Jump to the lower one. Now jump up twice. there should be an ETC strip right above you. Jump and walk up it, then press X near the top and you will back flip to a higher platform. There is a walkway to the left that leads to another circular platform - take it. Walk around to the far side and you will see three ETC strips. Do the wall-walk-leap thing from strip to strip left, right, left than leap right to a circular platform. The door here will open and you will automatically walk through and come out on another platform with a message stating you have completed the infiltration objective. You are going to get a new objective: Locate the HUB. Turn to the right and you will see a disc station. While facing the station look to the right again and you will see four thin support beams. If you look up, you will see a Tron file floating next to the very first beam. Walk up the beam like you do a wall, just be careful NOT to push X and do a backflip or odds are you will fly off this platform. This should get you the ARJIA [AR] Tron File. When you land turn to the left to find you are now in Arjia. There will be a Mag disc grab point. Use it to launch to a platform in the distance with what looks like one bad guy on it. Once you attack him, a few of his buddies will come around the corner to join the fray. There is a single ETC strip (vertical) right behind this bad guy and a power regen console in front of him. There are two other power regen cylinders around the corners on the far left and right ends. I wouldn't try using them unless you are facing the center. During this fight, be careful not to either jump off the platform or get slammed off of it. Once you have beaten all the bad guys, face the back side of the console (or face the ETC, if you prefer) and turn to the right. Proceed to the end and you will see a blue circle on a far wall - jump to it. Run to the far side of this platform to find a vertical series of circles. Jump to them and run up the wall and then do the back flip trick to get to the higher platform. Up here, there is a walkway to your right. As you start to proceed down it, you will be told to stand in the icon to activate the Mag point. There is a turning walkway just beyond it. What you want to do is use the Mag point a little before the moving walkway is in a straight line with the platform in the distance. This way you can land on the shifting walkway, run along its length and jump over the sliding section, and then jump to use another Mag point which will get you to the far platform. If worse comes to worse you can break this into segments by using the Mag point to reach the turning walkway and then wait for the walkway to line up with the next Mag point. A checkpoint is on that far platform. Turn to the right, follow the path to a gap and then wall walk on the left to reach another platform. Across this section is a grip point. You can jump the gap and grab the grip. Then jump up to the next level. Proceed forward and to the left. Jump this gap. Across the gap and forward you will see another set of grip points. Jump over to the first one. Then jump right and around the corner, then right and around a corner, then right. Now back jump - don't try to walk up the wall and back flip - that won't work. Now cross this area and jump the gap to another grip point and then up to the top. Now forward and use the left wall to walk over to the next ledge where you should see a single bad guy. Smack him. Now use the left wall to walk over to the next ledge and then climb up to the next level. Follow this slightly left to reach a checkpoint and a door on your left. Go through the door. As you enter this area, the people in here will go screaming for the exits and you get to deal with a handful of Sentries. There are plenty of power regens and ETCs all through this area so feel free to start exploring your fighting styles. Once they are all beaten, a door on the far side will open. Go through it and use the launch point to reach a platform in the distance. Use the ETC on the left wall to wall walk to another platform. Then leap across the small gap to climb up to another platform. On the far end you should see grip points between two lazers. Jump over there. You will actually fall a bit to a lower grip point. Jump up twice, wait for the lazers to clear out and then jump to the left and around the corner. Again, time the lazers and jump to the left. Now jump up once and then time the lazers again to jump to the left and around the corner. Then jump left again and press the circle button to drop down to the walkway below. Turn around, cross the walkway and jump up the wall to another grip point then jump up to the next level. There should be a single Sentry here blocking a walkway - deal with him. Now run to the end and jump to the circles on the wall, at the end leap to the right for another wall walk then leap to the left for some more wall walking then leap again to the right for your last set of circles and leap to the left to reach a platform. A Sentry should greet your arrival. Say hello with your disc in his mouth. Jump the gap to the next platform (where the Sentry came from) and continue forward and to the right to a launch point. You want to launch to the ETC strip, wall walk to the left and then leap and activate the Mag grab point in mid-air to reach the platform where the regular people are standing. There is a disc station there. Walk through the doorway and everyone will take off screaming again. There will be more Sentries to deal with here in the Arjia Communal Assembly. There are plenty of power regens (both console and cylinders) as well as ETCs to help you in this fight. Once you have killed them all, a door will open. Go through it onto a platform with a Mag point above you. Use the Mag point to reach a circular platform with two walkways. Take the right one and walk up the door at the end to reach a grip point. Jump up once. Then do the walk-up-the-wall-backflip to reach a higher walkway. Cross over to a circular platform. You should see circles on the wall slightly to the right. Jump to them and walk the wall and leap to the right, repeat the process and leap to the left then one more time and leap to the right this time using a Mag grab point in mid air. You will land on a platform with lazers. This time the trick is to use the wall walk circles to cross the gap without getting zapped by those pesky things. The first one is easy - you want to walk OVER the lazers. Wait until they go down to jump. You should now be on a platform with a launch point aimed at a line of circles. Launch yourself and walk the wall then leap to the left onto another platform. This time you have to launch yourself over the gap the lazers are covering. The trick to the first one is to launch yourself UNDER the lazers, not over. Just wait for them to go up. Now jump the gap to the next launch platform. This time you want to launch OVER the lazers. Just time it. Now you should be launching yourself to another line of circles. Walk them and leap to the right to land on another platform. There should be an open door with people in a large room. This is the Arjia Census Services - Foyer. As soon as you enter, they take off screaming, the area seals and you gotta beat some more Sentries. This is a really simple fight if you hold the L1 button, let them come to you, and then use a ground smash. The v1s you can wait to defeat until the regular guys are dead. But, if you want to jump around feel free - there are plenty of power regens and ETCs to keep you healthy and charged for an extended rumble. Once they are all dead a far door opens to a platform with a launch pad aimed at wall circles. Launch yourself, walk the wall then leap right, then walk the wall and leap left, then walk the wall and leap right and walk a final wall and leap left. You will land on a platform with a disc station and a launch point aimed at an ETC. Launch yourself, walk the wall and leap right, then walk that ETC and leap left and engage THREE Mag grab points, one after the other, in mid air. This will land you on a large platform and your Locate the HUB objective will be complete. You are now in the HUB. You are gonna have a lot of fighting to do here. I strongly suggest you use the "hold the L1 and parry" maneuver here. After several waves of Sentries you will get to meet the Black Guard: Light Staff Variant. As long as you keep your distance and use the bomb disc power strike - you should have no trouble. All other kinds of strikes and he is tough to bring down so stick to the bomb disc power strike (triangle). Once you beat him the door will open. Head through and down a hall for a cut scene. Quorra will be waiting for you and you get to watch Clu run a line of B.S. with Radia. But the white chick is smarter than Clu thinks and you find out that Flynn wasn't really killed, he was snuck out by a rogue ISO named Gibson. Once you get control of Anon, turn around and run down the long large hall. As you approach the yellow containment field, you will find that you are now in Arjia Plaza and you have a new objective: Escape Arjia City. Odd...we infiltrated here to escape it? Oh well, gotta do whatcha gotta do. Keep running forward into the large circular area and beat the Sentries the Gate just dropped off. Easy fight as long as you use the L1 parry move. There are lots of power regens and ETCs if you need them. One of the Sentries is usually a Heavy v2 - so you may want to equip the Heavy Disc if he goes into a ground slamming frenzy. Once everyone is beaten, a Mag grab point will appear and an icon on the ground. Step on the icon. Press R1 to activate the grab point then circle to launch to another Mag point and out of this area. From this new platform, jump the gap to the next platfrom with the launch pad on it. Use the launch pad to reach another platform with a launch pad aimed at a grip point. Use it. Jump up and walk then backflip to another set of vertical circles, walk up these and back flip again to a higher platform. Now turn around and look back and upwards. You should see a floating Tron File above you. You can run, jump and climb the wall to the grip point which will get you the ARJIANS [AJ] file. Now do a straight back jump to return. Jump across to another platform then a lower one where you will find a Mag disc point. Use it to get to another platform. Then jump slightly left and down to another platform. Turn right and use the two Mag grab points to land on a platform with a disc station. The door will open into a small hall. Proceed down the hall, down a set of stairs where there is a launch point. You should now be in the Arjia Theater. Launch yourself to the area below. This is a two part challenge. First, you have to activate a Mag point then you have to escape this area before the whole structure derezzes. To do this, fight your way to the control panel on the left. Activate it. Then turn around and fight straight across the area to the second control panel and activate it. Once the second panel is activated, a short cut scene will follow and the place will start to derezz. Forget fighting now. Just run to the raised section in the center and turn and use the Mag grab point to launch yourself to a higher platform. Another cut scene will follow showing the place starting to vanish. Once you get control, turn around and climb the wall behind you. Once at the top, turn to the right in a large u-turn and find the launch point which sends you to a higher circular platform with a raised center. Jump and climb the raised center, stand on the icon and use the Mag grab point to a higher walkway. Run to the left and then right down a walkway to get out. You have very little time and any errors in jumps or activating the Mag points will cause you to get derezzed with the whole joint. Once through the door at the end of the walkway and you are safe at a checkpoint. Once through the door, proceed down the walkway, up the stairs and into the Recognizer Berth 14 area. You have some Sentries to deal with here. There are several power regens and ETCs in this circular area if you need them. When you have killed them all, find the one launch point that faces out. You should see a Tron file floating in the distance between two sets of walls with vertical circles on them. The launch pad should be to the right of where you entered this circular area. Use it to get to get to a platform that is the base of those two vertical walls. Yup - you know it, do the wall climb and backflip maneuver - this time three times in a row to get you to the next higher level. You should pick up the LIGHT TANK [LT] Tron file in between backflips. At the top, jump the gap to the next platform. Turn left and jump the gap again. Now turn left and find a vertical set of circles on the wall. Do the climb the wall and backflip until you are on the next higher level. Run forward and climb the next wall. Then jump the small gap to reach a platform with a Mag point in the distance. Use the Mag point to reach the next higher platform. This next platform has a tricky Mag point. There is an icon on the floor. Step on the icon and the camera aspect will change. Press the R1 button to activate the Mag grab and it will launch you onto a line of circles, walk the wall and then leap left for another line of circles, walk these and leap right for another line, walk these and leap left for the final line of circles and then leap right to land on a platform where a door automatically opens to a room full of people. The is the Arjia Master Archives. This room is a not much trickier than others. To begin, until you beat the puzzle there will be a neverending number of bad guys that come out of that door on the lower left. So...how do you deal with this? Note the markings above the door on the far side. Those correspond to markings covering inactive ETCs around the room. You must run across those ETCs to open the door. The order does not matter. When you run across the ETC above the door, you will land on a higher platform that has the 3rd Abraxas' Disc Shard [AB3]. Once you run across one, it will become an active ETC for you to use so I suggest getting the nearest one first. You can stay in the L1 mode for most of the time which will keep the damage down, but you will have to drop your guard long enough to climb up the platforms and take a walk on the walls. Once you get them all, wipe out the remaining Sentries and go through the door to a platform with a launch point. Use it to reach a circular platform, cross the far side and use the ETC to wall walk to another platform. Use the Mag grab point in the distance to get to another ledge and follow it around to the right. It will end in a launch point that gets you to a grip point. Jump up and you will be on a higher level with some Sentries. Deal with them. There are two power regens here for you. Once beaten, go to the end of this platform and turn right. There will be a launch point with wall circles in the distance. Launch yourself to the circles, walk to the end and leap left to another series of circles, walk to the end and leap right to land on a semi-circular platform. Walk to the far side and use the Mag point here to reach another ledge. Walk straight forward and use the Mag point you see in the distance. There will actually be three of these Mag points in a row. Use them to land on a platform with a disc station and a door. Through the door you go into a room full of people. This is the Arjia City Cooling Tower. After the first wave of Sentries, you will get to meet the Sentry v2. Ground slams work best to beat him. This room is just a big circle with lots of power regens and ETCs for your use. Once all the bad guys are beaten, a door opens to a platform with a launch pad. Use it to reach the grip point on the far wall. Then jump left around the corner. Now you get to deal with those pesky lazers again. Jump left. Then drop down one level. Then jump left and around the corner. Then left between another set of lazers. Then drop down twice to a walkway below. Turn around, cross the walkway and climb above the door at the other end to reach another grip point. Now jump right and around the corner. Then right again between two lazers. Now drop down. Now jump right and around the corner. Then once more to the right and drop down onto a ledge. Follow the ledge to an icon on the corner. This is to the Mag point, but the trick is to line yourself up before you actually use it. This will launch you to a platform with a launch point on it and you will be told you are now in the Arjia Sector Quarantine Gate. The launch point here is to get OVER the lazers in front of you. Make your move as they start to head downward and you will clear it easily. There is another launch point aimed at wall circles on the other side. Once you make the jump, a cut scene will take over and walk the wall for you and land you in an area with a tank. When you get control of Anon, you are already in the tank. The good news here is that you shouldn't have to maneuver in the beginning. Instead, you have to kill some dismounts and then monitor the sky back and forth, left and right and destroy Gates as they try to drop troops down to mess with you. Some Gates will just try to bomb you. Keep an eye on your radar in the upper right corner to figure out which direction they are coming from. Once you beat them all you will have completed the Escape from Arjia objective and one of the containment fields will drop. Now drive your tank through there. A cut scene will follow and you are apparently on foot again. You get chased down and decide to jump on your light cycle which brings us to... ============================================================================== Chapter 4 - The Combatant [CH4] You will now be in the Periphery Corridor South with an objective: Race to the Game Grid. This Light Cycle ride is a visual stunner and you got lots of twists, turns and jumps to complete. If that's not enough to challenge you, there are also two hard-to-see Tron Files that need getting as well. Your gonna be shot at by tanks, Gates dropping bombs, roads that derezz under you and a few enemy Light Cycles thrown in for good measure. Just keep a weather eye out and the throttle open. Let's start by picking up the TRON CITY [TC] file. You will start out pretty simply by just following the road. Soon you will pick up one enemy Light Cycle. Then a Gate will drop down and block the left exit forcing you to take the right roadway. Another enemy Light Cycle will drop in to join you and a bit futher a tall rock pillar will fall across the road. You will be forced to the left around the pillar. Stay slightly right of center on this exit ramp. A Gate will be hogging the left side as you go over the small hill. The file is right in front of the Gate. The second file is even tougher to get. After you get the first one, continue driving until you pick up two enemy Light Cycles. Stay between them and follow them until you see a Gate just hovering over the center of the road dropping bombs. Go around him and the road will curve to the right and start to derezz. You will drop down a few times onto other roads. Try to stay just right of center. When you see the white parked car on the right side of the road, the RECOGNIZER [RZ] Tron File is just ahead in the roadway. There are plenty of checkpoints as you move from the Periphery Corridor South to the Periphery Corridor West and finally arrive at the Game Grid. If you miss the Tron files, you can try to Restart, but it will most likely just reset you to the last checkpoint and that is normally beyond where you past the file. So odds are you will have to quite and then Replay a Chapter (this is #4) and get them on subsequent attempts. I know the objective is to "race to the game grid", but I'm not sure who you are racing and even if you die, you never actually get beat by anyone. So just have a blast. When you finally arrive you will be at the Game Grid Zone and will receive a new objective: Infiltrate the Game Grid. There is a small looking launch point directly in front of you that leads to a tunnel known as the Game Grid Service Entrance. At the end of the tunnel is a disc station. Head down the set of stairs out onto a platform. Note the broken space in the railing along the edge. That's another set of stairs leading to a lower platform edge. Follow around the right side to find a launch pad and jump to the next ledge. When you land, head around the left side until you see a lower area with bad guys in it. Jump down there and whip 'em good. Once you beat them a Mag point will activate it. Use it to get to the next ledge. Run the left side of the ledge until you see another area with bad guys. Rinse and repeat. Once you beat them, you will notice a red circle symbol on the wall. Activate it. To the right of the symbol you will see a Mag point, use it to reach a higher platform. To use this one you normally have to jump to get it to activate (little triangle appears). Remember - no triangle and it's not gonna activate and you will fall. At this higher platform you will find the GAME GRID [GG] Tron File floating next to a closed doorway as well as a launch pad. Use it to reach a walkway with a door and strange symbols. The good news here is you just have to hit the symbols - no particular order required. Turn around and you will see a symbol on the wall you can activate from this walkway. Now face the door, run to the left side and jump the gap to the ledge on the lower level. Turn to the right and use the launch pad to reach the next ledge. And yes, before you ask, we are making a second lap through this area. This time when you land, move Anon to the right and inch to the very edge. Move your camera to the left so you are checking out the side of the large pillar and you will see another symbol. Activate it. Now run around to the other side and jump over to the lower level where you beat the first set of Sentries. Upon landing, turn around and you will see the last symbol on the lower part of the pillar you just jumped from. Activate it and the door opens and your objective is complete. Turn to the left and go to the far side of this area and use the Mag point to get to a higher ledge. Run to the left and jump down to the second area you fought bad guys in. Turn to the right, go to the far end and use the Mag point to get to that higher platform. Use the launch pad there to get to the walkway with the door and in you go. You now get a new objective: Locate Gibson. You will begin on a platform with four Mag points visible. It doesn't matter which way you go - left or right. Use the Mag points to hop ledge to ledge to the far side of the room. Once on that far pillar ledge, walk around to the far side and jump the small gap to the platform with a disc station, a door and a circle on the left wall. Climb up the wall with the circle. You should be facing a wall that looks like a grating. Look upwards and you will see another floating Tron File. This is the CLU [CL] file. You can get it one of two ways. Climb the grating wall, stop at the top and then turn around and fall off. Or you can climb and backflip off the right wall. When you got it climb the grating again to enter a hallway. Walk forward and slightly left and climb this next wall. You should now see a line of cirles - time to wall walk. Leap to the right at the end of the circles and then wall walk to the end and leap to the left to fall onto a lower hallway. Walk forward and slightly right and drop down into this next area where Grid competitors are kept in circular glass cages. This is the Contestant Marshalling Area. You should hear Gibson jawing with another competitor. Just walk around the edge of this circular jail area and you will be told your objective is complete. Keep walking around this circular thing until a cut scene stops you and Gibson pulls a fast one on you. The ole switcheroo... Now you have a new objective: Survive the Game Grid Tournament. There are five contests and as long as you use the L1 Parry tactic you will get through with no problems. You do have to listen to Clu pontificating through the whole thing which is irritating. After the last victory, Gibson will drop down and tell you he hid Flynn in the Bostrum Colony. You will then be transported there and dropped on a long green walkway. You have now entered... ============================================================================== Chapter 5 - Identification, Friend or Foe [CH5] As you run toward the opening at the end you will be given a new objective: Investigate the Kernel. You will pass a disc station as you enter the central area. Head up a large flight of stairs and through a doorway that closes behind you. You are now in the Kernal Central Lobby. Go to the center and take a right. You will see a door with a power regen just beyond. As you run toward the power regen, a triangle will appear on a half broken tower and the game will tell you "...the right percussion attack may break this weakened wall section..." Make sure your bomb disc is equipped and use a power strike (triangle) to knock it over. Now walk over it and up to a higher ledge with a green launch pad. Use it to reach a green square grip point. Then walk up the green ETC and do a back flip to reach a ledge above you. Turn to the left and climb up to the next level. Turn to the right and jump the gap to another platform with a power regen on it. If you check the far wall to your right you will see a discolored section and a triangle appears as you near it. Equip your bomb disc and use a power strike to break the wall. You will find the BOSTRUM COLONY [BC] Tron file behind it. Now enter the doorway on the platform. There is a launch point to your left as you enter. Use it to walk on the green ETC and get to the far platform. You are now on the second level of the Central Lobby. If you fall, just retrace your steps across the pillar you broke to get back here. Use the next green ETC strip to reach the next platform and then jump the small gap to get to the little platform with a launch pad on it. Use the launcher to reach the next platform and climb to the highest point. Then use the ETC you find up here to wall walk to a lower platform with a launch pad on it. Note that the launcher is aimed at a red button. Launch yourself and throw your disc in mid-air to activate the button. Before we go further, a quick note on the infected you are about to meet. First, only the stasis disc will do them harm. Second, the ones that look like they have bicycle helmets can only really be hurt with either power strikes or ground slams. Keep that in mind when you are fighting and wondering why these son-of-a-guns just won't die! You will fall all the way to the Central Lobby bottom level where a door has just opened. Equip your stasis disc and go through this door. You are going to have a few Advanced Infected to deal with. They do not throw discs so the L1 Parry maneuver is not a great tactic. Just wail away on them and avoid stepping into the infected areas while you do it. There are two ETCs and a power regen here if you need them. Once you beat the advanced infected, some of the infection will disappear off a wall that is slightly to the left of the entrance. Climb it. There is a small green step/ledge on the bottom with a small circle painted to show you the step. On top is a launch pad aimed at an ETC so you can wall walk. Run to the end of the ETC and leap to the right. You will now be on a platform with dual ETCs running up the right wall. Walk up them and do a back flip to reach a higher level. Turn to the left and find the ETC strip that will let you do another wall walk and leap to the left to reach the far platform. There will be some infected guys waiting for you. Beat them and then activate the control panel to open the door. Go through the door and to the right to use the Mag point to reach a higher platform with a launch pad and, you will note again, that it is aimed at another red button in the distance. Same deal as before - launch and throw your disc in mid-air to activate it. Again, you fall all the way back down to the Central Lobby and another door opens. Go through this one. The door will close behind you, your objective will be complete, and Gibson will let you know he has lost Flynn and he wants you to "Get up here now!" This is a large engagement area with two raised areas left and right and a hallway sunken through the center. There will be quite a few infected and you must clear them all away. There are plenty of power regens (both console and cyclinders) as well as ETCs for you to stay healthy and charged. Once all the bad guys are dealt with a section of the wall will become uninfected and you will be given your next objective: Meet Gibson at the top of the Kernal. Break the newly cleared section of wall by changing to the bomb disc and using a power strike. Change back to the stassis disc after this move or you are in for a rough ride. This will reveal a launch pad aimed at an ETC strip. Use it to wall walk and leap right to land on another platform with a step. Hold the R1 button as you near the step and you will vault to a higher level platform with another launch pad. Use this to jump the gap to a large ledge with a power regen, an ETC strip and a launch pad. Beat the infected here and then use the launch pad to cross to the large area on the far side. There is a power regen and an ETC strip along with some infected over here. Beat them and then go through the small triangle doorway. You will now be on a platform with a disc station. If you look to the left you will see a launch pad aimed at a grip point. Use it and you will now be in the Outer Kernel. Jump up and wall walk back flip to a higher level. Up here you will see a white lightining bolt ETC, run up it and back flip to the next higher platform. Wait for a moment up here so that you can see a platform that appears and then vanishes. Time it so you can jump on this disappearing platform and then jump to the far ledge. There will be a few infected on this far area to deal with. Now run around the corner to the left and stop at the launch pad. You should see a wall that does the old appear-disappear act. You will need to launch onto the grip points. Jump to the right, wait at the second grip until the wall disappears and then jump to the right past it. This should send you around a corner. Now drop down (press circle) and jam the left stick to the right to land on the platform below. If you just jump right you will make it, but take damage from the infected wall. Use the green strip on the wall to wall walk to another grip point. Jump up to another grip point and wait. Above you will be some infection that does the disappearing act. Time it to jump when it has vanished to reach a higher platform. Now run around the left corner and stop. You will see a series of three platforms that are doing the disappearing thing. You can time this to just run across or wait until the closest platform appears and run-jump to the far side. Jump up to the grip point. Then jump up again. Now jump up again and you will automatically go around a right corner. Drop down to a platform below you and go through the triangle door. You will now be in Central Storage F5 Deck. Here you will have lots of infected and a few allies running around. You will not target the allies so you can't hit them with friendly fire. You will recognize them by their bushy hair-do's. Clear the area of the infected. Once you waste them, a green ETC will be cleared of infection. Before you go wall walking, there is a small triangle open door just on the left wall from where you entered. Go in here and you will find the BOSTRUMITES Tron File [BS]. Now you can go to the newly uninfected ETC. Use it to wall walk to the next area. Once you clear the infected from this area, a triangle doorway will become uninfected. Go through it. You are outside once again. Make a sharp left u-turn and you will find a launch pad. Use it to wall walk a white strip then leap right to reach a grip point. If you actually time your leap well enough, you will skip over the grip point and walk up a vertical white stripe to reach the platform above. If not - no worries, just jump up from the grip point. Turn to the left. Cross the disappearing and reappearing platform to use another white strip and walk up that wall to another higher platform. Jump up the wall to a grip point. Then up again. Now jump up, wall walk and backflip and then wall walk and back flip again. This should put you on a higher platform with another vertical white stripe. If you don't time your wall walking right, you may fall down and grab a grip point. No worries, just start the wall walk backflip maneuver from there to get to the higher platform. Now up this white stripe you go and backflip to another platform. This has a wierd looking launch pad. Use it to land on a ledge then go around the right corner and into a triangle doorway. You are now in Depot K Deck. Beat the infected here and a white strip will become uninfected. Use it to wall walk to the next area. When you get there, you should notice the discolored section of the wall even before you fall onto the floor. Beat all the infected over here and a red button will become uninfected. Now you can break that discolored section of wall and retrieve the 4th Abraxas' Disc Shard [AB4]. Then go and activate the button to raise a triangle door. Make sure you switch back to the stassis disc from the bomb disc after you break that wall. Go through the triangle door and you are outside once again. Turn to the left and enter the open door. As you enter this small room you will see a circle on the wall. Climb the wall. Up here you will find a launch pad aimed at some disappearing infection. Time it to land and wall walk then leap to the right to land on a higher platform when the infection vanishes. On this higher platform is a luanch pad aimed at another launch pad which is lined up with a grip point. Go to it! Jump up from the grip point and then climb straight up to a slightly higher level. Turn to the left and climb this wall to another grip point. Wait for the infection above you to vanish and jump up again. Then one more upward jump and you will automatically go around a corner. Drop off to the platform below and turn right. Now notice that there is both infection and a wall that does the vanishing act. There is a white stripe just beyond and above the wall. You have to time it so you jump on the wall when it appears, climb to the top and then quickly jump onto the white stripe to climb that wall to a higher platform. This can get a bit frustrating if you don't get the timing right. Wait just a tick after the wall disappears then start running toward the empty space. As you jump the wall will reappear in time. This will allow you to climb it. Be careful when you get to the top to have Anon squared up with the white stripe beyond it. If not, when you try and jump to it you will leap slightly to right and into dead air...uh, oh - derezz time. If you blow this you will restart back at the bottom of the last grip points to try again. It's all about timing. When you get to the top, go left around the corner and use the launch pad to reach a lower platform. Use the white stripe on the wall to wall walk to a grip point. You will go around the corner and then jump up to another grip point. Then you will go back around the corner and jump to the left to another grip point. Then jump up and climb to another grip point. Now do that again. Then jump to the right onto a platform and through a triangle door. You are now in the Command Operation Cache. A small cut scene will give you a brief camera view of the area and you will note you are doing another one of those puzzle things. This one has to go in sequence order. The first ETC to run across is the one on the higher ledge to your left. The second one is the vertical ETC that is on the pillar to your right as you entered the area. The third one is a vertical one all the way at the far end of the area. The final one is up on the highest platforms to the left of the door with the markings on it. Once you activate all four, the door will open and your objective to meet Gibson will be complete. As you are running aroud there will be a never ending bunch of infected that you will have to deal with. You will normally also run into your first batch of Corrupted. You will recognize them as they seem to be on fire and you will hear a sizzling sound. These can be tricky to deal with. First, any disc with a single hit will destroy them. That's good. However, if they hit you they will corrupt you for a time meaning you can't use your disc until the fire goes out - that's bad. Once the door is open, you will see Gibson standing on a walkway that is starting to derezz. There is a disc station just past the door. You can stop and use it before meeting Gibson and starting the timer on the bridge. Run across the bridge. A cut scene will kick off once you make it across and Abraxas will make an appearance. You will get control of Anon in the Kernal Reactor Monitor and receive a new objective to Escape from Abraxas. In this next section all you need to remember is to keep Anon running toward YOU. Just like he is trying to run out of the TV screen. For those with a 3D boob tube - this can get really wild! Hold down the R1 button and keep the left stick pulled toward you (down, if you prefer that terminology) and pretend you are in the Olympics. Don't worry about things that fall in front of you - Anon will leap them automatically. Now...Run Forrest RUN! You will end with the slamming of a door and find yourself in Energy Reactor Processor 14. You will get a short cut scene that gives you a camera layout of this room. The goal is to activate three control panels in 80 seconds. Two of them are easy to get to - the third is a bit tricky. Start by turning left and jumping over some power regen consoles to a higher platform. Control panel #1 is here. Now turn around and jump down, cross the area to a mirror image platform on the other side. Jump the power regen consoles to reach it and activate control panel #2. Stay on this platform and turn to the right. You will see a power regen console with a circle on the wall. Climb the wall at this point to reach a grip point. Then jump to the right to another grip. Now jump up and walk the wall on an ETC above you and do a back flip onto one of the reactor legs. You will automatically grab an edge. Just keep jumping to the right until the camera angle shifts up. Jump up onto a small platform above you. Then jump the small gap to the final control panel. Activate it. A cut scene will follow and Abraxas breaks into the reactor. You escape with Gibson to end up in an engagement area with a new foe. Black Guard: Katana Variant. There are one of two ways to deal with him. Either keep your distance and pepper him with your Corruption Disc equipped, or get up close and ground slam him. You also now have a new objective: Escape Bostrum Colony. Now, before yo beat these guys, you have to get up on the higher level to your left. Walk up and back flip off the green vertical ETC up here to grab the HEAVY SENTRIES [HS] Tron File. Once you beat these bad guys, another cut scene follows and you get to ride on Flynn's Light Cycle. The light track on the right wall will guide you as to which way to go. There is a Tron File here. To get it, slow down after your first big jump. You will begin to enter a tunnel and the BASICS [BA] file will be in the middle of the road. At the end of the ride, you meet up with Gibson in a cut scene and he tries to be all heroic. This ends up badly as he gets infected by Abraxas and now you gotta beat him. This fight takes place in the Energy Test Excavation Site 4 and you have the objective: Defeat the Infected Gibson. BOSS FIGHT: Infected Gibson [BF2] This is actually a three stage fight. A couple of notes on this area. It's a big circle with a pillar in the center. The green lightning stripes are ETCs and the white launch pads are power regens. These power regens are super chargers and give you more back then a normal cyclinder or console. There is lots of infection around so watch where you step. Some of this stuff will also do the disappear-reappear trick. You should do a lot of running, jumping and climbing through this. To make matters a little more interesting, there is both an Abraxis Disc Shard and a Tron File in this area. The best time to go after both of these is after the first time Gibson fights off his infection in Stage 1. He holds off reverting back to his infected form until you hit him the first time - so you have a little time to hunt and collect these two items. GIBSON Tron File [GB]: This is floating high up between two second level platforms facing away from the vertical green ETC strip on the center area pillar. (You can see it if your back is to the green stripe on the pillar and you look up). 5th Abraxis' Disc Shard [AB5]: If your back is to the green stripe on the center pillar and you look slightly to your left on the second level platform you will see a rock pillar with a green vertical stripe of its own. Jump up to that platform and get behind that pillar. Then do the wall climb and back flip off the pillar and onto the wall, climb a little ways up the wall and you will grab the shard. Stage 1: Equip your bomb disc. You can only damage Gibson when he is able to shake off his own infection. Stay away from him until he does. Keep him in sight and then power strike him while he is normal. He'll clue you in when he can be hit by saying stuff like, "What are you waiting for - take the shot!" Once you have cut his health down by about a third you will head into... Stage 2: Equip your stasis disc. Gibson jumps into ETCs and infects them (turns them white). You have to find these strips and attack them. You don't need to power strike them, a regular combo will do the trick and it will save you the energy. Now you are going to have to start dealing with corrupted and infected. They come in waves. Each wave will correspond to Gibson infecting an ETC. Once he infects the strip turning it bright white - get over there and destroy it. Then wipe out the wave of infected. During this time, Gibson will jump into the fight - stay away from him since you can't hurt him and he likes to corrupt you (meaning you temporarily can't strike back). Once you have cleared out all the infected. Gibson will infect another ETC and you will get another wave. Rinse and repeat - destroy the infected ETC and then wipe out the wave of bad guys. You get to do this four complete times. After the fourth time, you will now be in... Stage 3: Equip your bomb disc. Gibson will stumble out of an infected wall in a weakened state. Just repeatedly power strike him until its over. A cut scene will follow showing the death of Gibson and then you will find yourself in a rocky place and given the objective: Find a Way Out of the Cave. Run forward toward the white stripe and walk up it and back flip to another white stripe and walk up it then back flip onto a platforom with a launch pad on your left. Use it to reach another white stripe and wall walk to another platform. Turn left and use the white stripe here to wall walk and then leap left to reach a grip point. Jump up to another grip and then jump up to a ledge. There will be a wall in front of you. Climb to the top and find another wall. This time when you climb it be quick to run to the right and get off of it since it will crumble away. There will be a vertical white stripe on the left wall. Climb and walk it, then backflip to another white stripe and climb and walk it to backflip to a higher ledge. Turn around and find the platform across the way. It is just to the left of the white stripe on the far wall. You can actually make this sprint jump or you can use the wall (nope - there are no markings to tell you to use this wall) to walk to the far platform. You will find a white stripe on the wall. Use it to wall walk and leap to the right across the gap to a grip point. Jump up to the next grip. Now jump to the left three times until the camera angle shifts up. Jump up to a higher platform. As soon as you get there turn right and climb that wall quick since this platform is about to disintegrate. Now use the white stripe to wall walk and leap to the right to another white stripe which you will wall walk and leap again to the right onto a platform. Turn to the right and find a vertical white stripe and do the wall climb and backflip trick to reach a higher platform. Another vertical stripe will be up here - backflip time again. Be quick up here as these two sections of platform will break away. You should run to a small hallway with a launch pad. Use it to reach a far platform with a disc station. This is a checkpoint and also completes the cave objective. You will now be given a new objective: Find the Outland Highway. You are now in the Western Outlands. Begin by using the white stripe just past the disc station to wall walk and leap left to the far platform. The FLYNN [FL] Tron file is hovering over on this platform. You can jump to get it. Use the vertical stripe here to climb up to a higher level that has a launch pad on it. Launch yourself to a farther platform where two Sentries will have to be beaten. Then use the white stripe to the right to wall walk and leap left to another stripe to wall walk and leap right to a platform. Climb up the wall here to find a vertical white stripe. Use it to backflip to another stripe and then back flip again to a higher ledge. Do a sharp right u-turn up here to find the launch pad. Use it to cross to a walkway with a green glowing square tile. Folow it to the left and use the launch pad you find here to enter an engagement area. Defeat all the Sentries and then run across the deactivated ETC stripes to open the door. These do not have to be done in any order. Run through the passageway and turn left. Use the launch pad to reach the platform in the distance and turn right. Use this launch pad to reach a stripe that you can wall walk then leap left onto a vertical stripe. DO NOT backflip off this stripe - just climb up it to the platform above. Use the stripe up here to wall walk and leap right to a lower platform with a launch pad. Use this launch pad to reach a green strip to wall walk and leap right onto a lower platform with another launch pad. Your objective will now be complete. Launch yourself into the engagement area. Beat the Sentries here and you will hop on the Light Cycle and be given a new objective: Beat the Regulator to Arjia City. You will begin driving through the West/North Outland Border Zone. You will travel through The Arjia Conduit. This drive isn't as rough as the previous one, but you will have lots of maneuvering to do. You have to keep some speed (blister the long straightways and good highway areas), but you can slow up a bit through the areas where big rocks block the road. Stay to the center on all jumps after the rocks. The ANON [AN] Tron file will be dead center after the landing of one of them. Keep your eyes open on the roadways you are going to land on WHILE YOU ARE IN MID-AIR. If you see you are going to miss the Tron File - hit the Start button and select restart to try from the last checkpoint. If you miss it and hit the follow on checkpoint..uh, oh. The
only way now is to replay the ENTIRE chapter and you don't want to have to go through that! At the end you will now be in... ============================================================================== Chapter 6 - The Approach [CH6] You begin with the objective: Bypass the Sentry Blockade. Start by walking forward and entering Arjia. There will be a disc station on your right. Make sure your bomb disc is equipped. Now, continue forward into the engagement area. This is Jalen Plaza. You will find yourself in a circular area with two tanks and a large pillar in the center. Floating high up right in front of that pillar is the LIGHTDISC [LD] Tron File. You have to do a jump and wall climb. You want to take the tanks on one at a time. Run toward the left side tank, get along side of it and ground slam. Once it is beaten, use the power regen near the center pillar to recharge and then deal with the other tank in the same manner. Avoid getting run over and dodge and roll to make aiming their main guns tougher. Once you have beaten them you will get a tank of your own and a new objective: Blast Your Way to the Hub. First thing you want to do is use the right stick to align your main gun with the direction of your tank. Now drive forward a small ways then stop and deal with a series of Gates that will come at you. Once they are cleared drive forward into the next circular area and engage the tank on the left and the dismounted troops. You gotta shoot and move into this area at the same time or the tank will stay hidden behind the road walls and Gates will bomb you off the highway. Gates will also start dropping in behind the tank. Waste them all and drive out the left side of this area. Follow the road, killing Gates as they fly overhead and then another tank before entering another circular area. Again, deal with the tanks, Gates and dismounts. Now drive out the right side of this area and you should see what looks like a large pillar with a button on it. There are actually four buttons, one on each side. For now - ignore them and waste all the bad guys first. When you drive into this area, containment fields will drop so you are stuck fighting in this itty bitty little place. You should be able to just sit still and fire away. One surprise tank will appear directly behind you a bit into the fight. Just rotate your turret to deal with him. Once all the bad tanks are gone - you can shoot the buttons. This time, however, there is a time limit so your shooting while driving skills need to be up to par or you will get frustrated quick. Once you hit all four buttons in the alloted time - one of the force fields will drop. Drive through that area and deal with the bad guys here. Drive to the circular area, deal with the tanks and then turn left. More tanks and Gates are waiting for you. Drive and shoot, my good friend. Driving and shooting to the next circular area, turn right. Continue the fight and drive under what looks like a downed pipe of some kind. Drive to the end of this road killing everything as you go. At the end, a Gate will bomb you and you are back on foot. Follow the walkway to the left, up the stairs and to a disc station. You should now be in the hub. As you walk into the central section, containment fields will seal you in and you will have to deal with a couple of waves of Sentries. Smoke 'em and when the last one dies, a force field will lift showing you the way out. Before you leave, look on the second level to the right of where you entered behind two launch pads. Floating in the air will be the RADIA [RA] Tron File. Just run jump and walk up the pillar to get it. Now exit this area and run down the large hallway and a cut scene will take over. You learn that Clu has launched an all out sneak assault on the ISOs. You watch as Clu has Abraxas destroy Radia during which you find out that this virus is just a corrupted version of Jalen that Clu created. Quorra is a tad bit upset. This ends up beign your shot at Abraxas and that is your new objective: Defeat Abraxas. BOSS FIGHT: Abraxas II [BF3] First, you are going to want to toggle between the bomb and stasis discs. The bomb disc will do heavy damage to Abraxas when available, but only the stasis disc will take out the infected that pop up to trouble you. This fight is also a multi-staged affair like the previous boss fights and there is both a Tron File and the final Abraxis' Disc Shard here. There are plenty of power regens and ETCs when you need them. So let's begin... ABRAXIS Tron File [AX]: Directly across from where you begin you will see a horizontal ETC strip on the left with the Tron File floating near its end. Get over there and wall walk the strip to get it. 6th Abraxis' Disc Shard [AB6]: Directly across from where you begin on the far wall is a vertical blue ETC. Do the jump, climb and back flip off it then activate your Mag disc to use the grab point which will throw you into the shard. Stage 1: You gotta wait until he performs a ground slam. To do this, you want to stay in the hold L1 mode to deflect as much damage as possible and keep some distance. You don't want to get hit with the ground slam - it hurts and it takes away time that you could be wailing on him. As he jumps in the air, do a dodge move to avoid all damae and once he hits the ground, use the bomb disc to perform a ground slam of your own. After a couple of these when his health drops by about half, you will move on to... Stage 2: You are directed to move him under the falling debris. This is done by staying in L1 Hold and walking around. you will see the floor start to glimmer as glass falls on it. Get this section of floor directly between you and Abraxas, then walk backwards. He will walk forwards right under it and... WHAMO! He'll take the hit. You will notice, however, that this time even when you block his disc you take a little bit of damage anyway. Keep an eye on your health. You can also use the Parry move to hold him in place for a second or so. The final piece that falls from the ceiling destroys him (bug squish). A cut scene follows and you get a talking to by Flynn. He wants you to go get Quorra who is aboard Clu's big battleship, and he upgrades your disc. You are now in... ============================================================================== Chapter 7 - End of Line [CH7] As soon as you get control of Anon, turn around. Start heading toward the rock path on your left. You are in the Outlands and have a new objective: Find a Way onto the Regulator. Climb the large rock stairs to the top where there is a launch pad. Now look to the right and you should see the OUTLANDS Tron File [OU] hovering above a platform in the far distance. Go over and jump and climb that rock to get it. Now go back and use the launch pad to reach a green stripe and wall walk and leap right onto a vertical stripe where you do the walk up and back flip thing. On this higher platform, turn to right and jump the gap to a lower platform. Continue forward and jump the gap to an even lower platform that has a launch pad on it. Launch yourself to a green stripe and wall walk and leap to the right to a grip point. Jump up and then follow this pathway to the left. You should see another grip point on a far wall - jump over and grab it. Jump up to another grip point then up again to the top of this platform. You should see a higher platform with a launch pad on it slightly to the left in front of you. Jump across the gap and climb up to this pad. Then use it to launch yourself onto a grip point. Jump right and around the corner and then right and around a second corner and drop down on the ledge below. Turn around and find a launch pad that will send you to a green stripe so you can wall walk and leap right into an engagement area. Defeat the Sentries here and then use the grip point on the far wall to reach a higher grip point. Jump to the top of the next platform from here. Turn to the right and use the green stripe to wall walk and leap left to another stripe, then wall walk and leap right to another stripe, then wall walk and leap left to land on a lower platform. Drop down into the engagement area and beat the Sentries here. When you are done, climb the raised section in the center and look around. Locate the platform with the launch pad on it - then drop down run over and climb that platform. It will be the one with two green glowing squares at its base. Use the launch pad to reach another platform with another launcher, this one aimed at a green stripe. Use it to wall walk to another ledge. Climb the wall here and enter a small tunnel. Follow the tunnel to a disc station and a vertical green stripe just beyond it. Use the stripe for the walk up the wall and backflip maneuver to reach another vertical stripe and then walk up and backflip again to reach the next higher level platform. Use the green stripe on your left to wall walk and leap right to another platform. Turn to the left and jump the gap to a lower platform. Then continue forward and jump the gap to a platform with a launcher. For this one there is no need to time anything - just launch yourself into the air - the cut scene will pick you up and you will grab a Gate for a ride to the Regulator. Your objective is now complete. Once you get control of Anon, you will have a few Sentries to deal with and you have a new objective: Locate Quorra. Once all the Sentries are beaten, a little bridge will appear. Use it to access an orange ETC to wall walk to another ledge. Then use the next ETC to wall walk and leap left to grab a grip point. You will round a corner then jump left onto the middle grip point and then jump left again around the corner, then left again until the camera angle changes upward. Now jump up to the top of this ledge and you will see another grip point on the far wall. Climb up to it and then jump up to a higher ledge. Once up top, turn to the left and use the ETC to wall walk over to the far platform and beat the Sentries you see there. Once they are done for, turn around and look up. You will see the BLACK GUARD Tron File [BG]. Just walk up the side of the wall to get it. Turn around and now use the next ETC to reach the farthest ledge with the disc station on it. Turn slightly left and you will see a Mag disc grab point. Use it to slingshot into the lower engagement area. This is Recog Launch Terminal 52 and there will be quite a few Sentries to deal with. The Hold L1 and Parry works very well here. When they are all beat, a small bridge will appear giving you access to the other side of this area. In the far corner is a control panel. Go over and activate it, and another small bridge will appear and lead you to another engagement area. More Sentries will come out the door here. This is Armament Loading Consoles 4B. Once the last Sentry is defeated, two control panels will appear. Activate both of them to engage a lift elevator. Get on the elevator. When you get to the top you will have some Sentries to deal with. Once they are beaten, note the opening in the railing. Jump off through this opening onto the conveyor below. Watch for the trams traveling since you will need to jump their top rigging or you will take damage and possibly get shoved off and then derezzed. This is the Bomb Conveyance Network. Proceed forward and then take the first left. There should be a Sentry standing on a rig here - beat him up and continue forward. The path will bend to the right and you should see an engagement area slightly below your level and far in the distance. That is your goal. Take the next available right and then proceed down (jumping rigs as needed) until you see a Sentry on a rig to your right. Branch over there and deal with him (you don't want to leave him behind you) then return back to your original path and jump down into that engagement area. This area has lots of glowing orange outlines. Beat the Sentries here and then locate the orange circles on the wall to the far right as you face the far right door. Use them to wall walk and leap to the right to grab a grip point. You will go around the corner and then jump to the right again to go around another corner then jump to the right again. The camera angle will change to allow you to see a Mag disc grab point. You want to jump up the wall and walk a few steps, then do the backflip thing and engage the Mag point in mid-air. This will get you to the higher ledge. Follow the ledge around to the left where you will find more circles on the wall. Once again wall walk and leap to the right to latch onto a grip point. Now jump up to a higher level platform where a Sentry will be waiting. Beat him into the recycling bin and notice a small wall with a circle on it just to the right of where the Sentry started from. It works exactly like a launch pad. Just run at it holding the R1 button and Anon will leap over it to a higher ledge. Follow this ledge to the left and jump the small gap to the next higher ledge. Now, with your back to the door you are going to sprint jump back onto the conveyor belts below you. Just be careful not to jump directly in front of a passing rig. In the far distance and slightly to your left, you will see what looks like a tall door outlined in thin glowing orange. That's your goal. Run to the left and then take a right then another left and jump off the conveyor onto the ledge below. Turn to the right and deal with a couple of Sentries. There is a disc station here. Now enter the large doorway and drop down the hole in the floor at the end of the hall. When you land, take the door on your left. This will lead to a small hall and another door which puts you in Bomb Bay 7X along with a ton of Sentries. Use the Hold L1 and Parry move along with a ground slam or two to make this a simple fight. When you have beaten them all the door on the other side opens. Go through it to reach Cooling Alcove B. You should be on a ledge with a disc station and a launch point to your right. Use the launch point to fly over and grab a thin orange ledge. Drop down to the thin orange ledge below that. And then drop once again to the floor below. You will get a cut scene with a camera sweep showing you your next challenge - wall walk and leap back and forth down a steam-shooting bottomless corridor. Too easy - no tricks needed, just get going and don't worry about health. There are two ETCs at the end to revive you. So what are you waiting for? GO! When you get to the end, run up the right ETC and backflip onto the platform above the left ETC. Walk to the door on the right hand wall and go through. You will have a short hall and another door. You are now in Bomb Bay 15Z along with a lot of Sentries. Same old - same old. Wipe them out. Once they are all gone, the far door will open. Walk through it onto a raised walkway. You are now in the Bomb Distribution Core. You don't need to walk anywhere. Just jump over the railing into the engagement area below. None of the doors up here open anyhow. Wipe out all the Sentries below in order to reveal two control panels. There will be quite a few bad guys to send to an early grave down here. Once the control panels are activated one of the bomb crates stops moving. Use a power strike with your bomb disc to blow it open. Now jump down into the hole below the wreckage... it's LIGHT CYCLE TIME!!! YEAAAAHHHHHH! The last Tron File can be found on this ride. As soon as you get on the bike, head up the ramped part to your left and follow the path at the top. Slightly right of center near the end of your first tunnel is the REGULATOR [RG] file. As soon as you exit the tunnel, drop down to the bottom where you started and open up the throttle. From here it is a straight shot with a couple of left-right-left tunnels thrown in for good measure. At the end it looks like you are heading straight for a wall, but the game auto ejects you from the cycle and you are now back on foot. Head up the ramp to your left where you will see a disc station. Turn to the right and you will see a circle on the wall. Climb the wall and take a few steps forward to find you have completed your objective. A cut scene will take over and you will interfere with Clu's plan to kill Quorra. You are in the Master Induction Propulsion Core and the first thing you get to deal with is three waves each complete with a couple of Black Guards. You will face all three: the Grenade Variants, the Light Staffs and the Katanas. The game will spell out their weaknesses, though you probably remember them from before. They are gonna come with some extra Sentry help which can make for a rough fight, but there are lots of power regens and ETCs to keep you in the battle for as long as it takes. Just be carfeul not to accidentally jump off the platform while usng them. Once you have finished all three waves, a cut scene will take over and guess who's back... BOSS FIGHT: Abraxas III [BF4] Like all the others, this is also a battle by stages. Your bomb and stasis discs will be your best friends. You start off with... Stage #1 - You gotta destroy the energy core that Abraxas is leaching. This is not as easy as it sounds since he will constantly be sending out these random bolts of lightning that explode over a giant area. In addition, infected will start crawling over the side of the platform to mess with you and they ALWAYS start climbing over the side nearest the energy core you gotta destroy first. Don't get locked into fighting - focus on that energy core. If you don't - those lightning bolts are gonna do you in quick. Use the bomb disc power strike to take out the energy core. This will reveal two control panels positioned around the center section. Go and activate them. This will cause the central reactor to send out an energy pulse taking about twenty percent of Abraxas' health. It will also strip you of all your energy forcing you to recharge with a power regen before going after the next energy core. You gotta go through this cycle four times to get to... Stage #2 - Abraxas will jump into the central core and try to leach from there directly. You will now have lots of corrupted running lose. Ignore them and use bomb disc power strikes on that central core. It will take a few hits but eventually will give up the ghost and that will lead you to the final cut scene...I'm not going to ruin the ending...you can enjoy it for yourself. And, in the immortal words of Porky Pig, "Tha-tha-tha-that's all folks!" ============================================================================== ANNEX A: Combat Tactics [AA] NOTE: On the Casual level, there is very little real concern for tactics. Button smashing works on nearly every engagement with only one real concern: make sure you are using the Stasis Disc on the Infected. Light Tank [LT]: The first and most important aspect of fighting with the tank is being proficient in maneuver. The main gun and elongated front end need to be closely aligned in order to make steering simple. Second, for nearly all engagements, the ability to shoot and move at the same time is critical. This is especially helpful when there are dismounts running around since you can run them over while at the same time shooting the larger targets (like Gates and other Tanks). While I have tried all the other discs, the Bomb is by far and away the most effective. The L2 button can be helpful, if you can close in tight with the enemy. It is especially effective against the dismounted. Don't forget to continue using the R2 to shoot even after you release the L2 area attack. You should have noted that the main gun has a slight left bias (off centered). This gives you an advantage once you secure barricades. You can inch around the left side, open a shooting lane while making yourself a smaller target by protecting the majority of your tank behind the barricade. Finally, always fight BEHIND ground ETCs, if possible. Then, if your health starts to run low, you simply drive forward and regenerate. HOWEVER, if you use this tactic - I strongly encourage you to charge into the enemy position after you have used it. Individual [IN]: While there is a host of combinations available, you will quickly find the one that suits your particular play style. The most effective is the HOLD L1 and Parry. It limits the amount of damage you take while affording you some offensive capability. In addition, by postioning yourself near the center point of the bad guys, you can set off ground slams as needed. You can also walk around in the HOLD L1 mode and pick-up the power regen crystals that dead bad guys leave behind to recharge for more ground slams. Additionally, you can walk and position yourself near ETCs or power regens as you see fit. This is also the mode that allows you to dodge and roll (while holding L1, press X and jam the left stick in the direction you want to roll or dodge to). KNOW YOUR ENEMY. Especially at higher difficulty levels. On the Insanity level, these guys can take quite a bit of punishment. You have got to deal the maximum amount or you won't last long. To do that, you must be able to recognize which bad guy you are facing and what their weaknesses are. That means you have to know them ON SIGHT and not experiment to figure it out or wait for your scanner to tell you. This also assumes that you understand that you will often have to change discs frequently in a fight. Get used to it - that's what makes the HOLD L1 tactic so beneficial. You can assume the defensive while you get the lay of the land and not take a lot of damage when you do it. In short, it gains you time. WHEN THINGS GET BUSY. There are several areas, to include boss fights, where there are a lot of enemies running all over the place. I mean ALOT. The HOLD L1 tactic will limit, but not completely stop the damage they inflict. So... how do you gain time? The answer: use the Stasis Disc with the Stasis Mod Auxiliary Upgrade. With this, as long as you don't move - bad guys will not target you. In effect - you can observe the entire battle ground and identify the disc and tactic you will need to be most effective. It's sort of like a magical invisibility power and not even Abraxas can see you. The hard part is getting yourself to JUST STAND THERE. Most gamers are a bit jumpy by nature, and when they suddenly find themselves in a room full of enemies they want to take immediate action. You gotta break that habit if you want to be effective using this tactic. THE REALLY TOUGH GUYS. Again, the Stasis Disc is your friend. First, not even Abraxas can see through the Stasis Mod Auxiliary so as long as you stand still he won't attack. Second, being in the HOLD L1 or while activating a Control Panel is the same as standing still. Third, when you hit even the tough guys with a Stasis Disc power move they go into slo-mo. As soon as they do, you can switch to a different disc and blast them a few times. Then, right as they get ready to return to full speed, you switch back to the Stasis Disc and hit them with another power move to keep them in slo-mo. Additionally, if you are fighting on a platform, you can switch to the Bomb Disc while they are slowed and by using power shots, you can knock them off which is an instant derezz. Abraxas is the only bad guy who you can't knock off a platform and instantly kill him. But...Black Guards can be which makes those fights sooooo much easier. You should now be armed with all you need to whip this thing even on Insanity. Maybe, if you look hard enough...you'll find me on the Grid. Of course that leaves the unasked question...do you really want to meet me...well, do you... Program? END OF LINE
