My name is Benjamin and I have visited GameFAQs since 1997 and became a member in 2005. I wanted to start a FAQ about this game because it's a very addictive and fun game that'll keep you busy for hours. Any mistakes that I make or requests (see Wanted section) please e-mail me at supbanjo01(at)hotmail.com. I will give credit to anyone that tells me something that I don't know. Worms is a Turn Based Strategy (TBS) game that combines fun cartoonish graphics and a slightly complicated yet fun gameplay. It has over 10 titles and are well known throughout the world. Worms 3D is the first to be made in a 3D engine. Team 17 made a great job of taking the difficult leap of 2D -> 3D without messing the essence of the game. So with that said enjoy my FAQ and please bear with me since my grammar may be a bit rusty. ******************************************************************************* 2)Version History ******************************************************************************* Version 0.10 - 8/31/05 - Decided to write a FAQ about Worms 3D Version 0.60 - 9/7/05 - Added some missions. Finished Armory, Easter Eggs, and Awards. Corrected many mistakes. Version 0.65 - 10/3/05 - Sorry about the late update but I took a small break :P. Added new missions. ******************************************************************************* 3) Wanted ******************************************************************************* This wanted section informs of any things that I want to know (i.e. Weapon rumors, gold requirements, etc.) 1. Worms 3D ASCII title - I want a nice title to go with my FAQ but unfortunately I have no idea of how to make one so anyone that does please tell me how to or send me one of your own. Obviously, i'll give credit to anyone that gives me what I need. Please in ASCII characters only. 2. Weapon/Utilities Rumors - I want confirmations on some weapon rumors or any weapons that I may miss. 3. Corrections to or alternative - Feel free to correct me on anything that Walkthroughs I wrote or if you have an alternative way on beating a level. 4. Multiplayer Awards - Any awards that are not listed are welcome. ******************************************************************************* 4) FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) ******************************************************************************* Coming Soon!! ******************************************************************************* 5) Controls ******************************************************************************* The Gameplay on Worms 3D is slightly complicated but quick to get used to. Old favorites return and new ones arise. Here is a list of all (hopefully) weapons in the game that I have seen, so they are confirmed. If I am missing one please email me. They are listed like so: Name ~ Info. ~ Short history and fun facts. Usage ~ How to aim and where Damage ~ How much health it takes away and it's blast radius (small, medium, medium big, big, and huge) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- a) Weapon Strategies ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bazooka ~ Info. ~ Old Faithful. The classic wepon in the worms arsenal had to show up in this 3D version. Very Difficult to use but very helpful. Greatly affected by wind. Usage ~ This weapon shoot in an arc. The stronger you shoot, the longer the arc will form and vice versa. Keep this in mind when using it. To hit targets far away, You need to aim higher than the target and use the proper strength. The distance between you and the target will tell you how much power to use. Be careful not to overshoot the target. Pay close attention to the wind speed because it is greatly affected by it. Using the arc aiming, you need to change the trajectory to the opposite direction to where the wind is blowing. The wind speed will tell you how much. If the wind is strong enough, you can us it to your advantage to make the bazooka go further. It can also skim across the water if thrown with enough force and almost parallel to water level. Damage ~ approx. 45 and does a medium blast radius. Homing Missile ~ Info. ~ Also returning, the homing missile does the same amount of damage than the bazooka and is much easier to use. Homing and deadly, it makes a great weapon. Not affected by wind. Usage ~ To master the Homing Missile, you need to know how to throw it. First you go to the Blimp view and press A over whereever you want it to hit. Next, go to the 1st person view and aim it towards the target high enough to clear any obstacles (mountains, trees, etc.) and shoot with a considerable amount of power. I wouldn't recomend trying to shoot someone behind a mountain because chances are you'll miss. Damage ~ Same as Bazooka. Mortar ~ Info. ~ I don't remember if this was on the other games so if someone knows, please let me know. Anyways, the Mortar fires a cannonball and when it hits, it separates into 4 clusters. You can't control the power so you need to learn to use that to your advantage. It isn't the best weapon but when used correctly, it can do a considerable amount of damage. Not affected by wind. Usage ~ The best way to use the Mortar is in small areas where the enemy is close. A good tactic is to aim it until the aiming arrow is near the top and shoot. This is good to let the shell go over a mountain and hit an opponent on the other side. The tricky part is to use the clusters effectively. This depends on the angle that the cannonball hits. Damage ~ approx. 10 with the shell (cannonball) impact and another 10 with each cluster. Has a small blast radius. Homing Pigeon ~ Info. ~ Makes his reappearance this time and it's even funnier! This may be the most unreliable weapon in the entire game. Read along to find out why. Not affected by wind. Usage ~ You use it exactly like the Homing Missile but when it come to aiming in 1st person, I suggest to aim it straight up or where there are no obstacles. The good thing about it is that it avoids to hit obstacles unlike the Homing Missile, but there are times when it makes contact with the target and doesn't explode! It just tries to peck it and if it doesn't blow up after a while, it gives up and flies away! Although VERY unreliable, it is super fun to use (because you never know if it'll hit) and very powerful. Damage ~ approx. 70 in a direct hit. Medium-big blast radius. Grenade ~ Info. ~ Once again retuurning, the grenade is the second basic weapon and a bit different from those mentioned above. I'd say the hardest thing about it is when calculating the fuse time (see usage). Not affected by wind. Usage ~ The grenade is a fuse weapon. You can set the fuse time by pressing the Z Button until it's set to the time you want. After that, you use it like the Bazooka but it doesn't explode when it makes contact. That's when making the right fuse time is crutial. The stronger you shoot it, the further it'll go and you wont need much fuse. Default fuse time is 3 secs. The best areas to use it are in holes or confined areas where it won't get too far from the target. Damage ~ approx. 45 in a direct hit. Medium blast radius. Cluster Bomb ~ Info. ~ Combination of Grenade and Mortar, the Cluster Bomb is a fuse weapon that when explodes, separates into 5 smaller clusters. Not the favorite weapon in previous Worms games but nevertheless strategic. Not affected by wind. Usage ~ Used exactly like the greande. The only advice I could give you is to try and get the cluster to hit the same spot or your opponent. Not very useful. Damage ~ 10 with impact and 10 for each cluster that hits. Small blast radius. Gas Canister ~ Info. ~ A new weapon in the worms arsenal, the gas canister makes a big green gas cloud that poisons any unfortunate worm that is near. Great for slow deaths and long games. Also a fuse weapon with the exception that you cannot control the fuse time. Once it's fuse runs out and it stays still, the gas comes out. Not affected by wind. Usage ~ throw like a greande. The stronger the power, it will go further. Try to infect various worms in an enclosed area so the canister won't bounce off into the water. Damage ~ 3 per turn. No blast radius. Holy Hand Grenade ~ Info. ~ Let there be light. Or in this case massive destruction. The Holy Hand Grenade is one of the most powerfull and fun weapons in the game and one of my favorites. Coming back from Worms 2, this weapon packs a punch. Not affected by the wind. Usage ~ Pretty easy to handle. Like the gas canister, it's fuse cannot be controlled. Default fuse time is 3 secs. You shouldn't use much power when throwing because it goes pretty far with a small amount of power and it bounces a lot. This and the fact that it has to stay still to explode is it's only downside. Most effective when thrown to the middle of the terrain and where there's no water around. Damage ~ 100 max. Blast radius is Huge. Banana Bomb ~ Info. ~ Returning once again, this fruit is a bit hard to master but is very powerful. Another fuse, 5 cluster weapon. It's VERY bouncy so you cannot just leave it in front of your opponent. You need to set the fuse time for the banana bomb to explode directly above the target. Not affected by the wind. Usage ~ To make proper use of the banana bomb, you need to calculate how many seconds it would take for it to get to your target. Set the fuse time and throw with the proper amount of power. I'd say a little more than half the bar. Hopefully the bomb will explode near target and it's clusters can finish the job. You can also use the landscape to your advantage. This is by throwing it towards the ground so it bounces and may have better accuracy. Damage ~ Not sure but think 75 max. Blast radius is big. Shotgun ~ Info. ~ Another classic weapon, the shotgun is unique. It allows two shots and is fairly easy to use. Very usefull. You can move around between shots. Usage ~ When selected, and in 1st person view, aim to your target. If it's far away, it will be harder to hit because your poor worm's hands shake. In other words, you don't have a steady target marker. Other than that, it's very usefull to finish off weak Worms. Damage ~ 25 per shot so 50 max. Blast radius is very small. Uzi ~ Info. ~ Similar to the shotgun and returning physically better, the Uzi is the ideal weapon to punish weak worms. You can still aim while firing Usage ~ Unlike the Shotgun, this has one round that is fired in one go. As a bonus, the enemy worm can be pushed pretty far and possibly to the water. Damage ~ 50 max. Bast radius is very small. Petrol Bomb ~ Info. ~ The Petrol Bomb or "Molotov Cocktail" returns. It explodes on impact and leave the area where it hit in flames. Powerful if used correctly. Not affected by wind. Usage ~ The best strategy is to try and hit the enemy worm with full power and directly so it will go flying away. If not, it would be surrounded by flames and will trap him for a while. Damage ~ approx 20 on impact and flames do 1 or 2. Blast radius none. Sticky Bomb ~ Info. ~ This is the best new weapon in the game because it will stick to the first thing it makes contact with. Another fuse weapon and it is not affected by the wind. Usage ~ Same as Grenades. You don't have to worry if it bounces because it sticks! Damage ~ approx 40. Blast radius is Medium Blow Pipe ~ Info. ~ New weapon and quite useless. Its hard to hit a worm and it only poisons him. Not very fun neither but funny when you realize how useless it is. :) Usage ~ Same as shotgun Damage ~ Not sure if 1 or 3 per turn. No blast radius. Fire Punch ~ Info. ~ Comes back from the original worms. Usefull to throw enemy worms into the water. Pretty fun and easy to use. It will cut any terrain that's above the worm. Usage ~ Stand directly in front of your opponent and press A to execute. Try to send them to any landmines or into the water as a damage bonus. Damage ~ 30. Not exactly a blast but it does destroy landscape so I'd say very small. Baseball Bat ~ Info. ~ A very fun weapon returns. With this weapon, you can easily send your opponent flying off the landscape with greater force than the Fire Punch. Combined with the Low Gravity utility, it's very deadly. Usage ~ Control the trajectory with directional pad or control stick in FPV just be sure to be aiming all the way up and your standing in front of the enemy worm to send it far away. Damage ~ 30. No blast radius Viking Axe ~ Info. ~ Another returning weapon, the VIking Axe is very stragetic and a bit harder to use. It has the ability to cut the enemy worm's health half-way down so it's best used when a opponent's worm has more than 100 health. Usage ~ A bit hard to master. DO NOT stand directly in front of your opponent. There needs to be a small distance between your worm and the target worm so the axe will hit. Practice. Damage ~ 1/2 current health. No blast radius Prod ~ Info. ~ Ah yes Prod...Probably many gamer's favorite weapon. This does no damage. Instead, it gives the enemy a small push in the intended direction. Usage ~ No need to explain. Simply stand directly in front of the worm you want to push and press A to prod. Use on worms that are near the edge of water. Just be sure that your worm's not slightly higher than enemy worm. Damage ~ None Land Mine ~ Info. ~ Another classic weapon, the mine gives the enemy a decent blow and they are scattered throughout all levels. Nice design. :P Usage ~ Place with A in front of enemy worm and get away! It can also be placed while wearing a Jetpack, Parachute, or Ninja Rope. Be sure not to leave it too far away from target or it won't trigger. Damage ~ I think 55 max. Blast radius is medium big. Dynamite ~ Info. ~ Dynamite...another priceless classic returns. My personal favorite. Dynamite has a 5 second fuse and very fun to use. Usage ~ Same as landmine. Be sure to get far enough because it's very powerfull. Damage ~ 75 max. Blast radius is big. Sheep ~ Info. ~ Returning, the sheep is deadlier than before! If it encounters any obstacles in its way, it will do its best to jump them. These include other worms so don't overshoot them. Usage ~ Press A to deploy and press it once again to detonate. I suggest that you place your worm in a straight line from the enemy. Damage ~ 75 max. Balst radius is medium big Super Sheep ~ Info. ~ Returning, the super sheep amazes all with it's flying skills! Takes some practice to get used to flying it. Usage ~ Press A to deploy and once again to make it airborn. Use the control stick to move it around and the C stick to rotate it. It explodes on contact. It is not aquatic so don't get your hopes up. Damage ~ 75 max. Blast radius is medium big. Old Woman ~ Info. ~ The old farty woman returns. This weapon is surprisingly hard to use. It will explode after 10 seconds of being released or when it makes contact with a worm. Usage ~ Position yourself in a straight line from the enemy and release it. Pay close attention to the landscape beacuse anyhting that sticks up or any obstacle will make the old woman change its direction and it could backfire so keep that in mind. It also falls down cliffs so use that as you wish. Damage ~ 75 max. Blast area is huge. Mad Cow ~ Info. ~ The Mad Cow returns and it is one of the hardest weapons to use and very destructive. You can choose how many you want to throw by pressing Z. Be carful not to get hit yourself. Usage ~ They explode on contact so beware and each leaves a giant hole. They're a little unpredictable beacause you don't know exactly if something will ignit it. Keep yourself to a safe distance before throwing them. Damage ~ Each can cause up to 75! Blast radius is huge. Air Strike ~ Info. ~ Another classic, the airstrike returns a bit different. Now you can see the plane! Yay! Anyways, its very effective to finish off any last worms or attacking worms that are lined up. Usage ~ Holding the L button, move the target with the control stick and with the C stick to change the direction. Fun to use and very simple. Damage ~ 30 each missile. Blast radius is medium. Doctor's Strike ~ Info. ~ Useful in tight situations, th Doctor's Strike is a cure-all miracle! The most strategic use is to use it after a Nuclear Bomb has been detonated. Usage ~ Just like Airstrike Health ~ Whatever your health crates give. No Blast radius Lottery Strike* ~ Info. ~ A....different weapon...yes...the lottery strike will act like an airstrike but will call deadly unlucky lottery tickets, where your prize is a blast! *gets hit by reader*. Mildly Affeccted by the wind. Releases 6 tickets. Usage ~ I advise using when there is no wind because if there is, it'll make your life harder. We don't want that, do we? Use like Airstrike. Damage ~ Not sure I think its random from 1-50 Could someone confirm? Blast radius is medium Concrete Donkey* ~ Info. ~ The motherload. Behold the greatness of the Concrete Donkey. THE most powerful and rare weapon in the entire game. If someone has a different opinion, I'll hunt you down *cocks shotgun*. A rare sight in the worms game returns once again to those lucky enough to find one. Crate only unfortunately. Usage ~ Just like the Airstike, use the target to specify where you want it to go. Once deployed enjoy the beautifull sight of the Donkey destroying your opponent. Consider yourself VERY lucky if you manage to get one in multiplayer. Damage ~ 55 max. each bounce. Blast radius is Ridiculously Huge!! Earthquake ~ Info. ~ Summon the witch doctor to call on his earthquake. This weapon is very strategic. It shakes the landscape pretty rough so be sure to be in an enclosed space before using it. It moves oil drums, land mines and, of course, worms. Usage ~ The earthquake does no damage. What is interesting is that it has the power to easily throw most worms into the water or any other hazard. To use, simply select it from the weapon pannel and press A. Let the 'quake do the rest. Best used as a final resort to a nasty win. Hehehehehehe Damage ~ None Nuclear Bomb ~ Info. ~ The nuke is a stragetic weapon that causes every worm to get sick and it causes the water to rise. Usage ~ Just like the earthquake. Best used as a sudden death weapon to make your opponent as weak as you would be. Makes a good combination with the Doctor's Strike. Damage ~ Poison. 5 per turn and water rises. No blast radius but it must be Huge where it actually hit. :P !!!READ THIS!!!: Need confirmation of Mega Mine. I have never seen it but maybe you have so please let me know. *I have only seen these weapons once so I don't remember the damage or usage. Need confirmation. *Phew* That's it for the main weapons! Now onto the utilities! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- b) Utility Startegies ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **Note: Instead of damage, I'll display a number from 1-10 of how usefull it is. 10 being very useful and 1 not at all. Also note that most utilities don't finish your turn, with the exception of Scales of Justice, Freeze, Girder/Bridge Kit, Skip Go and Surrender. Jetpack ~ Info. ~ One of the most useful and fun utilities, the Jetpack had to return to Worms 3D. Usage ~ Press A to fire the throttles. A number above your worm's head displays the amount of fuel left so keep an aye on that. Alternativeley you can leave a specific explosive with Y and retreat before it blows. Also useful to go crate collecting. Usefull ~ 10/10 Ninja Rope ~ Info. ~ The hardest utility to master, yet it's still fun to see if whoever is using it actually makes it where they want. Most of the times, the worm drowns. yay :) Usage ~ It's 2D counterpart was much easier to use. Fire with A while in FPV. To shorten the rope use Z and to lengthen R. Press up on the control stick to shift your weight towards your head and down to shift weight towards tail. You can only swing in 2 dimensions. In other words, you cannot turn. Press Y to leave a specific weapon and once attached press A to let go and A while falling to re-attach it. Easy. :) Usefull ~ 6/10 Teleport ~ Info. ~ This has been in the Worms arsenal since the first worms. Great for getting around and escaping from the water in sudden death. Also usefull for quick transportaion. Usage ~ With the Blimp camera, use the control stick to place the target where you want it to go and press A to teleport. Usefull ~ 7/10 Parachute ~ Info. ~ A very useful utility. Used to move between high to low landscape area with no damage. Highly affected by the wind. Usage ~ First, be very aware of the wind directiona and power. It's great if it blows in the direction you wish to go. You can always turn left or right slighty but never go in the opposite direction. Press A while in the air to deploy and A once again to take it away. You can drop specific weapons with Y while in the air. Usefull ~ 8.5/10 Girdir ~ Info. ~ Another classic, the girdir returns once more. I like the artwork and design...very profound. Use them to create bridges and shield to protect your last worm. Usage ~ Move the girder with the control stick, the control pad spins and tilts it, L and R raise and lower it, pressing Z toggles big or small girder, and A places it. They are useful as big bridges and shields, as mentioned above. A bit complicated but easy. Usefull ~ 8/10 Bridge Kit ~ Info. ~ These are 5 Girders at once. Place them quickly because it takes some time to place 5 girders. One of the most stragetic weapon in the game. Usage ~ Great for "boxing" your worm. This means creating a barrier on all sides of your worm. Usefull ~ 7/10 Freeze ~ Info. ~ Returning, the freeze utility is used for pure strategy or to see a frozen worm. :) Usage ~ Select it, and press A to activate. Now your entire team will be frozen in an impenetrable ice shield. It also prevents frozen worms from getting sick by Nukes. Do not use when there is not much land beneath you beacuse the enemy can destroy the little land and in this game, ice doesn't float! Usefull ~ 8/10 Scales Of Justice ~ Info. ~ This little baby balances out the round. It makes all teams have the same amount of health to make things more interesting. Usage ~ Use when you have only one or two worms left while the enemy has three or four. Simply press A to activate. Usefull ~ 9/10 Binoculars ~ Info. ~ See great distances with these wonders! Usage ~ While in FPV, move binoculars with control stick, zoom in with A and zoom out with B. I use them just for the kicks of it...and to see if that's a worm or a rock in the distance :) Usefull ~ 3/10 Skip Go ~ Info. ~ Skip your turn Usage ~ Press A to skip turn. Use when you don't know what to do or when you're hiding. Usefull ~ 3/10 Surrender ~ Info. ~ Pretty self-explanatory. You give up and the enemy wins. Usage ~ Use it only as a last resort. I would use it to keep my pride from being savagely taken away by the enemy. Usefull ~ 0/10 Worm Select ~ Info. ~ Ever wanted t switch to a more well positioned worm? With this special utility you can! This is probably the most strategic utility in the game. Usage ~ Select it from the weapon pannel and press A to activate. Press Y to scroll through worms and when you get to the one you want, move it to select it. Usefull ~ 10/10 Fast Walk ~ Info. ~ This is very nifty. You get double your walking speed! Great design... Usage ~ Press A to activate and enjoy Flash speed! Usefull ~ 8/10 Low Gravity ~ Info. ~ This baby lets you jump higher and longer! This includes enemies hit by blast weapon and melee weapons. Usage ~ Press A to activate and feel the power! Usefull ~ 8/10 Red Bull ~ Info. ~ A fun new utility. It simply is Fast Walk and Low Gravity put together. Very fun. You could say it gives you wings :) Usage ~ Press A to drink Usefull ~ 9/10 Crate Spy ~ Info. ~ Only comes in Utility crates, it allows you to see what ohter crates have. Usage ~ Activates when you get it. Usefull ~ 7/10 Crate Shower ~ Info. ~ Only in ultility crates, it makes a bunch of crates appear at once. Usage ~ Activates when you get it. Usefull ~ 4/10 Double Damage ~ Info. ~ Gives you double the normal damage and blast. Excellent for using powerfull weapons like the Holy Hand Grenade. Usage ~ Activates when you get it. Usefull ~ 9/10 Double Turn Time ~ Info. ~ Doubles your actual turn time. Max. is 99 seconds. Usage ~ Activates when you get it. Usefull ~ 8.5/10 That's it for the Armory! Now onto the Walkthrough! ******************************************************************************* 7) Walkthrough ******************************************************************************* All Missions will be displayed like so: Mission name ============ Small comment of Mission and difficulty rate (1-10). 1. (Wormapedia) Movie Mayhem (level) Worm and the Beanstalk ====================== This is pretty fun to do and has a fun story. VERY important: Master the drop and deploy technique for it will come in handy in parachute challenges... 4/10 1. Get as many targets as you can with the first worm. 2. Collect any remaining targets and use the drop and deploy technique* to get to the boat faster. *Drop and Deploy Tech.: When in Parachute mode, press X and select the parachute. Press X to close the weapon panel. Now tap these buttons in this order A-X-A. When you press the first time A, your worm will close the parachute and fall rapidly. You need to quickly open the weapon panel and press A again in the proper time i.e. open the Parachute when you're about 1/2 inch above the target. Timing is crucial for this to work. Gold Requirements: Get all your worms safely to the worm quickly. Rewards: Parachute Challenge 2 (Challenge) Addiction 2? Fire Punch Hector into the water. 8. Prod Rocky into the water. EASTER EGG!: To get it, simply throw a grenade or cluster bomb through each hoop in the baskeball court. The easiest way to do it is to place your worm directly beneath the hoop, change fuse time to 5 secs., and throw it directly up with medium force. Although it's much
easier to do, it sucks the fun out of getting the easter egg. :S
Gold Requirements: Finish in less than 5 1/2 min. <--Not sure <_<
Rewards: Schools in for summer (level)
