My urge to cover more SMS FAQs however has never wavered and that is why I'm back today in the newest SEGA Master System Completion Project which is hosted on the FAQ Contributors - General Board. I have recently become the top contributor for the project, and at the moment I'm trying to help this project become bigger than the last. For this I'm choosing Power Strike II, a fast and unpredictable shooter. I'm not going to list a detailed walkthrough as it isn't mandatory for this type of game. I'd be even surprised if you managed to read this while playing the game. It is meant to learn you how to play the game and reach the end. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 2- Gameplay [A200] =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= =============================================================================== 2.1- Story [A201] =============================================================================== In the early 1930s, people have lived in poverty since the great depression in 1929. Being laid off from their job, a great amount of pilots became the sky pirates in order to survive. The sea and the sky near Italy have been plundered by them. You earn a living by shooting down these pirates, which is quite a challenge as the airplanes they had in this version of 1930 are a lot more nimble than the real ones. The game is a very fast shoot-'em-up where you need to be quick on your feet to survive. =============================================================================== 2.2- How To Play [A202] =============================================================================== This game is a fast paced shooter where you quickly need to pick up power-ups and destroy enemies while shielding yourself from enemy attacks. At the start of the game you need to select a weapon and the game lets you chose from seven different types, numbered from 0 to 6. During the game you can switch freely between types by picking up the weapon power-ups. They are the red cylinders with numbers on them. This number represents the weapon you can pick up so be careful not to pick up a weaker weapon when flying. You can be at a real dis- advantage when you have a weak weapon. _____________________________________________________________________________ / | \ | Type 0 | This weapon shoots two rows of bullets in a straight line. This | | | weapon is powerful, but you need to maneuver a lot to kill all the | | | enemies. Try to avoid picking up this weapon. It is called Shell | | | Up which doesn't sound powerful. | \________|____________________________________________________________________/ / | \ | Type 1 | This weapon is similar to Type 0, but the straightforward bullets | | | are less frequent. To make up for this disadvantage, this weapon | | | adds rockets that go sideways, which makes this an excellent | | | weapon. It is nicknamed the Shot Gun. | \________|____________________________________________________________________/ / | \ | Type 2 | The third type is called the Missile and is similar to Type 1. The | | | blue shells from the Shot Gun are replaced by red rockets with | | | this weapon. They have a smaller reach than the blue bullets, so | | | the Missile is weaker than the Shot Gun. Avoid this weapon. | \________|____________________________________________________________________/ / | \ | Type 3 | Type 3, also nicknamed the Burner, is very different from the last | | | three and is one of the best weapons in the game. It gives you two | | | extra ships next to your own and they all shoot continuously. The | | | sole disadvantage is the fact they shoot in a straight line, that | | | means you'll need to move a lot to make up for enemies on the side.| \________|____________________________________________________________________/ / | \ | Type 4 | Type 4 combines the forward motion bullets from Type 0 with weird | | | flying orbs that go off to all sides. They go straight for the | | | enemies making this a very powerful weapon. It is nicknamed the | | | Absorption. | \________|____________________________________________________________________/ / | \ | Type 5 | Type 5 sounds like the best weapon, because it has the name the | | | Destroyer and it looks very powerful too. It is a combination of | | | Type 1 and Type 2, with rockets with a wide reach and a powerful | | | impact. | \________|____________________________________________________________________/ / | \ | Type 6 | Type 6 is the second most powerful weapon and is called Napalm. It | | | looks like the Type 4 weapon, with less, but more powerful orbs. | | | The orbs make wide circles and end up in one big explosion. It is | | | a good weapon to pick up, but I prefer Type 5. | \________|____________________________________________________________________/ Once you have made your selection you can start the game and in each level you need to kill off a big enemy after shooting their henchmen. You can move freely over the screen, but it is best to stay at the bottom. This gives you the best view of the action and lets you maximalize the reach of your weapon. Because there are a lot of enemies that pop up randomly at the middle of the screen, this is very important. When you reach the bosses, this is less important as here you usually only have one enemy and you just need to aim for its weakness. Once you have defeated him, his picture on the wanted picture will be crossed through and you see your new target. The game has eight stages like this, each with their own distinct graphical style, but with the same type of gameplay. The best way to play is the game is to start off with a powerful weapon and to remain at the bottom of the screen. From here it is most prudent to stay at the middle of the screen, only moving to the left or right to avoid enemy fire. If you are fast enough, you want have any trouble with that though. If you see any P icons, quickly pick them up as they make your weapons more powerful. If you pick up the wrong weapon, you can switch back by pushing the 2 button. It gives you another weapon, while pressing 1 lets you shoot. So don't take of your hands off the button.
