See my other FAQs at: http://www.tenkuukai.com/sfc/index.html ----0. General Comments This file is best viewed using a fixed-width font. If you're looking for the answer to a specific question, but don't want to risk spoiling the rest of the game, check the "Frequently Asked Questions" section first to see if it's there. Spell are listed with the character who learns them, in the order they appear in the menu. Spells with a '*' in the Level gained column are acquired through game events. If an items has "Monster" in the Get column, it is obtained by buying it from a monster. ----I. Game overview ---1. Story Long ago, ordinary people lived side-by-side with those who could use magic. For a while, the world was peaceful. Then a powerful magic-user by the name of Satan appeared. He used his power to try to conquer the world. One day, another powerful magic-user appeared. This man defeated Satan and his monsters, and sealed them in the Underworld. The world was peaceful again, but it has become a wasteland. The man who defeated Satan ascended to the heavens to watch over the people as they rebuilt the world. The world had been divided into three parts: the heavens, the surface world, and the underworld. The story was passed from parent to child for many generations. Over time, Satan became known as the "Devil" and the man who defeated him became known as "God". 20 years ago, monsters started coming from the underworld to the surface world again, led by a demon named Lucifer. Lucifer was stopped by a hero and his three companions. Unfortunately, the hero died from wounds sustained during the battle, and his friends have disappeared. Now, monsters have started appearing again... ---2. General game advice You save the game by talking to the Journal Vendors. These are red-haired women, usually seen standing by a sign near the entrance to a town. HP and MP are restored when a character levels up. Battle commands: Party commands (first window seen in a battle): Fight, Negotiate, Run Character commands: Attack, Defend, Magic, Item, Run Command window commands (left to right, top to bottom): Magic, Status, Item, Equip, Memo, Load Magic is divided into 5 categories: Healing, Attack, Summon, Other and Support. In the battle window, only Attack, Summon, Healing and Support are available. There is no need to spend time leveling-up. The difficulty of the boss monsters in Tenshi no Uta is adjusted depending on the level of the party. If you're weak, the boss is weakened. If you're strong, it's strengthened. There are also checkpoints, which give you extra experience if you're falling behind. According to the manual, this was to make for smoother gameplay. Because of the checkpoints, the levels listed for spells in the character section may be slightly higher than they should be. There are two types of experience points in this game: regular experience and negotiation experience. Regular experience is the same is in any other RPG. Negotiation experience applies to the whole party. It affects your ability to negotiate with monsters (described in section IV). There are also two types of currency: Gimil, used by humans, and Black Coins, used by monsters. Gimil is gained by fighting monsters or negotiation. Black Coins can only be obtained during negotiation. If you forget what to do next or want to review what happened so far, use the Memo command. Leaving a character without equipment gives them a significant speed boost (+48!). This could be useful is certain situations. ----II. Characters ---1. Negotiation explanation ---1. How to negotiate It is sometimes possible to negotiate your way out of a fight. To try to negotiate, pick the second option at the start of the battle, then choose the language to use. Once you start fighting, you cannot attempt to negotiate. The success of a negotiation depends on your negotiation experience level, and the language you use. It's possible to successfully negotiate with any monster (other than boss monsters) in any language, but some combinations work better than others. You gain experience points based on whether you try to negotiate with a monster, how well you do at it, and what you do if it succeeds. At first, you don't know any languages and can only communicate through gestures and body language. New languages can be learned at Word Manors. Languages are described below. If the attempt fails, the monsters attack. If the negotiation is successful, you're given three options. There are six possible options, and which three you get is random. It's a good idea to try to negotiate as much as possible. About half the time, the monsters won't want to and you'll have to fight anyway. If you succeed, you still get experience points, and a chance at rare items. Besides, a little goodwill never hurts, and even an unsuccessful attempt will get you some negotiation experience points. ---2. Options Buy items: Sometimes monsters will sell items cheaper than you can get at stores, and sometimes items not available in stores. See below for a (partial?) list of possible items. Recieve experience: Trade a few Gimil for experience points. Recieve Gimil: Get the Gimil you would have recieved from the fight. Buy Black Coins: Black Coins are monster currency. You can use them to buy things in the monster shop. They cost 500 G apiece. Raise Friendship Level: Basically building goodwill between you and the monsters. This option gets you the most experience points. If your friendship level is high enough, wandering monsters may come help you in battle. It seemed to me that monsters with a higher friendship level were easier to negotiate successfully with. Withdraw from battle: Leave the battle without fighting. You receive half the experience you normally would. ---3. Languages Common Language: This is the language humans and monsters living on the surface world use to communicate with each other. To get to the Word Manor, go around the mountains north of Mian. it costs 1000 G. Monster language: The native language of the monsters. The Word manor is NE of Yous. It costs 3000 G. Ancient language: A language used before the world was divided. The Word Manor is on an island west of Fean. You'll need a boat to get there. It costs 8000 G. Spirit language: The language of nature spirits. The Word Manor is on an island on the south edge of the map. You'll need a boat to get there. It costs 10000 G. Underworld language: The language of monsters in the underworld. The Word Manor is on an island on the east side of the map. You'll need a boat to get there. It costs 20000 G. Hand gestures: This is how you communicate when you don't know any monster languages. It's free, but it doesn't work too well. So how do you know what language to use? One way to tell is by monster type, if you can tell what it is. In general, use Common Language for humans; Monster Language for ordinary monsters and animals; Ancient Language for undead and possibly dragons; Spirit Language for nature spirits and Underworld Language for devils and some underworld monsters. Another way to tell is to listen to what they say when you try to negotiate. For example, some monsters will say "I have nothing to say to those who cannot hear the voice of nature" when they don't want to talk. This is a clue that you should use the Spirit Language with them. Also, it appears that a negotiation using the right language will raise your friendship level by 2 points more (whether it succeeds or not) than one using the wrong language. ---4. A woodcutter living in the mountain ordered a new axe. It's finished, and MacLeod wants you to take it to him. He asks if you will. Say yes. He says that wild dogs have been seen around lately and gives Reyard a dagger to protect himself. Be sure to equip it. Go outside. Some of your friends, Alfred and Miria, are waiting. Some travelling entertainers have set up camp outside, and they wanted to know if he'd come see it with them. Answer yes. Leave Farrell and go west to the bridge. Cross it and go west to the mountain. Go into the cabin and give the axe to the woodcutter. Go back east to the bridge. This time, there is someone there. There is a girl surrounded by animals. Reyard finds himself unable to look away. She introduces herself as Curana. Reyard introduces himself, too, and says that his friends call him Rey. She decides to call him Rey, and he doesn't argue. He's amazed at how she can have so many animals around her. She says that even though animals can't talk, they can understand emotions. The animals come sit net to Reyard, too. She says they can tell he likes animals, too. Curana says she has to go soon. Reyard offers to walk her home. It turns out she's going to Farrell. Go back to Farrell with Curana. Curana says she'd like to talk to him more, but there's something she has to do. Reyard asks if you can see her again. She says she'll be at the bridge again tomorrow. She leaves. Alfred and Miria arrive. Miria is curious to know who he was talking to, but Alfred is in a hurry to get to the show. Alfred and Miria join the party. Go to the tent and pay 10 Gimil to get in. Go up to the stage. The dance number ends and the announcer comes on stage. The next act is their star singer. It's none other than Curana! She sings her song and the audience applauds. Leave the tent. Miria was very impressed by Curana and hopes she can be like her. Alfred says it's impossible. Alfred runs away and Miria chases him. You go home and go to bed. The next morning, it's time to see Curana. Talk to your father and he'll give you 15 gimil for running the errand yesterday. Go to the bridge. Talk to the animals. Curana comes running. She says she was in a hurry to see you, so she run all the way here. You say you went to see here sing last night, and you and your friends were impressed. You say you envy her, because she's travelled all over the world with her troupe. Curana shows you her necklace. It has a red jewel in the center. She says she joined the troupe to travel in the hope of finding her parents. The necklace is her only clue. When she was a baby, she was found by a church in the town of Yous. The nuns in the church raised her. When she was 15, the troupe came to the town. She asked them to take her with them. The couple that ran the troupe were childless, and treated her like their own daughter. After hearing her sing, the troupe leaders let her perform with them. Curana is embarrassed that she told you all this, but she like talking to you. You don't mind, since you seem to like talking to her, too. It's getting late, and you offer to walk Curana home. She says she comes here whenever she has time, so you can always find her here. Alfred and Miria arrive. Miria nearly has a fit when she sees who you're talking to. She also seems a bit jealous, but denies it. Alfred and Miria get into another argument, but soon make up. Curana envies them because they seem to be such good friends. Since she's always travelling, she hasn't been able to make any. Miria says that since she's your friend, she's her friend, too. Go back to Farrell. Several days pass. You go see Curana every chance you get. Then one day you get out of bed, immediately wondering of Curana is there. Curana and Miria are at the bridge. Miria if she's told you yet. Curana says she hasn't. Once she sees you, Miria leaves. Curana says that it's time for the troupe to leave Farrell. They're leaving in four days. Curana wants you to say something, but you don't know what to say. You spend the next four days depressed. The night before Curana is to leave, you have a strange dream. A strange winged man, named Belial, accuses you of killing his servants and obstructing the plans of his master. He attacks you. You wake up. Miria is waiting for you downstairs. She tells you that if you don't stop her, Curana will leave and you might never see her again. You claim it's okay, but Miria knows the truth. She knows you've fallen in love with her, and she with you. You say you want her to stay, but she has a reason to travel, and you don't think it would be right to stop her. Miria won't accept that. Even though she had feelings for you, she still hoped you and Curana would be together. Miria goes outside and apologizes to Curana for not being able to get you to come. She says it's not Miria's fault. The troupe leaves. Alfred comes to see you and asks you the same thing Miria did. You still insist it's okay, but you spend the rest of the day shut up in your room. ---2. The Wedding That night, you have the strange dream again. Belial says the resurrection of his master is close, and he won't let you interfere. You still don't know what he's talking about. Go downstairs. MacLeod asks you to deliver another axe to the woodcutter and gives you 20 gimil. Go to the mountain and give the axe to the woodcutter. It seems the bridge is out again. He got it fixed before, but after the entertainers' troupe crossed, a heavy rain washed it out again. With the new axe, he and his apprentice should be able to cut enough trees to build a new bridge. Go back to Farrell. While crossing the bridge, you think you see Curana, but it's just your eyes playing tricks on you. Miria arrives and thinks you're looking depressed. She decides to go back to Farrell with you. Alfred is waiting by the entrance. He has terrible news. Curana is being forced to marry Rannell, the son of Beado, the duke of Bern! She initially refused, but the duke took the rest of the troupe hostage. Miria thinks you should go help her. After all, she's probably hoping you will. You hesitate, saying you're no match for a duke's army. Alfred insists that you're kind but not weak. They're not the same thing. You say you're just a blacksmith's son, and you don't think you can do it. Alfred slaps you. Before, you didn't want to stop Curana because you didn't want to keep her from finding her parents. Surely that hasn't changed. Alfred and Miria tell you to get them if you decide to go help Curana. Go to your house. You wish you had more courage. Then again, maybe you have more than you thought. You decide to stop being indecisive and see what you're capable of after all. Go to your father's workbench. There is a new Swordbreaker there. MacLeod comes down the stairs. He knows how you feel and doesn't intend to stop you. He gives you a Broadsword, Chainmail, Bronze Helmet, Oak Shield and 3 Raihi Herbs. Alfred and Miria are waiting outside. They're going to help you, since they're Curana's friends, too. Go north to the town of Madick. A man in the weapon shop is from Bern, so you ask him about Rannell. He says that he someone refuses to marry him, they're either thrown in prison or their taxes are raised. The other man there mentions a resistance movement there, led by a man named Grey. There is a man named Phaerel in the inn. You ask him about Curana's troupe, but he says he's only just arrived. A woman in a house to the north is also from Bern. She says her uncle, Mike, still lives there, tells you to go see him. She gives you a letter for him. Go northwest to Bern. The people there are afraid to talk to you. there are soldiers all over the town, and they'd be in trouble if they were heard. They're all on guard for the upcoming wedding parade. Supposedly, something big is going to happen then. Phaerel is in the inn. He says there weren't so many soldiers the last time he was here. Mike's house is in the north. Give him the letter and he agrees to help. He says he doesn't know much, but you should talk to a man named Tony. He gives you a Introduction Letter, and says that if you have that, Tony will talk to you. Tony's house is in the NE corner. Give him Mike's letter. He says he'll tell you what he knows. Pick what you want to ask about and press the A button. Bern used to be a merchant town. One of the merchants, Beld, was more successful than most. He arranged for his son, Beado to marry the former duke's daughter. Beado rebuilt the town into a fortress to protect his treasure, effectively ending the trade that kept it alive. Now it's almost a ghost town. Rannell, Beado's son, now runs the town, and he's worse than his father. He is spoiled, and prone to abuse his authority. He fell for Curana as soon as he saw her and proposed, but she refused. So, he captured the rest of the troupe to use as hostages. Because of Rannell's abuses, a resistance movement has been organized. Their leader, Grey, used to be a famous swordsman. Tony thinks he used to be in some army. After leaving Tony's house, Alfred suggests calling it a day and going to the inn. That night, you go over what you've learned. It seems the rumors about Curana were true, but how can you get into the castle to save her? Alfred suggests getting help from the resistance. The problem is how to find them. You suggest asking Tony tomorrow. The next day, go see Tony. The door to his house is locked! A soldier comes and tries to arrest you for being suspicious. You're not impressed, and Miria insults him. He threatens to have you thrown in jail, but will spare you if you show the proper "gratitude". In other words, he's trying to shake you down for money. He asks if you'll pay up. Answer no. He tries to drag you off to jail, but someone comes up behind him and knocks him out. Some of the man's friends come and suggest interrogating the soldier. They call him Leon. One of them is named Grey. They take the soldier away and the man who helped you starts to leave. You stop him and ask if they are the resistance. He's not going to admit to that to a complete stranger. Go back to the inn and spend the night. The next day is the day of the big parade. The only open space is near Tony's house. The parade comes through just as you arrive. The villagers make a show of congradulating them, unwilling to risk punishment. You decide to take the chance and grag Curana. Leon runs out of the house and stops you. This time, he admits to being in the resistance, and says that they have something planned for today. You beg him to let you help, but he refuses. One of the resistance members runs through the street, leaving a trail of smoke. Leon runs to fight of the guards. You run in and grab Curana. However, Rannell sees you and threatens to kill the troupe if she leaves. Leon says that the resistance has already freed the troupe, so there's no need to worry about them. Not wanting to admit defeat, Rannell send his guards after you. Defeat them and he attacks you himself. After you defeat him, the smoke starts to clear. You'd better run now while you can. Leon leads you to the entrance to the resistance's headquarters. Once they're safe, you admit you were shaking so much you could hardly hold your sword. Curana hugs you and you stop shaking. Leon gives Curana a letter written by the troupe leader. The resistance has already taken them to the nxt city. He says that Curana should follow whatever path she sees fit. Leon says it would be best if Curana fled somewhere where Rannell couldn't get her. He'll be bent on revenge and will do whatever he can to find her and the people who freed her. You decide to go with her, and tell Alfred and Miria to tell your father where you are. Alfred and Miria leave. You are impressed by Leon's skill and ask him to teach you swordsmanship so you can protect Curana. He agrees to take you along, but only until he reaches the town of Fean. You've reached the first checkpoint. ---3. Bandits of Meier Rannell sits in his castle in a rage. He won't rest until he's avenged himself. A man suddenly appears in the room. The man introduces himself as Lucase. He says he can grant Rannell's wish. He can give Rannell the power to get Curana back and punish those who took her. Rannell asks what he wants in return. Lucase says he wants nothing. If Rannell uses the power he's given, that alone is what he wants. He gives Rannell and book of magic and leaves. Rannell doesn't quite believe him, but he opens the book and tries a spell. The spell causes something inside him to change. Rannell fades away and is replaced by Belial. In your inn in the town of Wiftia, you make plans for your journey. Along the way, Leon will teach you how to fight, and you'll try to find information about Curana's parents. Leon gives you 100 G to buy equipment. He also gives you a Map. Now, the your position on it is shown whenever you walk on the world map. Phaerel is in the inn. Is this guy following you? There is a woman whose son has been missing for some months. She asks if you've seen him, but you haven't. Go NE to the town of Meier. Once again, Phaerel is in the inn. He says that the mayor is looking for someone to get rid of the bandits that have been attacking the town. There is another woman in the church whose son has gone missing. There have been other incidents, too. A man by the mayor's house thinks he knows where Curana's necklace was made. He says it looks like the work of craftsmen in Mian. Talk to the mayor in the house in the NE corner. The mayor asks you to get rid of the bandits in the cave to the north. Leon says that there are already several swordsmen gathered in the town. For some reason, the mayor was reluctant to ask them. Leon is suspicious. Go to the inn and spend the night. That night, you have something to ask Leon. You want to know why he was helping the resistance even though he wasn't a member. He says that Grey is an old friend of his. Besides, he had an objective in common with them. He wanted to free Curana. Surprised, you ask why he would want to do that. Leon says it was because she reminded him of his dead sister. She was killed 20 years ago, when demons invaded the town they lived in. He had wanted to fight to protect his sister, but he was only 6 years old. You're impressed anyway. You don't think you would have been able to fight, or even survive, at that age. Leon says he had help. A travelling swordsman adopted him and tought him how to fight. The swordsman died of an illness 6 years ago. Leon sees something of himself in you. You both wanted to become stronger than anyone in order to protect the ones you love. As you leave the inn, a boy bumps into you. Leon stops him. He's a pickpocket, and he's taken your wallet. Leon demands to know why he did that, and the boy starts crying. Leon think he has something to do with the bandits in the cave. The boy's reaction proves him right. He says his name is Tack and he's from the town of Tarse. He was kidnapped by the bandits and forced to be a pickpocket. There are many other children like him in the bandit headquarters. Some tried to escape, but they were caught and punished. Now everyone is too afraid to leave. It looks like you're going to have to get rid of the bandits after all. Leon tells Tack to wait in the inn. Go north to the cave. The guards at the entrance have been knocked unconscious. There is a hidden chest in a notch in the wall on the west side. The boss' room is on the lower floor. The guards there have been knocked out, too. As you enter, you hear someone pleading for their life. A man has cornered the bandit leader. Leon recognizes him as his friend, Levi. He asks what he's doing here, but Levi doesn't say. Levi tells the bandit leader to hand over the magic book or else. The bandit leader complies. Now that he has what he wanted, Levi leaves. Leon demands that the bandit leader disband his group and return all the things they stole. The bandit refuses, so Leon attacks him. The bandit immediately changes his tune and promises to go straight. Curana tells the children to leave and they run out. Items in the bandit lair: Fire Staff, Elf Holy Medicine, 50 G Go back to Meier and talk to Tack. Curana wants to take Tack back to Tarse. Talk to the mayor and he'll give you a reward of 100 G. If you go back to Wiftia and talk to the woman who was missing her son, she'll give you 50 G. ---4. Mian Tarse is south of Meier. When you arrive, Tack takes you to his house. As thanks, Tack's parents let you stay in their house. That night, Leon says there's something he has to take care of, and leaves. Curana comes to talk to you. Seeing Tack's parents and how happy they were to have him back made her wonder. Parents are supposed to love their children, but her parents abandoned her. You insist that there must have been some overriding reason, because no parent would leave their child without one. Besides, she has a family- the nun that raised here and her adopted father in the entertainer troupe. And she has you. So she's not as alone as she feels. Mian east of Tarse. As soon as you enter, you're attacked by monsters. After you defeat them, one of the townspeople comes to see you. He says that the monsters just attacked the town for no apparent reason. The man says his name is Gilga and invites you to stay at his house. At Gilga's house, he asks you if you've noticed anything unusual during your travels. You say that the monster attacks seem to have gotten more frequent in the past few days. Leon says that monster never used to attack towns before, so something must have happened to cause it. That night, you ask Leon about the man you saw in the bandit hideout. Leon's adopted father had a friend who was a magician. Levi is that magician's son. They've been friends since childhood, and later became rivals, even though they chose different paths. A little before Leon left, Levi's father was killed. He thinks Levi knows who the killer is. Since then, he's been obsessed with gaining power in order to avenge his father. Leon warns you not to only seek power, because too much power corrupts. The next day, Gilga stops you as you leave town. He has a favor to ask. Some men from the town followed the monsters back to their lair. Gilga had intended to destroy it, but none of the townspeople have any real combat experience. Since you do, he's wondering if you will help rid the town of monsters. Say yes. The lair is just north of Mian. On the first floor, there is a secret staircase on the west side (look for a notch in the wall). The boss monster is on the third floor. Fight off the guards, then fight the boss. You might win a Berserker Sword after the battle. After you beat it, the townspeople that followed the monsters come. When they find out you beat the boss, they run to tell the rest of the town. Items in the monster lair: Purity Staff, Healing Staff, 130 G Once you get back to town, Gilga thanks you and leaves. Go NE from Mian to a small building with stone arches around it. This leads to an underground passage leading to the next continent. Fean is on the other side. ---5. The Angel Statue Fean is a town of merchants. Many travellers gather here, and the city bustles day and night. Once again, you find Phaerel in the pub. He says that there are some monsters who can communicate with humans, and not all monsters are your enemies. It's said that the hero who saved the world in the war 20 years ago has several of these monsters as companions. Standing next to Phaerel is a woman. It is Leon's partner, Sophia. Leon introduces you and Curana and tells her what's happened. She says that several days ago, she sensed something evil in the west. It was similar to the energy her father described during the last demon war. Since Leon only promised to take you as far as Fean, it's time to part ways. He leaves the party and goes with Sophia. Leave the pub. Some soldiers come bursting into town and demand to know where Curana is. They must have been sent by Rannell. You'd better leave Fean before you're found. Go SE from Fean to the plains. As you cross the plains, the soldiers catch up to you. You have no choice but to fight. But suddenly, Levi appears, angry that the soldiers have disturbed his nap. He casts a spell that puts them to sleep, and tells you to get lost or you'll get the same. You start to leave, but he recognizes you as being with Leon. He asks where Leon is. You tell him he left with Sophia, and Levi seems disappointed. Leave the plains and go south to Rixa. Levi is in the inn. He says he saw a statue once that looked exactly like Curana. It was in the town of Leddia, to the east. The townspeople called it their guardian angel. He also warns you that Rannell is possessed by a demon. Leddia is NE of Rixa, surrounded by a lake. The angel statue is in the center of town. The townspeople seems to believe it protects them from monsters. A woman by the inn says that Curana's necklace looks like the one the statue wears. One of the townpeople mentions a legend that says God will send an angel to the surface world if the devils threatens to be resurrected. She wonders if there is an angel living somewhere in the world. Once again, Phaerel is in the inn. He tells you about a legend called the Ballad of Angels (a.k.a Tenshi no Uta). It tells of an angel named Curea and a human named Cale, who came to seal Lucifer back in the underworld. Something about the statue reminded him of it. Go see the mayor, in the NW corner. He is shocked to see Curana. He says that they've been waiting for a girl who looked like their statue to come. He tells you to go see Chris, the fortuneteller. Chris is the one who had the statue built, around 5 years ago. When it was built, she told the mayor that someday a girl who looked like it would come, and the mayor was to send that girl to her. Go east from Leddia to the forest. Go through the forest maze to Chris' house. A little girl, one of Chris' assistants, meets you at the door. She takes you to Chris. Curana asks about the statue. Chris says she saw the angel in a dream. She uses dreams to predict the future. One day, she dreamed about an angel who had been turned to stone. She doesn't know what it meant. She's been searching for the woman in her dream, hoping that if she meets her, she'll know the meaning of the dream. Curana asks if she can tell where her parents are. Chris goes into a trance. "Anger... Suffering... Darkness... White winged maiden... Tears... Stars glittering in the sky... Four stars to protect the heavens... Earth... Moon... Sun... Milky Way... Darkness surrounding the world... Light piercing the darkness" After coming out of her trance, Chris says that there is a great power protecting Curana. The four stars she saw were gathered around Curana, and together they have a great task to accomplish. About her parents, Chris says that she didn't see them anywhere in the world. It could mean they're already dead. Chris gives you a letter to take to Leddia's mayor. Items in Chris' manor: Rurimon Bell, Maiden Cape ---6. Herb mountain Go back to Leddia and give the letter to the mayor. Leave Leddia. As you do, you meet Gilga. He came to Leddia because his daughter Fal is sick from a wound recieved during the monster attack, and he's on his way to the nearby mountain to collect the herb he needs to make medicine that will work on monster wounds. Curana asks if you two can go help him. Say yes. The mountain is SE of Leddia, past Chris' manor. Climb the mountain until you get to a ledge with flowers on it. The flowers are what he was looking for. He picks some, saying that they remind of of the Eureka Flower. There used to be a custom where a couple about to get married would go pick some sacred Eureka flowers together just before their ceremony. It was supposed to symbolize their working together. The flower itself had three meanings: "Eternal love", "Loved ones" and "Hope". He wonders if you and Curana have gone to pick any and laughs when he you get embarassed. As you leave the mountain, Gilga thanks you for your help and leaves. He says there's a town called Kaydak to the south. Items in the mountain: Battle Ointment, Life Apple ---7. Curana's hometown Go SW across the river to Kaydak. The town is half destroyed due to monster attacks. The people there are all panicked. A man standing near the entrance seems to know Curana. Curana doesn't know him. He says she must have lost her memory. He says that the time to decide is coming, and he'll be waiting in the Tower of Babel. Neither you nor Curana know what he's talking about, or what the Tower of Babel is. Phaerel is in the inn. He remarks on how the people simply sit and wait for a miracle from God instead of trying to fix their town themselves. It's sad. As you leave, Curana asks if you can go to Yous, the town where she grew up. She hasn't seen the nuns there in years, and she wants to make sure they're all right. Yous is east of Kaydak. Several friends of Curana are there, and they all ask if you're her boyfriend. Phaerel is there (surprise!) and he tells you more of the Angel Ballad. The angel Curea was sent to seal the devils in the underworld once again. She was raised as a human girl, and fell in love with a human man named Cale. Cale fought to protect Curea and Curea fought to protect Cale's world. However, Curea gave her life to seal Lucifer in the underworld. Once Lucifer was sealed, Curea was taken back to heaven by other angels. Cale, on the other hand, had been cursed by Lucifer at the end of the battle, and could not follow Curea to heaven. The nun is in the church in the NW corner. She introduces you. The nun is happy to see her again and invites you to stay the night. That night, Curana apoligizes for taking up so much time, but you say you had fun, and everyone in the town seems to like her very much. Curana asks you to stay with her always. You say you will. The next morning, Curana wakes you up. The town has been attacked! Go outside and fight the monsters. At the last fight, Gilga runs and joins in. After the battle, Gilga tells you why he came. Soon after he returned to Mian, Beado's army came looking for Curana. As it happens, Gilga used to be in the Beado army. Since many of the soldiers knew him, he pumped them for information. Rannell has been possessed by a monster. Gilga thinks that Rannell might have something to do with the rash of monster attacks. He decides to go with you. You ask if he knows about the Tower of Babel. He doesn't, but he knows who might- a historian named Keith in the town of Rolf. ---8. Tower of Babel Rolf is south of Yous. Phaerel tells you the legend of the Tower of Babel. It was built soon after the three worlds were seperated. A king wanted to conquer Heaven, so he made his people build a tall tower. However, the king's desire made God angry and he punished him by sending a bolt of lightning to destroy the tower. Though it's said that the tower was high enough to reach Heaven, the tower standing today only has 7 floors. Keith's house is in the NE corner of town. Keith is in his library on the second floor. Gilga asks him about how to get to the Tower of Babel. Keith says he can get to it, but getting inside is another problem. The entrance is sealed. Keith notices Curana's necklace and seems to recognize it. He says you should definately go to the Tower of Babel. He takes a mirror out from a desk drawer. He says it's called the Mirror of Illusion, and is supposed to show the way through the forest maze leading to the tower. Keith joins the party. Items in Keith's house: Lumiena Mirror, Elven Bow Go west to the Lost Forest. At the end of the path, Keith uses the Illusion Mirror and the path opens. At the tower, Keith warns you to be careful because there's still a lot he doesn't know. Gilga thinks he knows more than he's saying. Keith says that the door was sealed by an angel. He tells Curana to try using her necklace. The red stone is called an "Angel's Tear", and it may be the key to opening the door. He saw one exactly like in a book. Curana's necklace may only be a replica, but it's worth a try. Curana takes out her necklace and walks to the door. It flashes and opens. It looks like the necklace is the real thing. Does this mean Curana is an angel? Go in the tower. There are angel carvings all over, and one looks somewhat like Curana. On the third floor, there is a woman who looks like a Journal vendor, but if you talk to her, she turns into a monster, the Earth Guardian, Glen Diamond. Fight him off. On the fifth floor is the Sea Guardian, Raima Saga. Fight him, too. On the seventh floor is the Sky Guardian, Gast Radom. Once you beat him, you can reach the top of the tower. The man you saw in Kaydak is there. Curana asks him why he had them come to the tower, since ordinary people wouldn't be able to climb it. The man says his name is Raphael. He is one of the four Archangels in charge of protecting Heaven. He says that Curana is actually an Archangel, too. Gilga doesn't quite believe him. Neither does Curana, who insists she's human. Raphael says she was reborn as a human 20 years ago, after Lucifer was defeated, so it's only natural that she doesn't remember. He has a question to ask her. Are the humans on the surface worthy of being saved from the devils? Many times, the devils have attacked the surface world, and every time, God sent angels to protect it. However, the people keep repeating the same mistakes, and have grown dependent on God, unwilling or unable to defend themselves. Not only that, but they fall victim to temptation and ambition, and try to resurrect Satan for their one purposes. Therefore, God decided to see if the surface-dwellers were all weak and corrupt, only capable of harming the world. If that were the case, he would use all the power in Heaven to destroy both the surface-dwellers and the devils in the Underworld at once. Needless to say, you're not too pleased to hear that. What right does God have to decide whether the entire human race lives or dies? What kind of God would destroy the very people he was supposed to help? The time for a decision has come. Curana's job was to see the world and decide if humanity truly deserved to survive. In a flash, Curana turns into her true form, a winged angel. Curana says she's found a great deal to love in the world. There are selfish and evil people, but there are also kind and loving people. Raphael says that he and the other angels on the surface have come to the same conclusion. Raphael says that he will return to Heaven and report his findings. Now that Curana's job is over, she must return, too. Curana and Raphael start to fly away. You yell for her to stop. You want her to stay with you. You need her! Curana says she's staying on the surface and comes back down. Raphael is surprised that she'd give up her wings to stay there. It's just like what his sister Liana did. Curana says she's not abandoning being an angel, but she belongs here. Raphael says that it won't be long until the surface world is overrun by monsters from the Underworld, and if she wants to protect it, she must stop the monsters. Curana says she will, and turns back into her human form. She is unsure whether you still want her with you now that you know what she is, but you say you do and always will. You suggest going back to Farrell for now. Items in the Tower of Babel: Wisdom Tiara, Wind Blade You have reached the second checkpoint. ---9. Belial Go back to Farrell. Alfred and Miria meet you at the entrance. You notice they're both armed. Alf says that there have been an increasing number of monster attacks recently, so the town forms a militia to defend itself. Alfred tells you to go see your father, but invites you to his house tomorrow, because there's something he wants to talk about. Phaerel is in the inn again. You ask him about the angrl named Liana that Raphael spoke of. He says she appears in a legend called "The Choice of the Fallen Angel". Liana was an angel sent to the surface from Heaven. After completing her task, she gave up her wings to stay on the surface with a human man she'd fallen in love with, named Feit. The little girl in standing in the west side of town has been practicing her singing so she can join an entertainer troupe like Curana. Unfortunately, it's still out of tune... Go see your father. You tell him everything that happened. Both Gilga and Keith have heard of MacLeod. Keith says that the sword used by the hero in the last war was made by MacLeod. Gilga says it's been a dream of his to weild an axe made by him. MacLeod says he'll make him one, and sends you to your room to rest. That night, you tell Curana you've decided to go to Bern. What Levi said about Rannell has been bugging you. Curana thanks you for stopping her from leaving. She was so happy to hear that you needed her. The next morning, get your friends and go to Alfred's house. You tell him what happened, and he tells you what's been going on since you left. Duke Beado died of a sudden illness and Ranell has become the next duke. the resistance has been trying to protect the people, but with the duke's army gaining strength, they've been largely unsuccessful. Monster attacks have also been on the rise. The town itself hasn't been attacked, yet, but that may not last. Leon came to the town once, and apparently went to your house, but Alfred doesn't know why. Go to your house and ask MacLeod about Leon. Your father says that Leon came wanting a sword, but he didn't have the materials to make the kind of sword he wanted. Leon said he'd return if he found the materials on his journey. MacLeod doesn't know where he went, but got the sense that there was someone he wanted to fight, and he'd wanted the sword to defeat that person. Leon reminded him of the hero 20 years ago. It turns out that the swordsman who raised him was that hero. This person he meant to fight might be Lucifer, just like his teacher. Curana thinks that Leon's friend Grey, the resistance leader, might know where he went. Go to Bern. The town was attacked by monsters soon after you left. The guards were only interested in protecting the castle and left the town unprotected. If the resistance hadn't driven the monsters off, everyone would have died. Rumor has it that the monsters were controlled by Rannell. One man says he managed to see under the mask of one of the soldiers, and it wasn't human. A woman tells you that Tony has been looking for you. Go to Tony's house. It's been destroyed, but Tony comes to meet you. He leads you to the resistance headquarters. Go talk to Grey. You asks if he knows where Leon is. He says that Leon was supposed to come to town tomorrow. They'd planned to fight Rannell then. Grey says that Rannell has sold his soul to a devil. Most of his soldiers aren't human- either humans turned into monsters, ot devils from the underworld. Grey asks you to help him fight. Say yes. That night, Curana comments on how many people are willing to fight to protect what they love. You want to say something, but you don't think it's the time. Curana asks you to say it anyway. After some hesitation, you ask if Curana would go to pick Eureka flowers with you after the fighting is over. Curana is delighted. The next morning, Tony wakes you up. The monsters have attacked, and the rest of the resistance has headed for the castle. Leon isn't here, yet, but he should be coming. Go out of the sewer and into the castle. Grey has gone to the top floor to take on Rannell. Go after him. On the top floor, there is a secret passage in the western room leading a hidden room. Check the south wall. There is also a secret passage at the east end of the corridor. When you get to the top floor, you're too late. Grey wasn't strong enough to defeat Rannell. He tells you to run. The only one who can defeat Rannell is Leon, and he's not here. You refuse to give up after coming so far and attack anyway. Rannell does the usual villain thing and offers to spare your lives if you pledge allegiance to him. You refuse, so he transforms into Belial and attacks. After you defeat him, he refuses to give up his power. Curana uses her power as an archangel to order him into the underworld. He disappears. Items in Bern Castle: Silver Breastplate, Dundale, Flame Sword, Elf Sacred Medicine, 320 G Now that Rannell and Belial are gone, the monster attacks should stop and the world should be peaceful again. Some resistance fighters come and get Grey. Leave the throne room. As you do, Lucase appears behind you. He says Belial was just a mid-level devil. Even so, by defeating him you've made his plans go awry. Curana commands him to show his real form. Lucase transforms into a devil, Salgatanas. He says he's one of Lucifer's servants. He attacks, wounding Gilga and Keith before you can fight him off. He's impressed by your strength, and says that killing you would be too easy. Salgatanas says he'll turn you into a stone statue so you can watch the devils be reborn without being able to stop them. He starts his curse, but Curana steps between you and him. The curse hits her, turning her to stone. Leon, Levi and Sophia run in before Salgatanas can cast another. Salganatas doesn't want to take you all on at once, so he runs away. Before he does, he says that if you want to lift the curse on Curana, you'll have to come to the underworld and kill him. ---10. The Earth Temple You wake up in the resistance headquarters. Gilga is still unconscious. Keith says he wants to stay until Gilga wakes up, so he can't go with you any more. Go talk to Leon. He says several magicians have tried to break the spell, but with no luck. The only thing left to do is kill Salgatanas himself. Leon, Levi and Sophia are planning to go to the underworld themselves. You insist on going, too. Since you were strong enough to defeat Belial, Leon decides to let you. Talk to Sophia and Levi and they'll join the party, too. Levi is going because Salgatanas is the one who killed his father, and he wants revenge. There is still the question of how to get to the underworld. Fortunately, Keith has been able to research it. With a little more time, he should have the answer. Levi asks about the statue and if it has anything to do with Curana. You tell him about Chris. Levi thinks it might be a good idea to have Chris try to find the waya to the underworld. It might be faster than waiting for Keith. Go to Chris' mansion. You tell her what's happened and ask for her help. She goes into a trance. "Light and darkness... An angel without her powers... Darkness surrounding the light... Four stars to protect the star of the heavens... Earth... Moon... Sun... Galaxy... Light protected by the sacred beast... Stars falling around the heavenly star that lost its light..." She says the "star of the heavens" represents you. Whether you can be heroic enoug to protect Curana yourself, or look for someone else with that courage is up to you. So you should look for a hero like the one from 20 years ago. Levi thinks its a preposterous suggestion. Chris says that Keith knows a lot about the underworld, and you should ask him how to get there. By now, Keith has returned to his house (and Gilga is back in Mian). He hasn't found anything about the underworld itself, but he may have a clue about how to get there. There is a cave leading to the underworld, but there are 5 seals blocking the way. Five stones are needed to get through: The Earth's Breath, the Moon Shard, the Sun Fragment, the Galaxy Drop, and the Angel's Tear. The names are similar to what Chris saw. Right now, Keith only knows where 1 is. The woodcutter in Farrell mentioned seeing a temple in the forest. You should ask him about exactly where he saw it. The woodcutter isn't on the mountain right now. Go to Farrell and talk to the man by the fountain. He wonders if the temple the woodcutter saw was real. He heard an old story about such a temple from his grandfather once. When asked about the woodcutter, he says that he must have already left for the mountain. He wanted to get home quickly because he was worried about being attacked by monsters. Go to the mountain and talk to the woodcutter. He says he found the temple while running away from monsters. He'd heard about it before, but that was his first time seeing it. It's called the Earth Temple. Unfortunately, he doesn't know where it is. He tried retracing his steps in the forest, but never found it again. The forest spirits must have led him to it to get away from the monsters. Without them leading him, he wasn't able to get there. The forest spirits would know where it is, but they rarely show themselves to humans. Supposedly, you can see them if you have an Illusion Mirror. Fortunately, you still have the one you got from Keith. The woodcutter says to use it in front of the trees. If there's a spirit living in the tree, it will come. You can get to the forest by going west from the cabin. Go west from the cabin to the forest. Go to one of the dead-ends in the NW corner. There's a forest spirit there. At first, it doesn't want to talk to you, but once you explain what happened, it changes its mind. Since you're protected by a archangel, it decides to trust you. It calls a fairy to guide you to the temple. The fairy is worried that doing so would anger their king, Le Phiel, but the forest spirit thinks it will be okay. Items in the forest: Tornado Armor, Ice Sword Follow the fairy. On the way there, you're attacked by a Cloud Giant. Fight it off. The fairy heals you, then opens the way to the temple. She says the temple is filled with monsters to test the strength of those who enter, but Le Phiel guard the Earth's Breath on the top floor. Go north to the temple. Le Phiel is on the top floor. Before he lets you have the Earth's Breath, he wants to make sure you're worthy of it. Fight him. Once you beat him, he'll let you through. However, only the one worthy of possessing the Earth's Breath will be able to remove it. Pick someone to try. Leon will be able to do it. Le Phiel gives him an Earth Ring. He also agree to join you. Leon can now use the "Tornado Sword" spell to summon Le Phiel in battle. Items in the Earth Temple: Holy Robe, Avatar Helmet, Ripper Wire, Speed Ring ---11. The Moon Shard Go back to Rolf and talk to Keith. He's found a manuscript that seems to be about he seals. According to it, the Moon Shard is in a tower on an uninhabited island, the Sun Fragment is in a place as hot as the sun, the Galaxy Drop is where the mountains reach the sky, and the Angel's Tear is in an angel's heart. Leon thinks that they can find a clue to the uninhabited island in the port town of Palman to the west. You might be able to borrow a boat from one of the fishermen. Go SW from Rolf, around the Tower of Babel. Palman is on the western edge of the continent. It's a toewn of fishermen, but lately the ocean has been too infested with monsters for them to fish. The best fisherman in the town is a man named Ben, and he might know something about the island you're looking for. Talk to everyone, then go talk to Ben in a house on the west side. You ask him to take you out in his boat. He says that the sea is too dangerous to sail now, but wants to know why you want to sail. He thinks you're not just ordinary travellers. You tell him about Curana and the seals. He thinks it sounds interesting, so he agrees to sail. Go outside and Ben will be waiting by the coast. Talk to him to set off. Soon after you set sail, a whirlpool appears in front of you. Ben says it's caused by the breath of the Sea God. You'll hve to get through it to reach the island. A dragon named Shalit appears from inside the whirlpool. It guards the Moon Tower and won't let you pass. No matter what you say, it won't budge. Finally, Sohpia convinces it to listen. After hearing your story, Shalit decides to give you a chance. It tells you to go to the tower and bring back the sea dragon scale on the top floor. Sophia asks if the Moon Shard is in the tower, but Shalit won't say until you've brought the dragon scale back. Levi calls him a cheapskate. Shalit leaves and you continue to the island. The tower is there. To get to the chest on the second floor, go through a secret passage just to the left of the stairs. On the thrid floor, Sophia senses the presence of something. Ghosts start pouring from the walls. The ghosts attack, but you defeat them and Sophia sends them away. They thank you for freeing them. Sophia says that something here must have lured the ghosts and kept them here. There is another secret passage on the east side of the fifth floor. On the fifth floor, there is a man who looks just like you. He asks what you're fighting for. Weapons and magic are merely tools for destruction. Power leads to discord and chaos. Why do humans want more power? The doppelganger attacks before you can answer. After you fight it off, you answer the question. You fight to protect the ones you love. The doppelganger seems satisfied with your answer, and gives you the Sea Dragon Scale. Items in the Moon Tower: Protection Ring, Emperor Helmet, Battle Ointment, Lumiena Mirror, Heavenly Shield Leave the tower. Shalit is waiting by the beach. You show him the Sea Dragon Scale. He says he has the Moon Shard, but you'll have to fight him before he'll give it to you. The Moon Shard, like the Earth's Breath, can only be taken by one worthy of it. Since Sophia was the one who Shalit listened to, have her try. She gets the Moon Shard, and Shalit gives her a spell to summon him. Talk to Ben. He says being around you makes things interesting, so he's decided to let you continue to use his boat. He asks where you want to go next. You ask if he knows of any place with a desert. He says there's a desert island called Sara to the east. Up until 20 years ago, it was lush and green, but the island is inhabited by a fire god, and the god scorched the land, leaving it a desert. Levi seems to know something about it. He heard about a fire god named Karuna from his teacher. From now on, you can navigate the boat wherever you want. You can only land where there is a beach, though. ---14. The Sun Fragment Sail east from Palman to the desert island. The town of Sarine is on the south end of the island. The town is situated by a river that runs from an oasis in the desert. There is a temple to the fire god Karuna, run by a priestess named Saki. Not surprisingly, Phaerel is in the inn. The boat he was on was attacked by monsters, and the survivors washed up near Sarine. If you stay at the inn, there will be a scene with you and Sophia. You sit by the river thinking about Curana. Sophia comes to check on you and you talk about when you first met in Fean and why you both decided to travel. Sophia says she started travelling with Leon simply because she wanted to be with him. She says that women can fight to protect the ones they love, too, and since she loves Leon, she does what she can to protect him. Apparently, she hasn't told Leon this, as she asks you not to tell him about it. Saki seems to be the person to ask about the location of the fire god. She's in the mansion in the center of town. It seems she's been waiting for you. She heard about you from Phaerel and figured you would be able to help her save Karuna. 20 years ago, Karuna fought the demon Asmodeus. During the battle, he was cursed, and driven insane. Since then, the island has wasted away. 15 years ago, her father, the previous priest, and a travelling magician named Soron sealed the Sun Temple, where Karuna lives. It can't be unsealed until the curse is lifted. Fortunately, she now knows how to cure him. Some people have seen Asmodeus' ghost in the place where they fought. Saki wants you to destroy Asmodeus' ghost. Levi appears temporarily distracted, but the pipes up that he thinks that she should give you the Sun Shard as a reward if you succeed. Sophia is shocked at his behavior. Saki says she doesn't have the authority to give it to you. Only Karuna can do that. But if Karuna accepts you, she will let you have it. Go NW from Sarine. There is an X mark on the ground in the desert. Sophia asks Levi why he seemed so distracted at the temple. He tries to say it was nothing, but finally relents. The travelling magician Saki mentioned was his teacher. He was with Soron when he came to Sarine 15 years ago, and met Saki then. He insists (too much?) that they're just friends and there's nothing more to talk about. The desert here is filled with quicksand. Ride the sand currents to get the treasures. Asmodeus, or what's left of him, is in the NW. Asmodeus' hatred was so strong it took on a life of its own, and the hate remained even after Asmodeus himself was gone. According the Sophia, it's basically a powerful ghost. Fight him off. Once its gone, the curse on Karuna should be lifted. items in the desert: Magic Crystal Staff, Strength Ring, Emperor Helmet, Elf Sacred Medicine, Rurimon Bell, Bath-Tis, Relait Wine, Eris Gown, Emperor Armor Go back to Sarine and talk to Saki. She calls Karuna. As expected, he's been freed from the curse. Saki has apparently told him everything, and he agrees to give you the Sun Fragment. Pick someone to try. In this case, it's Levi. Karuna gives Levi a Fire Ring and a spell to summon him during battle. Now all that's left is the Galaxy Drop. Levi asks if Karuna knows anything about it. He says that the king of the guardian monsters, the platinum dragon Caesar, has it. He is on an island called Sabeluxa to the far west. The door to Caesar's temple is sealed, and the other seal treasures you've found are the key. Saki asks you to stay the night. Later, Saki comes to see Levi. They talk about when they first met. Saki says she's been waiting for him to come back. When they were young, Levi promised to marry Saki when they grew up. Even though they were just children at the time, Saki still takes it seriously. Levi tries to blow it off, sayng that she must have found someone else by now. Saki says she hasn't. Now that she is a priestess, she can only marry someone chosen by Karuna. Luckily for her, Levi was the one Karuna chose. Lavi is happy that she feels that way, but he can't stay with her now. He still has to avenge his teacher. He's been obsessed with revenge, even to the point of forgetting about her. But now he has a reason to fight besides revenge. He wants to keep the world safe for Saki. But since there's no guarantee he'll make it back alive, he doesn't want to promise her anything just yet. Saki says she'll keep waiting as long as it takes. ---15. The Galaxy Drop Go to the large island south of Farrell. The entrance to the forest is on the east side of the island. Items in the forest: Rurimon Bell Once through the forest, go north into the mountain. Go through the mountain. On the other side is a castle. The door is sealed shut, but there are holes that look like they'd fit the other keys. Pick the order, from the top down, to fit the keys. After the door opens, you'll get the keys back. Caesar is on the top floor of the temple. Since you've already proven yourselves by getting the first three keys, Caesar doesn't need to fight you. However, he's not giving you the Galazy Drop for nothing. He wants you to bring some Eureka Flowers. You ask why, and he says you'll understand when you bring them. But where to find them? Since Gilga first told you about the Eureka flowers, perhaps he would know. Items in the Galaxy Temple: Lumiena Mirror, Rimon Bell, Fire of Hell, Cerberus Claw, Asura's Talon Go to Mian and talk to Gilga. He says the flowers grow in a mountain range far to the north. He invites you to stay the night sincce he wants to hear about your adventures. That night, Gilga's wife comes to talk to you. Ever since he returned to Mian, Gilga has been worried about you. Even though he's in no shape to go anywhere, he wants very badly to fight with you again, and would drop everything if you asked him to go with you. His wife wants him to stay home, at least until he's recovered. You say you regret letting him get injured and don't want him to push himself. The next morning, you get ready to go look for the flowers. Leon says there's somewhere he wants to go before that. He wants to go to the house where he was raised. He left something there and wants to retrieve it. His house is in the mountains NW of Palman. Talk to the knight behind the house. The knight is Erigor, a friend of Leon's adopted father, and one of the people who taught him to fight. He's come back to try to prove himself and see if the last 6 years of training have paid off. If he can beat Erigor, the sword his father left behind is rightfully his. After beating Erigor, Leon gets the sword, Excalibur. Erigor also gives Leon a spell to summon him and a Courage Medal. The Eureka flowers are in the mountains north of Mian, near the first Word Manor. The flowers are at the top of the mountain. Seeing the flowers makes you remember your promise to Curana, that you would go pick the flowers together once Rannell was gone. Items in Eureka Mountain: Priestess Comb, Healing Ring Pick the flowers and go back to the Galaxy Temple (Yes, you'll have to go back through the mountain). Show the flowers to Caesar. He says that the real reason for the custom of gathering Eureka flowers was that the flowers show the inner self of whoever touched them. If touched by an evil person, they wither. They flowers you brought, on the other hand, look as alive as when you first picked them. Your love for Curana is true and pure, and the flowers show it. Caesar gives you the Galaxy Drop and a spell to summon him. He also gives you a Dragon King Scale and a Orihalcon. The Orihalcon is a legendary metal ore. You should take it to MacLeod and have him forge a sword with it. In addition, the Galaxy Drop has another use. Whoever has it can use the Ark. When you go outside, it will be waiting. Use it to fly anywhere on the map (including the Black Coin Shop north of Fean). ---16. The Gates to the Underworld Go to Farrell and give the Orihalcon to MacLeod. He is impressed by how much you've grown, and agrees to do it. It will take some time, so he suggests you go see Curana while he's working on the sword. Go to the resistance base in Bern. Keith is there. He's found out some things about the Underworld. There are five gates to the Underworld: the cave entrance, the Wolves' Gate, the Serpent's gate, the Devil's Gate, and the Underworld Gate. Behind each gate is a statue that can transport you to other parts of the cave. Leon asks where the cave entrance is. Keith says it's on an island to the north, surrounded by mountains. Take the Angel's Tear from Curana. Now you have all the keys to the Underworld. Go back to Farrell and talk to MacLeod. The sword is finished. He's named it the Curau Soras. It means Sword of Light in the ancient language. This is the third checkpoint. Go to an island in the NW corner of the map. There is a cave surrounded by mountains. This is the entrance to the Underworld. As you enter, the keys and your sword glow, and the barrier to the cave is broken. There is a statue by the entrance. It must be one of the statues Keith spoke of. It doesn't appear to be working ow, but there is an indentation in its forehead. You try placing the Angel's Tear in it. Something happens, but you're not sure what. A few floors down, you come to the Wolf's Gate. It's guarded by the Fenrir Wolf. It's supposedly a creature that eats gods. Anyway, you'll have to beat it if you want to get through. After the battle, you find a Fenrir Armor. Use the Earth's Breath to open the gate. On the other side is a statue like the one by the entrance. Leon tries using the Earth's Breath on it. The statue flashes and you're transported to the entrance. Levi complains about having to go all the way back. You try activating the entrance statue, and it transports you to the Wolf's Gate. On the next two floors down, there is a secret passages in the west wall. Next, you come to the Serpent's Gate. Sophia hears voices coming from it, calling for help. The gate guardian, Midgard, appears. After you beat it, Sophia hears the voices thank you. They were souls trapped by the gate. Now that the guardian is gone, they can return to heaven. Levi finds a Dragon King Helmet on the ground and gives it to you. One of the voices returns, saying that there are more trapped souls, a powerful magician and a warrior. They beg you to save them. Use the Moon Shard to open the gate and activate the statue. Next is the Devil's Gate. The guardian here is none other than Salgatanas. Levi is anxious to fight him and avenge his teacher. But Salgatanas has a surprise for them. He has the soul of Solon, Levi's teacher, trapped in the gate. He was the magician the voices at the Serpent's Gate spoke of. Nonetheless, you're all determined to get through. Fight Salgatanas off. He's surprised to be beaten by mere humans, but says it doesn't matter. His job is done, and it's only a matter of time before Lucifer is resurrected. Curana appears in a ball of light. The curse has been lifted, and she can help you now. She can't use her angel powers very well in th Underworld, so she can't fight with you, but she gives you a summoning spell to use if you need her healing power. She says that Solon is held here by Soul Chains, chains made from metal forged in the fires of the underworld. But as an angel, she has the power to break them. Solon warns you that the time for Lucifer's resurrection is near, and you must hurry. His soul then disappears. Levi uses the Sun Fragment to open the gate and activate the statue. Look for secret passages in the walls of the floors below. The guardian of the final gate it... Phaerel! How did he get here without the keys? Levi thinks this is not the real Phaerel, but a devil made to look like him. Phaerel says he's the real thing. He could get here because the seals don't affect him. He was one of the ones who made the seals. His full name is Phaerel Van Uriel. He's an archangel like Curana. He came to watch the battle, and perhaps write a song about it. This angers Levi, because what you're doing isn't just some show. Leon asks why God hasn't done anything to stop Lucifer and Satan from returning. Phaerel turns the question around and asks why humans constantly depend on God and the angels instead of helping themselves. As weak as humans claim to be, you still managed to make it to the underworld. That's what Phaeral wants to sing about. Instead of waiting for someone else to save the world for you, you did it yourselves. This is what people need to hear about. Use the Galaxy Drop on the statue. The five keys merge into one, the Conqueror's Seal. Phaerel can save your game and heal you. Go through the door to get to the Underworld. Items in the underworld gate: Nuatha's Cape, Fallen Angel Wind, Eden Fruit, Iron Powder, Heracles Strength (2), Gei Borgue, Fairy Wing ---17. The Underworld Go NE from the exit to Lucifer's castle. One of Lucifer's underlings, Rukifuge, is at the entrance and says Lucifer himself is waiting on the top floor. Levi wants to fight the underling, but it disappears. Go up the eastern stairs to get to the top floor. Levi yells for Lucifer to come out, but the only one there is the underling you met by the door. Levi isn't amused, and calls him all kinds of names. First, he sends monsters after you, then attacks himself. After you beat him, the castle shakes and the floor collapses. You end up under the castle, surrounded by lava. Lucifer is there. Everyone gets ready to fight, but Curana stops you. She asks why Lucifer wants to conquer and destroy the world. Lucifer says there is no reason. It is the way of nature for the strong to dominate the weak. He simply likes to fight, and that's why he fought with Satan. Soon, Satan, too, will be revived, and together they will conquer the world. He heals you, saying that the fight will be no fun if you can't fight with everything you've got, then attacks. After you beat him, he insists he will not lose again. He heals himself and attacks again. Beat him again. Lucifer demands to know why mere humans can beat him, even though he is almost as powerful as Satan. Curana says it's because the source of his power isi anger and hatred. Negative emotions like those cannot win against love and friendship. Lucifer claims not to understand what love is, but Curana says he does. When he was human, he understood it. Those emotions should still be there, but forgotten. Somehow, Curana manages to get through to him and he understands. At first, he insists that things like love and kindness are completely lost to him, but eventually he realizes that he never lost them. He says that if he'd met you a long time ago, before he met Satan, he might not have become a devil. But now at least he can die as a human rather than an evil creature. Curana insists that he doesn't have to die. She asks him to help you. Levi think's she's lost her mind. After all, the whole purpose of this journey was to defeat Lucifer. Why would they wannt his help now? Everyone else trusts Curana's judgement. Lucifer agrees to help you. He gives you his sword and a spell to summon him. There's not a moment to lose, because Satan himself is about to awaken. This is the final checkpoint. Items in Lucifer's castle: Relait wine, Goddess Gown, Life Apple ---18. Satan Use the Conqueror's Seal to activate the statue. It works just like the ones in the underworld gate. Go back to the surface if you want to save or buy supplies. Once you go through the gate to the north, you won't be able to return. Once through the gate, you hear Satan's voice telling you to come fight him if you want to save the world. The magic circle your standing on can heal you. Curana can't do it this far into the underworld, but Lucifer can. Go NW. Belial is waiting there. You had defeated him and Bern castle, but Satan resurrected him. Fight him off. Keep going. Next, you meet Asmodeus. Fight him, too. Next is Salgatanas. Now that Lucifer's gone, he intends to take his place as Satan's right-hand man. He was promised the position if he defeats you. Lucifer isn't particularly impressed. Satan's castle is just ahead. There is a secret passage on the west side of the second floor, leading to the chest with the Goddess Gown The pots on the third floor will heal you. Just south of the pots are secret passages. To get to the chests on the north side, you have to go toward them in a diagonal direction. Going straight ahead will get you teleported back to the hall. Items in Satan's Castle: Gungnir, Paladin Helmet, Goddess Gown, Emperor Ring, Angel's Prayer, Paladin Ring Satan is on the fourth floor. Curana asks why he wants to conquer the world. Satan says that it exists only for him to rule. Like Lucifer, he says that those ith power must rule those without. His power comes from human ambition and greed, and those negative emotions are endless. With power like that, no one can stop him. Needless to say, your party isn't too pleased with the answer. He attacks. ---19. The end After you beat him, he is surprised to have been defeated by humans. Unlike Lucifer, he has completely lost any trace of his humanity. However, as long as human greed and hatred still exist, he can still return to the surface world and conquer it. Curana says she will stop him, even if it costs her her life. It is her duty as an archangel to seal Satan away. A tremendous amount of power is needed to do it. The life of an archangel should be enough. You try to stop her, but she runs away. After Curana disappears, the Conqueror's Seal that Phaerel gave you flies out of you hands and there is an explosion. When it clears, Curana is gone. You are devastated. You fought all this way in the hopes of being able to be with Curana forever, and now she's gone. A man and a woman appear next to the throne. The man tells you not to worry. He introduces himself as Cale, Curana's father. The woman is Curea, Curana's mother. They're the same people you heard about in the legend Phaerel told you. They say Curana is okay. The Conqueror's Seal sealed Satan away, and Curana got knocked out by the blast. The Conqueror's Seal and the five keys were originally made for this purpose. Curana must have lost her memory of it. Cale asks if you still love Curana. You say you do. Curana appears in front of you. Cale and Curea tell her that she can stay with you and live as a human from now on. Curana is overjoyed. They say goodbye and disappear. Everyone returns to the surface. Everyone gathers in Farrell. Leon says he's going to join Grey in Bern and help get rid of the monsters Rannell summoned. Sophia says she's going with him, at least for now. Levi is going back to Sarine to be with Saki. They all insist on being invited to the wedding. The wedding takes place a few months later. All the people you met on your journey are there, including Ben, Chris, Grey, Keith, Tony, Gilga and his wife, Curana's adopted mother and father, Leon, Sophia, Levi and Saki. Levi has proposed to Saki, and they're going to be married soon. Leon still hasn't done the same to Sophia, but hopefully will soon. Raphael and Phaerel are waiting by the town entrance. They wish you well, too. The credits roll as you and your new bride ride off into the sunset, and Phaerel sings his new song about your adventures. Congratulations, you have finished Tenshi no Uta!
