Style name Wentai. A great hero who is descended from the legendary Sun Tzu. He made a name for himself by defeating a band of pirates. After distinguishing himselft in battle against the Yellow Turbans, he became the governor of Chang Sha. He served as the vanguard for the Allied forces against Dong Zhuo, being the first to reach the city Luo Yang. Following the battle, he found the Imperial Seal hidden within a well and took it back home with him. __________________ 2) Why Should I Use Him? Sun Jian is a well balanced character with high stats, cool moves, and can be fun to use. __________________ 3) Moves and Weapons Regular Attack: Sun Jian's regular attacks are straightforward hack and slash manuevers. T : Broad sword slash ST : Jumping uppercut. SST : Swings his sword forward. Stuns a decent range. SSST : Turns around and does a reverse sword thrust. Strictly for cool points. SSSST(T) : Standard high juggler. Doesn't jump like in ST, press T for a follow-up attack. SSSSST : Fires a shockwave. A good long distance crowd clearer if you can connect with the narrow blast. Mounted Attack: Like every other mounted attack in the game(save for those few good ones). Standard right-to-left swinging. Dash Attack : Swings his sword, knocking down anyone that gets hit. A good dash attack. Jump Attack : Downward slash. Musou Attack : Swings his sword back and forth. Good damage, and when given a good Wind Scroll, pretty nice reach. Ends with a sliding slash. True Musou : Fire element added, this is the >only< True Musou you'll see in the game that keeps enemies standing up. Two juggling slashes are added at the end. Weapons: Broad Sword Attack +17 4 Hits (Varying Stats) Long Sword Attack +32 5 Hits (Varying Stats) Lone Wolf Attack +43 6 Hits (Varying Stats) Savage Wolf Attack +43 6 Hits + Fire Musou Max +76 HP Max +68 Attack +22 Defense +49 Weapons are obtained randomly in each stage. The later the stage, and harder the difficulty, the better the weapon you will receive. However, 4th weapons must be obtained in a precise manner. Stage: Surprise Attack on Liu Biao (Wu Side) Requirements: Defeat Lu Gong Since this is one of the early stages, it shouldn't be difficult to defeat. KIll Lu Gong, then the Precious Item should show up a bit west of the entrance to the path leading to Lu Gong. Finish the stage by clearing out the other generals. The only tricky part is dealing with the archers scattered through- out the stage. An easy way to complete 4th weapon quests is to have a fresh character(one who is not leveled up) be first player, and a stronger character be second player. It does not matter who the 4th weapon is for, or who kills the supply captain/gets the item. The objective is what's needed to be completed. __________________ 4) Overview Let's say one thing. Sun Jian is pretty bad at crowd control. What would usually be the best crowd clearing moves for anyone in the game, become merely cool yet useless moves for Sun Jian. T, who uses T very often? Well, if you're Lu Bu, I could understand... SSST is too linear, and leaves you open to attack from 270 degrees around you. SSSSST is a shockwave. No, not those wonderful shockwave attacks Liu Bei and Yuan Shao get. Yeah, you get the picture now. With that being said, Sun Jian can be a somewhat hard character to thoroughly kick butt with. However, he has some nice staple moves to use. Sun Jian's SST, with a nice Wind Scroll, can stun a nice amount of soldiers in front of him. His Musou is awesome. Good damage, and the final hit, unlike every other one of the cool moves in Sun Jian's arsenal, is useful. Sun Jian covers quite a distance as he slides forward, and does nice damage to boot. If you want, feel free to give him Way of the Musou. Unlike most other musou attacks similar to the nature of sun Jian's (may jeebus help you all), his True Musou, as previ- ously stated, keeps the enemy standing up. That means you can easily clear out crowds! Also, for all you fans of high stats, Sun Jian's 4th weapon makes him out to be a strong character. If there's one thing Sun Jian can do, it's dueling generals. The fire element in his SSSST makes him a deadly foe to contend with, so battles are over with quickly. SST also comes out fast for stun purposes . If you use his Musou/True Musou, do it in 4-6 hit bursts. Drag it out too long, and you always end up in deadlocks with the enemy general. Unless you're good at weapon deadlocks, stick to short Musou bursts (that is, tap O). Doesn't apply to no-name gene- rals though, so wail away on them. Recommended Equipment: Speed Scroll/Red Hare Saddle Peacock Urn Wind Scroll/Dragon Amulet/Way of Musou Elixir Tortoise Amulet __________________ 5) Stage Strategy 1. The Yellow Turban Rebellion Pretty simple. Take out all officers around your area first, then work counter clockwise to take out the rest. Take the opportunity to kill Zhang Jiao every chance you get before he teleports north, for some decent powerups. 2. The Battle at Hu Lao Gate Defeat the two sub officers outside Fan Shui Gate, then eliminate Hua Xiong, Niou Fu, and Xu Rong. With Liu Bei, Gongzun Zan, Cao Cao's, and your forces ready to go, advance southward. By now, Yuan Shu's dead. Either engage Lu Bu, or just avoid him. Take out Li Meng, run through the ambush, then protect the Assault Captain. Sometimes, the game is cheap, and a hor- rendous group of archers appear on the southern wall of Hu Lao Gate. Once the gate is down, standard buttkicking. If Li Jue and Guo Si's forces pop up, ignore them if Yuan Shao's morale is pretty high. 3. Surprise Attack on Liu Biao Kill the Gate Captain by your position, then kill Huang Zu. Kill the other Gate Captain at the southwest end if you want to, then advance northward towards Zhang Pu. Kill him off, take out the Gate Captain, and head North. Dodge the pack of archers at the entrance and take out Kuai Liang, Cai Mao, and Chen Sheng. If you want to, head east and kill Lu Gong, take out his two Gate Captains if you want to. Afterwards, dispose of the remain- ing Gate Captain and kill Liu Biao 4. Assault on Wu Territory Kill Zhang Ying and Chen Heng to open up the east gate. Head east and take out Yu Mi and the Gate Captain. Head Southwest, dodging Taishi Ci's forces, and kill Liu Yong. Taishi Ci should defeat, at which point he'll kill Yan Baihu's Gate Captain and whittle down his forces. Head North, take out Zhao Xin, then eliminate Wang Lang and his Gate Captain. Then proceed to mop up the rest of what's left of Yan Baihu. Exert unneccessary violence on Yan Yu if neccessary. 5. The Battle at Chi Bi Kill Xiahou Dun/Dian Wei first off, so you don't have to go through the boats again when Huang Gai's unit is getting in position. Then either work in a clockwise or counter-clockwise position to eliminate the officers. If Huang Gai's unit is in danger, don't worry about it. Just don't get lost on the boats. 6. The Battle at He Fei You should get a report of Zhang Liao's position in the beginning, so go and kill him off(unless you get off on Taishi Ci's death). Head Southwest to aid Lu Meng's forces by taking out Cao Ren and Xiahou Dun. Next, zoom Northeast to help Lu Xun and Cheng Pu mop up Cao Pi and Cao Hong's forces. Take out Cao Zhang and Xu Huang if Taishi Ci hasn't already done so. All that's left now is Cao Cao, Xu Zhu, two Gate Captains, and still more crossbowmen. Did I mention crossbowmen run rampant in this level? If you take too long, Yue Jin and Cheng Yu will show up. 7. The Battle at Yi Ling All you really have to do on this stage is kill Zhang Bao(valley east of Sun Shang Xiang) and Guan Xing(slightly north of the eastern end of the valley), then feel free to screw around on this stage. Kill Zhuge Liang if you feel like rushing in to kill Liu Bei without archer interference. Hard Mode will require more work, so keep that in mind. 8. The Nanman Campaign When the level starts, take out Meng Huo, then go aid Gan Ning by clearing out the West side. Meng Huo should pop up around there, so smack him a second time. Next head East to aid Lu Meng's forces. Eliminate any officers in the vicinity, and smack Meng Huo a third time when he shows up. Now head to the Western fort, and clear out all enemy forces there. When dealing with the elephant troops, you can let other soldiers knock the rider off, jump attack the rider, use Arrows, or if you got a nice amount of life, take a hit, tap L1 in the air, and you should be in position to attack the rider. Anyhow, Meng Huo should pop up near HQ, so smack him again when you've cleared out the area. Next on the list is the Eastern compound. If all's been going smoothly, whatever enemy force was there before should've been dwindled con- siderably. Clear out the troops there. At this point, Meng Huo will appear in the Western fort, accessible only through elephant, or a VERY long walk around the map. Now lead the offensive(or catch up) to the South and clear out whatever forces remain. Meng Huo should pop up one last time near HQ, so smack him once more. After breaking through Zhu Rong(and those goshdarn annoying crossbowmen, and those goshdarn hot Amazons), show Meng Jie some butt kick, then advance torwards Meng Huo. Knock him off his elephant, kill the Gate Captain, then exert any and all stress accumlated in this level onto Meng Huo. 9. The Battle at You Ting Head East and help out Da Qiao's forces by killing Hu Zhi, then taking out Zhang He. Zhen Ji should show up, so eliminate her. Run West past Zhou Fang and Cao Xiu's forces to kill Zhang Pu. With Cao Xiu surrounded, kill him off. If you kill Man Chong, Jia Xu should pop up. Take out Xu Zhu and Sima Yi's Gate Captains, then finish off Sima Yi. 10. The Siege of He Fei Castle Take out Xu Zhu on the east side first. Work your way around the east to the center and take out Xu Huang and Zhang He. Avoid the ponds unless you want a quick death. When Cao Xiu and Man Chong arrive, take out their forces. Once that's done, work on Zhang Liao and Zhen Ji, then finally, take out Sima Yi. __________________ 6) Questions and Answers Q: Sun Jian looks dumb. A: That's not a question. And that's mean. :( Q: I fufilled the requirements for Sun Jian's 4th weapon, but no Precious Item? A: You sure you're playing on Hard? Q: Are you asking me a question? You're supposed to answer. A: It's, uh, rhetorical. Q: I grabbed the Precious Item, but all I got was this cruddy 1st/2nd/3rd weapon. A: :PpP, you used Gameshark/Sharkport save that has basic 4th Weapons. Start a brand new game file, or use EvilR's Weapon Customizable FAQ on GameFAQ.com to fix the problem. Q: My Sun Jian does no damage! A: 3rd time you didn't ask a question. :p Refer to above and get yourself a +20 Tiger Amulet somehow. Q: Where do I get 2nd/3rd weapons and good items? A: I shop at You Ting Wei side for weapons, Wu side for items. Hard mode for best results. Q: This FAQ is horrible. A: Make a better one then. Q: I just did. A: >_< __________________ 7) Super Duper Secret Stuff There's a reason this wasn't on the contents. It's because it's really cruddy information I got through gossip and stuff, so it really isn't reliable.
