Guan Yu cleared five gates by killing five officers of Cao Cao and finally met with Liu Bei. Guan Yu would go on, along with his brothers, to participate in many battles. However, it would all come to an end for him at Fan Castle, where Lu Meng attacked and became victorious over Guan Yu and his adopted son Guan Ping. Both were executed, thus ending Guan Yu’s powerful reign. Notable officers that Guan Yu defeated are Hua Xiong (novel), Wen Chou, Yan Liang, Pang De, among others. Guan Yu was also honored by being named the head of the Five Tigers of Shu. Guan Yu was 57 years old when he died. Zhang Fei http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y77/TogeraTwo/Shu/ZhangFei.jpg Attack: 5/5 Musou: 3/5 Speed: 1/5 Name Pronunciation: "Jhang-Fay" Biography: Zhang Fei of Yan was a powerful and destructive force, but all too often a foolish and unconscious thinker. Along with his oath brothers, Liu Bei and Guan Yu, he helped construct the existence of Shu. An impressive performance by Zhang Fei came at Chang Ban Bridge where he would hold off hundreds of Cao Cao’s soldiers and officers as well. Cao Cao had remembered what Guan Yu had said about Zhang Fei’s ferocity and immediately had his soldiers retreat and go around. Zhang Fei would go on to join his brothers in many battles, with numerous victories and would later be named one of Shu’s Five Tigers. Zhang Fei was finally killed by one of his own men at the age of 54. Zhuge Liang http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y77/TogeraTwo/Shu/ZhugeLiang.bmp Attack: 1/5 Musou: 5/5 Speed: 4/5 Name Pronunciation: "Zhoo-Gay-Leeawng" Biography: Zhuge Liang is considered by most to be, arguably, the smartest mind of the Three Kingdoms era. Although much of what is described in the novel is historical fiction, he was an incredibly intelligent individual. Referred to as “Sleeping Dragon,” Liu Bei sought to gain his service one day. Liu Bei attempted two times to meet with Kongming (Zhuge Liang), but failed. On the third visit, however, Liu Bei came to meet “Sleeping Dragon.” Kongming gladly accepted to join Liu Bei and become the mind behind Shu. Later, Kongming would meet a worthy rival in Wei’s Sima Yi and engage in many battles that consisted of the two intellects counter each others’ strategies and traps. When the two forces were to clash at Wu Zhang, Kongming was grieving about his health, his adversary, among other things, which led him to his death. He was 53 at the time of his death. Zhao Yun http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y77/TogeraTwo/Shu/ZhaoYun.jpg Attack: 3/5 Musou: 3/5 Speed: 4/5 Name Pronunciation: "Zhao-Yoon" Biography: Liu Bei trusted Zhao Yun more than he trusted his own oath brother, Zhang Fei. However, it was Gongsun Zan who Zhao Yun originally served before joining Liu Bei. He joined Gongsun on the battlefield against Yuan Shao, and it was there where Liu Bei would eventually meet Zhao Yun. They became close friends and even wept when they departed from each other. Later, when Yuan Shao would kill Gongsun Zan; Zhao Yun sought out Liu Bei to serve. He eventually caught up with him and they both embraced each other happily with tears. Later on at Chang Ban when Cao Cao was out to eliminate Liu Bei on the run, Zhao Yun alone went out through Cao Cao’s army to rescue Liu Shan, Liu Bei’s son. When he returned safely with Liu Shan, Liu Bei threw the baby to the ground because of the risk he caused Zhao Yun of dying. Zhao Yun would continue to be a main officer of Shu and is considered one of Shu’s Five Tigers. His death would meet him at the age of 61. Ma Chao http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y77/TogeraTwo/Shu/MaChao.jpg Attack: 4/5 Musou: 3/5 Speed: 3/5 Name Pronunciation: "Ma-Chaow" Biography: Ma Chao, meaning "Superior Horse," was feared by many because of his fiery passion for justice and incredible skills, on foot and mounted. His father, Ma Teng, was eliminated by Cao Cao when Ma Chao was still fairly young, so Ma Chao sought to get revenge and eventually led a campaign against Cao Cao near Tong Gate. Ma Chao succeeded in victory over Cao Cao’s forces, but on his way to track down and slay Cao Cao, Xu Zhu appeared in his path. The massive Xu Zhu startled Ma Chao immensely, so he was forced to retreat quickly. Ma Chao would be a main force for Shu in later battles, but would die at a fairly young age of 47. However, he was still honored by being named one of Shu’s Five Tigers. Jiang Wei http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y77/TogeraTwo/Shu/JiangWei.jpg Attack: 3/5 Musou: 3/5 Speed: 4/5 Name Pronunciation: "Jeeawng-Way" Biography: Jiang Wei was formerly known as a general of Wei, but due to an unfortunate decision by Wei generals, Jiang Wei was locked out of his city, so he was forced to submit to Zhuge Liang’s pursuing forces. They brought the prisoner back to Zhuge Liang, who immediately saw talent in him, was willing to accept him into his forces. Zhuge Liang from then on would become Jiang Wei’s personal mentor. Jiang Wei learned much useful information on warfare from Kongming (Zhuge Liang) and thus became one of Shu’s leader officers when Kongming died. However, due to Liu Shan’s lack of knowledge in being a leader, he submitted to Wei, who tracked down Jiang Wei in his home with his family and had them all executed. That would be the end of the Kingdom of Shu. Jiang Wei was 59 years of age at the time of his execution. Huang Zhong http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y77/TogeraTwo/Shu/HuangZhong.jpg Attack: 4/5 Musou: 3/5 Speed: 2/5 Name Pronunciation: "Huawng-Jhong" Biography: Huang Zhong was a highly respected officer wherever he battled because of his experience in battle and he was also considered an elder and was looked up to by many. He originally served Han Xuan before defecting with Wei Yan to Shu. Huang Zhong graced the battlefield with his excellent skills in archery and intelligence of the field. He was the main man at Mt. Ding Jun where he assassinated the respected Wei general Xiahou Yuan. Huang Zhong continued fighting until the late age of 72 where he still participated in the Battle of Yi Ling. Although he would be killed in that battle, the respect from his comrades earned him the title of one of Shu’s Five Tigers. Wei Yan http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y77/TogeraTwo/Shu/WeiYan.jpg Attack: 4/5 Musou: 2/5 Speed: 3/5 Name Pronunciation: "Way-Yawn" Biography: Wei Yan was always a demoralized human and never followed anyone's orders. Later, while defending Changsha with comrade Huang Zhong, they were surprised by an attack from Liu Bei. Huang Zhong in this battle did not wish to fight against Guan Yu and let him pass. The commander Han Xuan was enraged by this and was to have Huang Zhong executed, but Wei Yan killed Han Xuan and Huang Zhong and Wei Yan then defected to Shu. Wei Yan, due to his stubbornness, died at the hand of Ma Dai because of him disrespecting Zhuge Liang’s plan to retreat from battle at Wu Zhang. He was 59 years old at his death. Yue Ying http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y77/TogeraTwo/Shu/YueYing.jpg Attack: 3/5 Musou: 3/5 Speed: 3/5 Name Pronunciation: "Yuay-Ying" Biography: Yue Ying was the wife of the infamous Zhuge Liang. She is said to not have been attractive but chosen by Zhuge Liang for her intelligence and grace. She bore one child for Zhuge Liang whose name was Zhuge Zhan. Her full name is actually Huang Yue Ying and her official death is not known nor her age of death. Pang Tong http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y77/TogeraTwo/Shu/PangTong.jpg Attack: 1/5 Musou: 5/5 Speed: 4/5 Name Pronunciation: "Pang-Tong" Biography: Pang Tong was considered by many to be Zhuge Liang’s equal. However, since he would only live to see 35 years, he had no time to prove his worth. Pang Tong did, however, accomplish a successful ploy during the Battle of Chi Bi where he would act a defection to Wei and advise to tie the ships together for stability. In actuality, Pang Tong advised this so the fire attack would allow the fire to spread to all of Cao Cao’s ships. He was honored for his ability to persuade Cao Cao’s officers, but would later earn a bad name for disrespecting the deceased Zhou Yu. Sun Quan grew to hate Pang Tong, so he was forced to leave Wu and join Liu Bei. On a campaign with his new lord Liu Bei, he found himself trapped in a pass at Luo Feng Po (Luo Cheng) and was shot down with arrows and killed at the ripe age of 35. -------------------- IV. Other -------------------- Lu Bu http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y77/TogeraTwo/Other/LuBu.jpg Attack: 5/5 Musou: 3/5 Speed: 5/5 Name Pronunciation: "Loo-Boo" Biography: Lu Bu is introduced in the Three Kingdoms novel when he is asked by Dong Zhuo to join him. Lu Bu was given many gifts, including the prized steed Red Hare. Lu Bu would then kill his former lord and join Dong Zhuo, as a warrior and a son. Lu Bu can be considered the most dominant single force during the Han Dynasty/Three Kingdoms era. Although it is considered a myth by many, it is said that he warded off the Three Brothers (Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei) at Hu Lao, single-handedly. While the Dong Zhuo force continued battling the Alliance led by Yuan Shao, Lu Bu came to meet Wang Yun who presented Lu Bu one night with a hand maiden named Diao Chan. Lu Bu immediately fell in love with her and asked Wang Yun if he could have her in marriage. This was Wang Yun’s intention all along, so he agreed and began making preparations for the wedding ceremonies within the next few months. Later on, Wang Yun devised for Dong Zhuo to visit him and he too would be taken over by Diao Chan’s beauty. Wang Yun, unable to decline giving Diao Chan to Dong Zhuo, sent her to his kingdom’s lair to live with him among the other maidens. When Lu Bu found out about Dong Zhuo taking his fiancée, he was outraged and went to Wang Yun’s house for an explaination. Wang Yun told him how he could not have declined Dong Zhuo’s wishes, so in turn gave up Diao Chan as Dong Zhuo had wanted. Lu Bu and Diao Chan would see each other around the castle and Diao Chan cunningly looked unhappy and sad that Dong Zhuo had taken her. Lu Bu was constantly moved to rage by this and finally, one day, he took Wang Yun’s plan into action and murdered the obese tyrant among a crowd of people at a convention. Lu Bu, having no allies among the Dong Zhuo household (except Zhang Liao), was forced to leave the region. He retreated northward along side Diao Chan and his other wife where he would engage with Cao Cao in numerous battles. He would eventually grow weary of constant battles where he would be outnumbered, so one night he fell asleep atop a tower. There, a few of his own soldiers tied his arms and legs and took his weapon. Lu Bu was then brought down to Cao Cao for his sentence. Lu Bu, with his last breaths, tried to encourage Cao Cao or Liu Bei (who was also there, following Cao Cao) to allow him to live and serve them, but he was ignored and taken away to be strangled to death, by Cao Cao’s order. He was 44 at the time of his execution. Dong Zhuo http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y77/TogeraTwo/Other/DongZhuo.jpg Attack: 4/5 Musou: 2/5 Speed: 1/5 Name Pronunciation: "Dong-Jhuo" Biography: Dong Zhuo will forever be known as the vanquisher of the Han. Having overthrown the Han Emperor with an Emperor of his choice, Emperor Xian, he began a rule of tyranny. He had all the women he desired and men to serve him at any hour of the day. His selfishness and ungratefulness caused leaders all over China to grow to despise him, thus forming the Alliance (which Cao Cao, in fact, got started) against Dong Zhuo. Dong Zhuo had excellent defenses against the Alliance and would hold them off for months. However, it was his adopted son, Lu Bu, who ended up murdering him. Dong Zhuo’s lifespan is unlisted. Diao Chan http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y77/TogeraTwo/Other/DiaoChan.jpg Attack: 2/5 Musou: 2/5 Speed: 5/5 Name Pronunciation: "Deeow-Chawn" Biography: It is said that Diao Chan never actually existed and was only added to the Three Kingdoms novel to add a dramatic and romantic affair. Regardless, in the novel, Diao Chan was a lovely but sorrowful handmaiden that was discovered one night by Wang Yun, who had came to the garden to seek peace and quiet, and find time to think. When we discovered a weeping Diao Chan within the flowers, he immediately became saddened. He then talked to her to attempt to calm her. Later, Wang Yun would adopt her as his own daughter and she was pleased and extremely grateful. She would agree with Wang Yun to perform a plan that would turn Lu Bu against Dong Zhuo. When Lu Bu had finally killed Dong Zhuo, it was too late for Diao Chan to be able to join with her step father and was willing to leave the region with Lu Bu and serve as his wife. It’s hard to understand if Diao Chan was ever actually happy during the time she spent with him when he was his own lord, but it’s also hard to tell if she was ever happy in the novel. When Lu Bu was executed, Diao Chan slips into the shadows as an unrecognizable character. Yuan Shao http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y77/TogeraTwo/Other/YuanShao.jpg Attack: 3/5 Musou: 3/5 Speed: 3/5 Name Pronunciation: "Yooawn-Shaow" Biography: Yuan Shao was a proud man of his name’s heritage and this would grow to be the downfall of his kingdom’s growth. His generals were assigned according to their relationship with the Yuan family name. However, Yuan Shao would lead the Alliance against Dong Zhuo and become known all over China as a successful warlord because of the victory he attained in that war, thanks to Lu Bu. He would continue building his forces until he became the largest threat of the northern region. There, Yuan Shao would lead a campaign against Gongsun Zan and become victorious. He also wished to take Cao Cao who had been stationed at Xu Chang with Emperor Xian. The two forces, Yuan Shao’s vastly larger, met in battle at Guan Du and around that region many times. Yuan Shao disregarded his advisors advise far too many times, which would eventually become a strong reason for Yuan Shao’s defeat. When Yuan Shao’s supply depot, Wu Chao, was burned to the ground by Cao Cao’s forces, he retreated north, cursing the name of Cao Cao along the way. Yuan Shao was severely sick at the time and was throwing up blood for weeks until the illness finally killed him. He was 48 years old at the time of his death. Meng Huo http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y77/TogeraTwo/Other/MengHuo.jpg Attack: 5/5 Musou: 4/5 Speed: 1/5 Name Pronunciation: "Mehng-Huoh" Biography: Meng Huo became the King of the Nanman tribe when Zhou Tai killed King Shamoke in the Battle of Yi Ling. When Meng Huo requested that Zhuge Liang pay the Nanman tribe back for sending troops to aid Shu against Wu at Yi Ling. When Zhuge Liang only sent gold and silk as payback, Meng Huo was angry and began thinking of a way to eliminate Shu. Meng Huo, later, would receive a letter from Wei ruler Cao Pi, petitioning him to move in to attack Shu from the south while Wei attacks from the north. Meng Huo was excited to hear the multiple attack plan and moved right away. With his wife, Zhu Rong, at his side he moved with great momentum into Shu territory. He would encounter Zhuge Liang’s forces seven (7) times and would lose all seven. He would humble himself to the wit of Zhuge Liang by surrendering his forces to him, but Zhuge Liang only wished for him to not interrupt with Shu, Wei and Wu affairs again and sent Meng Huo back to the south where he would live peacefully until death. Zhu Rong http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y77/TogeraTwo/Other/ZhuRong.jpg Attack: 4/5 Musou: 4/5 Speed: 3/5 Name Pronunciation: "Zhoo-Rawng" Biography: Zhu Rong was the wife of the Nanman King, Meng Huo. She was also believed to be a descendant of the God of Fire, therefore earning the title “Goddess of Fire.” Zhu Rong accompanied her husband on the campaign against Shu and become known as one of the few women warriors during that era. Her lifespan is unrecorded. Zhang Jiao http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y77/TogeraTwo/Other/ZhangJiao.jpg Attack: 1/5 Musou: 4/5 Speed: 4/5 Name Pronunciation: "Jhang-Zheeow" Biography: Zhang Jiao, known as Zhang Jue in the Three Kingdoms novel, was the almighty leader of the Yellow Scarves (Turban) rebellion, a religious sect that believed in the fall of the Han and the rise of the new Way of Peace. Zhang Jiao had many, many followers that were willing to throw themselves in battle like sacrificial lambs. However, before the rebellion could get a chance to succeed, Zhang Jiao died of a fatal illness. He was still a young man at the age of 48. His two brothers, Zhang Liang and Zhang Bao, attempted to continue on to overthrow the Han, but Liang was murdered in a battle against Cao Cao and Bao was assassinated by one of his own followers, Yan Zheng, and brought before He Jin to offer the end of the Yellow Scarves. Still, Yellow Scarves followers still roamed the land years after the Zhang brothers’ deaths and would cause an uproar wherever they traveled. ITEMS -------------------------------------------------------------------------- All the information on the regular level up items to the requirements on getting all the Special Items and Harnesses. -------------------- I. Orbs -------------------- Orbs are elemental attacks added to all your charge attacks. Your Musou gauge must be full in order to perform the elemental attack or if you have your level 10 weapon you may perform elemental attacks anytime. All Orbs' max level is 4 and here are the description of the different Orbs. Fire Orb - Adds a Fire element that burns the enemy slowly taking damage from your enemy. Level effect - The Higher the level the more damage the Fire will do to the enemy. Lightning Orb - Adds a Lightning Bolt in the middle of the attack, the closer the enemy is to the middle bolt, the more damage done. Level effect - The higher the level the more damage the middle bolt will do. Vorpal Orb - Adds a Death attack that can instantly kill an enemy soldier in one single blow, adds powerful damage to enemy officers. Level effect - The higher the level the more chance the death attack will take place on an enemy, more damage to officers too. Ice Orb - Adds an Ice attack that will freeze an enemy if hit by a charge attack, opponent stays frozen for a certain amount of time no matter the level. Level effect - The higher level the more chance of freezing an enemy goes up, now it will freeze an enemy about 75% of the time. Blast Orb - Adds a Blast attack to your charged attacks that will break through blocks. Level effect - The higher the level the more chance of breaking through a block, a hint using this Orb is while using Cao Cao, Sima Yi, Zhou Yu, Lu Xun, Lu Meng, Da Qiao, Zhuge Liang, Jiang Wei, or Pang Tong playing at Hu Lao Gate, you can easily defeat Lu Bu if you use your T attack over and over and over, but make sure your musou gauge is full. Thanks to Joe The Gamer for that tip. Poison Orb - Adds a Poison Attack to your charged attacks that while the enemy is Poisoned the damage the enemy is doubled, not very useful, but works perfect for Lu Bu's SSSSSTTT. EASY ITEMS TRICKS --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's some tips on getting higher level items and orbs faster. I got all LVL. 20 items and LVL. 4 orbs in two days using these tricks (mostly Wu Zhang Plains), here are the tips and good fortune. It is highly recommended that you equip Hex Mark saddle (Luck up) and a high level Seven Star Sash to increase your chances on achieving a higher leveled item/orb. Wu Zhang Plains (Shu Forces) Ok, there are five item boxes in this level and they are: #1. Southeast corner, top right corner of that circled area. #2. Outside Zhuge Liang’s fort, along the left wall. #3. By Zhang He's initial position, going up the path to get to the top castle. #4. Along the center path. South of Xiahou Yuan's initial position. #5. Right beside Cao Cao after he arrives as reinforcements. Ok, the main trick is to collect them in order, #1 and #2 doesn't matter which one you do first. Then go to #3. and after the Sima Yi enraged cut-scene, Zhuge Liang will fake his death that will cause Sima Yi to charge and all the gates will open, get #4. Then wait at the very top of the map, and when Sima Yi returns after he sees Zhuge Liang is still alive, Cao Cao will arrive as reinforcements. Defeat all the soldiers as necessary, then deplete Cao Cao's life as low as you can and save it BEFORE you get #5. Load it up again and get the item and finish off Cao Cao. If nothing that you receive pleases you then soft-reset (Select + Start) and load it up again. Repeat until you receive an item that you need or want. Note: If you deplete his life low enough then after you load it up again just knocking him off his horse will kill him. Yi Ling (Wu Forces) There are 5 items from five different generals or sub-generals, but to finish this fast just do the requirements. I actually don't find this trick as useful as Wu Zhang Plains, but that's just me. Ok, Ride your horse or run to Ma Liang, kill Ma Liang, and clear out all Liu Bei's guards or anyone else in that area. Deplete Liu Bei's life as low as possible. Go to Wang Ping and kill all his guards, lure him as close to Liu Bei as possible, then defeat Wang Ping, save BEFORE getting the item, load the game up and get the item, finish of Liu Bei, if what you get doesn't please you, just soft reset(Select + Start) and load it up again and so forth. Jie Ting (Shu Forces) This seems to be the level that gives the most Orbs, now that's just a random thought so don't take it seriously. Ok, Go to Sima Yi and kill all his guards and any troops that may be in the way, then deplete his life as low as possible. Go back and lure Xu Huang down to where Jia Kui is. Defeat Jia Kui but don't get his item box he dropped yet! Then quickly defeat Xu Huang, save the game, continue it and pick up both items, proceed to Sima Yi and defeat Sima Yi. Note: This may be a good choice as it provides two different items each time you re-load it. Also try to get Xu Huang and Jia Kui as close as possible so it makes it quicker. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10.) WALKTHROUGH -------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a new added section that I got the incentive to do while reading some feedback from readers of my FAQ. I hope this information or help will aid you in anyway needed. Also, this is all my own written info and not from any other FAQ, Guide, Walkthrough, Website or any other source. All difficulties are set one Normal. For Hard Difficulty, add one *, for easy Difficulty subtract one *. Any list of items, saddles, or level 10 weapons in any levels of that Musou Mode will be listed inside of these: { } In case of any requirements to change a level that you did not know of, I will list them as a category. I have also added the total amount from all generals and sub-generals of Attack and Defense pickups, as well as Items. Sorry I could only finish Wei Musou Mode. -------------------- I. Wei Musou Mode -------------------- ---------- -Act I- A Hero of Chaos ---------- The Yellow Turban Menace (Han Forces) Difficulty: ** Level Changes: None Attack/Defense/Item pickups total: Attack +4, Defense +4, Items x1 My Method: At the start you will start at the left side of the map. Your commander is Huangfu Song inside the middle castle and the enemy commander is Zhang Liang. There are many ways to completed this level in many different methods. It will take a lot of speed to both defeat all enemy generals and to get to your commander and protect him, here's what I recommend you do for this battle when playing on Cao Cao's East side of the map. Ok, go South and defeat Gao Sheng guarding the South Gate to the castle. Now the South gate is cleared of enemies, now go and defeat Guan Hai at the East side of the castle, and move north to defeat Liu Pi afterward. Now, travel back to the West of the map and defeat Deng Mao and Huang Shao, now during this, a rainstorm will be summoned by Zhang Liang(enemy commander) inside the castle. Huangfu Song will announce he will join the battle and the first minute will get ambushed by He Yi inside the castle. You must assist Huangfu Song right away by locating him on the map and traveling to him. Defeat He Yi once there and accompany him outside the Northeast entrance to the castle. Once Huangfu Song exits the castle another ambush led by Yan Zheng will be afoot. Defeat Yan Zheng and now Huangfu Song will be safe without your presence. You may now make your way up towards Zhang Liang, once in the top area, you might as well get the Life up and Musou up. Each one is at the bottom left squared area and bottom right squared area. Now, if you wish to have Zhang Liang present at The Yellow Turban Rebellion not not defeat him and defeat his sub-general, Han Xian. If you wish to defeat Zhang Liang now, he will not appear at The Yellow Turban Rebellion. The Yellow Turban Fortress (Han Forces) Difficulty: ** Level Changes: None Attack/Defense/Item pickups total: Attack +3, Defense +3, Items x1 My Method: You will begin this stage inside the Northeastern castle when playing as a Wei character. In this level your commander is Zhu Jun and enemy commander is Zhang Bao. In this level there aren't many generals, but this level does provide lots of KOs. Again, there are lots of different ways to completed this level, but I find the way I am about to describe the most helpful. First, defeat as many soldiers as you please before defeating He Yi(your decision to defeat the soldiers). Once you've defeated He Yi, there is a Musou up right beside the Gate Captain beside him, so you might as well get that. Now that you've finished that area near He Yi, don't advance down that path, instead make your way to the West part of the map. There will be a cut-scene showing Pei Yuan Shao starting powerful winds with windmills and your allies(Cao Cao's troops and Liu Bei's troops) will hold there position until you've destroyed all three windmills. So go to the West side of the map, when there defeat Bo Zhang and the West forts North entrance will open. When any allied troops reach the middle of the fort a cut-scene showing a Phantom soldier. Now there will be Phantom troops that cannot be attacked, nor your allies be able to attack them. To stop these Phantom troops, just destroy the giant pots in front of Zhou Cang and the other at the Southeast corner of that fort. You must destroy both pots and defeat Zhou Cang in order to open the South gates. After you've defeated the giant pots and Zhou Cang the gates will open, proceed down the path and defeat any soldiers you please. This is a good place to build up KOs cause loads come from the bottom left entry point. After you're done getting enough KOs(or not) just defeat Cheng Yuanzhi, run over to Pei Yuan Shao at the Eastern side of the lower part of the map and defeat him. You can go north and destroy the windmills and free your Allies or you can leave them there. Once all that is done you have the choice to defeat Zhang Bao and he won't appear at The Yellow Turban Rebellion or you can defeat the Gate Captain inside the bottom castle after you've defeated all generals and Zhang Bao will retreat and he will appear at Yellow Turban Rebellion. The Yellow Turban Rebellion (Han Forces) Difficulty: ** Level Changes: If you defeated Zhang Liang or Zhang Bao in the previous stages then they will not appear in this battle. Attack/Defense/Item pickups total: Attack +6, Defense +6, Items x5 My Method: There are numerous ways to complete this level, but I can only mention one, otherwise I'd probably be able to make an entire FAQ on this level. Anyway, you're starting to the Southeast of the map if you're playing as a Wei character. Ok, first ride(you'll need a horse) over to the middle, where Liu Bei's Forces will be and defeat He Yi and Yan Zheng, Pei Yuan Shao's sub-generals. Now Gao Sheng, Chang Yuanzhi's sub-general, will be coming along the right wall of the area where you defeated He Yi and Yan Zheng. Defeat Gao Sheng and then go North and defeat Cheng Yuanzhi. Move left and defeat Pei Yuan Shao. Now that you're at the West side of the map quickly defeat sub-general of Zhang Man Cheng, Guan Hai. Then when you enter the Northwestern area, if you did not defeat Zhang Bao at Yellow Turban Fortress, a cut-scene where Zhang Bao is given power and summons winds and ground explosions. This will hold off your Allies moving in that area, Zhang Bao will most likely not be defeated. Anyway get back on track and defeat Zhang Man Cheng and go all the way back to the East side of the map. Defeat sub-general Deng Mao and then move into the Northeastern area. If you did not defeat Zhang Liang at the Yellow Turban Menace, Zhang Liang will summon rockslides. Boulders will come from all angles and this may be a problem. Get the Musou up at the very right of that area and defeat Zhang Liang "as quick as possible". Then when the summon stops, defeat Bo Zhang and move up toward the path to Zhang Jiao. Defeat his sub-generals Han Xian and Zhou Cang. You can run over to Zhang Bao, if he's still alive, and run back to the main path towards Zhang Jiao. Defeat Huang Shao and Liu Pi then to get Zhang Jiao to retreat defeat the Gate Captain beside him. If you don't want him to retreat just quickly defeat him and the level ends. ----------- -Act II- The Alliance against Dong Zhuo ----------- Battle of Si Shui Gate (Allied Forces) Difficulty: *** Level Changes: None Attack/Defense/Item pickups total: Attack +4, Defense +6, Items x3 My Method: This is a rather easy level to complete, your Commander is Yuan Shao and the enemy Commander is Li Jue. As a Wei character you will start at the very right of the map. You can use any method you choose, but I recommend using this method. Ok, first defeat Li Su, after that Gao Shun will take off up towards Sun Jian. You can chase after him and defeat him or just leave him. Then defeat Niou Fu and right near his initial position there is a wooden wall that you can jump over, jump over the wall and right there, there'll be a Musou up, get that if desired. Move up that path, do not jump back over the wall, instead continue up towards the area Li Jue is at. Sun Jian will announce that he needs supplies and his Morale will decrease. Now defeat in that area the following sub-generals: Yang Feng, Li Meng, Hu Zhen, and Zhao Cen. Now after Sun Jian announces without supplies his force must retreat, he will begin to retreat and Yuan Shao will ask if there is anyone who can defeat Hua Xiong, now defeat Hua Xiong in a duel or not. After you defeat him there will be a cut-scene that has Yuan Shao asking you has slain Hua Xiong. Your character will announce that he/she has defeated Hua Xiong in there own way. Now enemy reinforcements will arrive, the general is Dong Min. Defeat him and if Gao Shun is still alive, you might as well defeat him. Now move up to the Northwest area where enemies Guo Si and Li Ru are. When there defeat Guo Si and leave Li Ru alive for now. Hope of the wooden wall beside Li Ru's position and you have discovered a back road to the supply depot. There is a Life up to the bottom left of the depot. Now defeat Wang Fang and then Fan Chou. Your character will say a phrase and the supply depot will be taken. Now run back to Li Ru and defeat him. You will probably not have enough time to defeat Li Jue, besides it's said that if you defeat him, he will not appear at Hu Lao Gate. Li Jue will retreat about a minute after you defeat Li Ru. Note: To trigger Li Jue to retreat you must defeat Hua Xiong, Dong Min, and Li Ru. Once all have been defeated Li Jue will retreat. Battle of Hu Lao Gate (Allied Forces) Difficulty: *** Level Changes: If you skipped Si Shui Gate then Hua Xiong will appear with 2 sub-generals. Attack/Defense/Item pickups total: Attack +7, Defense +6, Items x0 My Method: This can either be a difficult level or an easy level to complete and here is my method of completing it. Yuan Shao is your Commander and Dong Zhuo is the enemy Commander for this battle. Wei characters will start at the Eastern part of the map, to the South. The first few minute or so there will be an archer ambush that is not a difficult thing to control, so break through the ambush and defeat Li Ru's sub-general, Xu Rong. Now defeat Li Ru, the gates will open and about 5 seconds after the gates open the allied Ramming vehicle will appear. Do not protect it 'cause it will break the gates down regardless, but not yet so go to the Northern part of the East side of the map where Liu Bei is. Defeat Gao Shun in there and Dong Min afterwards. Now, Hu Lao Gates gates will most likely be broken down by now. Just ignore Lu Bu's appearance beyond Hu Lao Gate for now and move East and where Sun Jian is and defeat Li Meng and then Guo Si. Now move towards Hu Lao Gate(West) and there will be a Gate Captain, this Gate Captain will appear constantly until Lu Bu is defeated. When you've arrived at Hu Lao Gate, decline Lu Bu's duel unless you want to die. At the North and South top parts of Hu Lao Gate(the actual Gate) there is a Musou up and a Life up. Get those if desired and ignore Lu Bu for now. Move and defeat the two Gate Captains at the North and South beyond Hu Lao Gate if you feel the need and after that move to defeat Diao Chan. After she's been defeated, if you did not play Si Shui Gate, Hua Xiong will appear near Yuan Shao with two sub-generals, Li Meng and Hu Zhen. Yuan Shao will die very quickly, so get back there and assist him. If you did Si Shui Gate, Hua Xiong will not appear. Now, continue from where you were, you were at the entrance of Luo Yang. Once you enter Dong Zhuo will burn the city and retreat if you defeated Lu Bu, so do not defeat Lu Bu yet. Now continue downward from your current position and you'll reach Wang Fang, defeat him move North again and defeat Jia Xu, who should be at the very North of that area. Now defeat Li Jue and continue to the next area where Dong Zhuo will be. Defeat Fan Chou there and ignore Dong Zhuo. Instead move West into the next area and defeat Niou Fu who is at the far West of that area. Now all sub-generals and generals are defeated except Lu Bu and Dong Zhuo. You can choose to ignore Lu Bu and defeat Dong Zhuo or you can defeat Lu Bu and Dong Zhuo will begin to retreat. I suggest to defeat Lu Bu, use any strategy you desire and defeat Lu Bu, once you've defeated him Dong Zhuo will begin to retreat, he retreats all the way to where you defeated Niou Fu so it's a fair distance there. You can try to catch up to him and defeat him or you can allow him to retreat. Note: If the clock reaches 72'00 before you've(or an ally) defeated Diao Chan then Dong Zhuo will say "I'll teach you not to defy me!" and his forces will charge, wiping out my entire strategy. Don't worry though as everyone will charge for Yuan Shao, so you can just defeat them before the reach Hu Lao Gate. ---------------- -Wei Tales- Eliminate Zhang Jiao! ---------------- Eliminate Zhang Jiao! (Cao Cao's Forces) Difficulty: *** Level Changes: None Attack/Defense/Item pickups total: Attack +3(+5), Defense +1(+3), Items x1(x2) My Method: Your allied generals will be Xu Huang and Xiahou Dun. Your Commander is Cao Cao. The enemy Commanders are Zhang Jiao and Zhang Lu. At first your allies will attack the Southwest corner. Xu Huang will attack from the South of the fort and Xiahou Dun will attack the North. Go over with Xu Huang and Xiahou Dun and defeat He Yi and Bo Zhang at that fort. Zhang Lu's unit will appear and there are a lot of Zhang Lu troops. If you defeat Zhang Lu he will appear over and over and over until you defeat all of his troops. If you have defeated all of his troops then the real Zhang Lu will appear at the path that goes from the left all the way to the right side of the map. He will appear in the middle part a bit more to the right. If you defeat the real Zhang Lu then Zhang Jiao will do a ritual and all your soldiers except Xu Huang and Xiahou Dun will betray Cao Cao. Back to the Southwest fort, if you do not defeat all of Zhang Lu's troops and he makes it to Zhang Jiao then they will both complete a ritual causing all your troops, including Xu Huang and Xiahou Dun, to betray Cao Cao. Just defeat Xu Huang and Xiahou Dun, then when at the top of the rockslide area, defeat Pei Yuan Shao and Zhang Bao. Then move toward Zhang Jiao and you should meet with Zhang Lu, defeat Zhang Lu and in that area there is a Musou up South of the Northeast entry point. Now move up the stairs and defeat Zhang Liang and move into the area where Zhang Jiao is. At the top area of the center area, at the bottom right corner there is a Life up. Now only Zhang Jiao is left so finish him off and the level is complete. ---------- -Act III- The Rise of Cao Cao ---------- Battle of Xia Pi (Cao Cao's Forces) {Level 10 Weapon - Xiahou Dun} Difficulty: **** Level Changes: None Attack/Defense/Item pickups total: Attack +8, Defense +6, Items x0 My Method: This battle can end up in so many different ways and here is my method of going about this level. Your Commander is Cao Cao and the enemy Commander is Lu Bu. In this level any Gate Captains you defeat, they will appear again with no end. Your character starts at the Northeast corner. Either West or South of Cao Cao. Either way start by going West and defeating Zang Ba. Now Gao Shun's unit will have appeared by now South of Xiahou Dun's position. Move down to defeat him and continue South. If Xiahou Dun is still alive and he makes it to the Southeast river, there will be a cut-scene showing Xiahou Dun getting shot in the eye with an arrow and continuing the battle. After this cut-scene continue down past the river, Hou Cheng is the enemy general there and within 10 seconds of meeting with him he will abandon Lu Bu's Forces and begin to retreat. You can try to defeat him and he will still surrender to Cao Cao, so I recommend trying to defeat him. Now, move West and you'll meet with Song Xian. Again, he will begin to retreat unless you defeat him. Now, moving North(West of the castle) you will encounter Wei Xu and he will also retreat unless you defeat him. After you defeat him and few seconds later, Lu Bu will realize that he is outnumbered and will exit the Northwest entrance of the castle. After he's out a Carriage will appear. If you do not defeat it before it reaches the Northwestern entry point, then Yuan Shu's unit will appear later in the battle. If you do defeat it, Lu Bu's entire armies' morale will decrease twice. I recommend to allow the Carriage to clear the battlefield and let Yuan Shu to appear because he supplies 3 sub-generals. Now a cut-scene should appear any minute showing the river that goes down and shows Red Hare on a small island. After this go to the Northern area a bit more West and a boulder should be there. Encounter it and another cut-scene will appear showing your character jumping on a bunch of boulders and announce victory is near. After this the stream in the castle will be easier to walk in and you can now move North against the tide. So move into the entrance where Lu Bu exited. Ignore Lu Bu. Now at the very North end of the stream there is a Life up, get that if desired and continue to Chen Gong, defeat him and move down to Diao Chan, defeat her. After you defeat Diao Chan, Lu Bu will go ballistic and starts yelling and ranting. His morale rises. Around this time or maybe a bit before Red Hare will be discovered on the little island Southeast of the map. Before you weren't able to get there due to the heavy water coming down the stream, but now you blocked off the water making Red Hare accessible. By this time Yuan Shu would have appeared but ignore him for now and move to the little island. Once there get the Musou up on the island and mount Red Hare. Lu Bu's morale decreases and move all the way Southwest where Yuan Shu's sub-general, Lei Bo will be. Defeat him and move North from there. Ji Ling, another Yuan Shu sub-general will be there, defeat him. Now move North and another sub-general, Chen Lan will be lurking around that area with Yuan Shu. Defeat them both and find Lu Bu and defeat him to end the stage. Battle of Wan Castle (Cao Cao's Forces) {Level 10 Weapon - Dian Wei} Difficulty: **** Level Changes: If you selected Xia Pi first in this Act and Lu Bu retreated successfully, than in this level Lu Bu will come as reinforcements. Attack/Defense/Item pickups total: Attack +6, Defense +4, Items x2 My Method: This stage is rather small and can be confusing sometimes if you don't know what's going on, here's my description of completing this level with ease. First off, Cao Cao is your Commander and Zhang Xiu is the enemy Commander which does not appear until later. If you are Dian Wei it will be more complicated to follow these directions so you'll have to come up with another way of completing the level. When you're a Wei character besides Dian Wei you'll start at the Southeast hall. Cao Cao is at the very bottom right shrine where there is a Life up. Backtrack and get that if you please or if you're Cao Cao it'll be much easier to get. Now move up the hallway and you'll see most of the paths are cut off from fire and trashed doors. Most of the level will be like this making only one path available unless you are Dian Wei. Once you reach the very North of the East hallway there is a Gate Captain and sub-general Zhao Cen. Defeat him and once Cao Cao exits that hallway the door to Dian Wei will be blocked off from fire. A Dian Wei cut-scene appears showing him fighting off troops and telling Cao Cao to escape. Stay with Cao Cao all the time and follow him to his destinations. He will now move South of this hallway, Hu Zhen will be there who is sub-general under Jia Xu. Defeat him and continue South. You'll come to a path leading left(map). Jia Xu will be there, defeat him, and beyond him will be sub-general Fan Chou. Defeat him and clear out all the troops for Cao Cao. Once he reaches Zhang Xiu's current position be there with him, and either defeat him or let him retreat, either way he'll arrive again at Cao Cao's escape point. Cao Cao will walk into two rooms and both the exits in those rooms will be blocked off. A few minutes later cut-scene showing Dian Wei(Xu Zhu) breaking through the door where Cao Cao and Dian Wei cut-scene appeared. Now Cao Cao will backtrack all the way back, but Zhang Xiu's army will appear in different areas of the level. Lu Bu will appear if he retreated successfully at Xia Pi. Moving back now check where Cao Ang is. In that room where he is there will be a Musou up, get that and guide Cao Cao back to where Dian Wei is. Once back there defeat Hu Che Er in that main area and Lu Bu in the next room if he appeared. Finish off Zhang Xiu and Cao Cao will announce to retreat. Note: Both defeating Zhang Xiu and Cao Cao reaching his Escape Point are required for victory. Battle of Guan Du (Cao Cao's Forces) {Level 10 Weapon - Xu Huang} Difficulty: **** Level Changes: If you skipped Xia Pi earlier in this Act, than Lu Bu will appear as reinforcements. Attack/Defense/Item pickups total: Attack +12, Defense +7, Items x3 My Method: This battle can end up in so many different ways, I will write two ways it can end up. Your Commander is, again, Cao Cao and the enemy has Yuan Shao as their Commander. First off, you will most likely start above the Bai Ma fort(Left fort). If you desire to have Wu Chao(supply depot at the very left of the map, in which contains a Musou up) to be discovered than wait for both forts to fall and the ramming vehicles appear(happens when enemy troops get close to Cao Cao's bottom castle. After this the supply depot will be discovered and Cao Cao will attack the depot. Follow him there and defeat Chunyu Qiong and Lu Wei Kuang who comes as reinforcements, Wu Chao taken causing Zhang He, if this is your first time playing as a Wei character in Musou Mode, to defect to Wei. If you do not desire to uncover Wu Chao than follow these directions to victory; First move to the East part of the map, defeat Yan Liang, Guan Yu will charge the enemy. Now move into the East castle and defeat Han Meng and Guo Tu, who are sub-generals of Yuan Xi. Then defeat Yuan Xi. Yuan Shao's main force will arrive and his army will charge. Guan Yu will have attacked Wen Chou by now, so go to where Wen Chou is and defeat him before Guan Yu does. Move North to defeat Yuan Shang, Xu Chen, Yuan Shao's sub-general, will be there and defeat him as well. Guan Yu will meet with Liu Bei and they will both retreat from battle. If you desired to defeat Liu Bei and Zhang Fei than do it after you defeat Yuan Xi in the East castle. Now if you did not play Xia Pi, Lu Bu will appear North of the East castle as reinforcements for Yuan Shao. Get over there and defeat him. Now move North again and clear out Yuan Shao's troops if desired. Now Yuan Tan is at the East side of Yuan Shao's main army, defeat him and Yuan Shao will retreat from battle. ---------- -Wei Tales- Guan Yu's Escape ---------- Guan Yu's Escape (Cao Cao's Forces) {Valuable Item - Way of Musou} Difficulty: **** Level Changes: None Attack/Defense/Item pickups total: Attack +6, Defense +6, Items x0 My Method: This level will take at most 12'00 minutes to complete, at least it should. Now, your Commander is Xiahou Dun and the enemy Commander is Guan Yu. In this level Guan Yu is trying to escape through 5 Gates and at the end(Yellow River) he will meet with Liu Bei and they will retreat causing you to loose the battle. Guan Yu is also escorting a Carriage that must make it to the Yellow River as well with Guan Yu there. Your objective is to defeat Guan Yu before he reaches the Yellow River with the Carriage. At the beginning, you'll start at the very top of the Northwestern castle. Guan Yu will start at the entrance of the castle. Now, once you enter the next room, Sun Qian's unit appear will appear at the 1st Gate. Defeat Sun Qian and his troops will flee. Now move out of the castle and if desired pick up the Musou up to the left of the castle entrance, at the end of a dead-end. Continue along the path towards the Carriage and Guan Yu. Oh ya, once you exit the castle, Zhou Cang's unit will appear at the 2nd Gate. Defeat Zhou Cang and his troops will flee. Now, move past the 2nd Gate and Liao Hua's unit appears at the 3rd Gate. If you've moved fast, this is where you'll catch up to the Carriage. If you defeat the Carriage, Guan Yu still will not stop. Once you reach Liao Hua, he will challenge you to a duel, I recommend accepting because it saves time on the clock. Once you've defeated him, clear the 3rd Gate, and once you do Guan Ping will appear in front of the 4th Gate. Move to defeat him. Now Liu Bei and Zhang Fei's unit appear at Yellow River once Guan Yu passes the 5th Gate. beyond the 4th Gate, in that area there is a Life up at the bottom right of that area. Now, Liu Bei and Zhang Fei will charge after you. Defeat them both and another Carriage will appear beyond the 4th Gate. Defeat it if desired and move to defeat Guan Yu. Note: There is an easier way to complete this level and that is to catch up to Guan Yu as soon as possible and Fight him, but do not defeat him, until Xiahou Dun appears and they will fight non-stop. This is a chance to continue the level, defeat all generals and get the Valuable item, Way of Musou. When done all this get back to Guan Yu and defeat him. Stage complete. ---------- -Wei Tales- The Yuan Family's Pride ---------- Battle of Ji Province (Cao Cao's Forces) Difficulty: **** Level Changes: None Attack/Defense/Item pickups total: Attack +6, Defense +6, Items x3 My Method: There are a few ways of going about this level and here is an advised one that I'd like to share that works fine for me, by doing this method I usually get around 300-400 KOs and all Worthy Opponents in less than 15'00 if you're fast, so I think it's helpful. Your Commander in this battle is Cao Cao and enemy Commander is Yuan Shao. First no matter where you start (Center, Left, or Right) go to the center of the map and move up near Yuan Xi. Defeat Lu Xiang, sub-general of Yuan Shang, then defeat Yuan Xi who will be in that same area, maybe a bit more Northeast. Yuan Tan and Yuan Shang will be given words from their own sub-generals telling them that they do not need each other and Yuan Tan and Yuan Shang will begin to betray each other. Now move to the West side of the map and at the bottom left area, just North of the Wall there is a Life up, get that and defeat the general in that area, Lu Kuang. Move North into the Northwest fort where Yuan Shang is. Do not encounter Yuan Shang yet if you do then he'll betray to your side, so defeat both sub-generals, Feng Ji and Shen Pei. Now encounter Yuan Shang and he'll have some words for his brother and betray to your side. Now move along the North pass way. Once in the Northeast area where Yuan Tan is, defeat his sub-generals Xin Ping and Guo Tu in that area. Now exit that area from the South and Xin Pi will be there, defeat him and continue South. You'll encounter Gao Gan. Defeat Gao Gan and get back to Yuan Tan, defeat Yuan Tan once there and Yuan Shao's main forces will arrive, he will be ashamed of Yuan Shang and Yuan Shang will defect back to Yuan Shao's Forces. Defeat Yuan Shang and move to Yuan Shao. Defeat Yuan Shao to end the stage. ---------- -Act IV- The War against Liu Bei ---------- Battle of Bo Wan Po (Cao Cao's Forces) Difficulty: **** Level Changes: None Attack/Defense/Item pickups total: Attack +6, Defense +2, Items x3 My Method: There are a lot of traps and ambushes early in the level so you must choose to Attack right away or to hold back and Defend. Your Commander is Cao Cao and the enemy Commander is Liu Bei. The first way of going about this level is to attack the enemy right away, defeating Zhao Yun will stop all the traps and ambushes, there is one trap and two ambushes that he leads your allies to. Follow my steps and you should be fine. First charge the Southwest side of the map, so this is the area where Jian Yong is. Go there and defeat Jian Yong. By this time the Fire Attack will have happened and Xiahou Dun will be isolated and his troops will all be wiped out by the fire. Once Zhao Yun reaches the very Left side of the map, Liu Bei and Zhuge Liang will vanish from the frontlines. If you're fast enough you can defeat Liu Feng(General at the fire attack location) and hurry over to Zhao Yun before Guan Yu appears and defeat Zhao Yun. Now defeat the ambush general Guan Xing and Guan Yu if he appears, not sure if he does after you've defeated Zhao Yun before he triggered Guan Yu's ambush. Anyway, continue into the castle that contains Wei's main forces. In the top left corner of the castle there is a small room. In it there is a Musou and Life up in the top right and bottom left corners. Zhang Fei will have attacked the supply depot by now and Zhuge Liang with Liu Bei will appear. Go to Zhang Fei, beware he is strong, and defeat him. Find Zhuge Liang and defeat him as well. Now just get to Liu Bei and finish him off. The second way is a much more challenging way to go about completing the level and may take a bit more time than the other. Ok, first do not leave the castle, let all the traps succeed, while waiting you can get the Life and Musou up in the top left room of the castle. Once all traps and ambushes have succeeded all enemy forces will head your way, to the castle. Zhang Fei will also appear at the supply depot inside the castle. Zhuge Liang and Liu Bei will appear there after. Now all the generals surrounding you will be Zhao Yun, Jian Yong, Liu Feng, Guan Xing, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Zhuge Liang, and Liu Bei. So have some fun and clean them all out. After you've defeated them all defeat Liu Bei and that will end the stage. Battle of Chang Ban (Cao Cao's Forces) {Level 10 Weapon - Zhen Ji} Difficulty: **** Level Changes: None Attack/Defense/Item pickups total: Attack +6, Defense +6, Items x5 My Method: This can be a very difficult level to complete no matter how good you are at the game, so I have come up with a great solution to easily completing the level. Your Commander is Cao Cao and the enemy Commander again is Liu Bei. You must defeat Liu Bei before he reaches the very South where his fleet is and he will escape resulting in a lose meaning you got to do that all over again, so follow these steps directly. First defeat Liao Hua at the Northwest entrance of the castle, do not enter the castle yet. Now move down the Western path until you meet Zhao Yun, he may challenge you to a duel, accept if desired, and defeat him. Move back again towards the Northeast entrance to the castle, Zhou Cang will be guarding that entrance, defeat him and move into the castle. Once in the castle all the doors will shut and you will be isolated and all of Zhuge Liang's troops including Sun Qian will attack you all at once. I recommend defeating all three Gate Captains in the castle very quickly. Settle in and defeat all Zhuge's troops and Sun Qian along with them, now the North entrances to the castle will open. A Life up and Musou up are in the bottom left and bottom right corners of the castle so get those if you need them. Move to the South of the castle where Zhuge Liang is, now be prepared to jolt it towards Liu Bei after you defeat Zhuge Liang cause Liu Bei will immediately try to run to his fleet. Defeat Zhuge Liang and the South entrances will open. Move quickly to Liu Bei who will come after you only once to once he spots you stay near him all the time or else he will retreat. Time and time Guan Yu and Liu Qi will arrive at your position with Liu Bei, defeat Liu Qi and Guan Yu. Mi Zhu may be around that area too, if so defeat him. Zhang Fei will probably have to be left alone cause you can't leave Liu Bei or he will retreat. Besides, Zhang Fei is too far away from your position anyway. Now that everyone is cleared out in that area, defeat Liu Bei to end the stage. Battle of Chi Bi (Cao Cao's Forces) {Level 10 Weapon - Cao Cao} Difficulty: **** Level Changes: If you defeated Zhuge Liang at Bo Wan Po previously, he will become much easier to defeat. If you cleared Chang Ban first there will be less Shu soldiers that appear. Attack/Defense/Item pickups total: Attack +14, Defense +12, Items x5 My Method: Here are two ways of completing the level. Either the Fire attack succeeds or it fails, whatever path you choose I have a method for both. Cao Cao is your Commander and Sun Jian is the enemy Commander this time. If you want the fire attack to succeed, first ignore all battle messages and take one path(West or East) and by the time you're done clearing out one side of the map, the Fire Attack will probably have succeeded. I first recommend taking the East side of the map because you want the Prayer for Wind successful. Taking the East path, first defeat Zhuge Jin and Zhu Ran, clear out all troops if desired and move down passed the first gate. You'll meet with Xu Sheng, defeat him. By this time Pang Tong's "Linked ships" will have occurred, Pang Tong will now retreat. Continue downward and defeat enemy general Cheng Pu, by this time Huang Gai's ship will have set sail. The Prayer for the Wind will have happened by now too, Zhuge Liang will now retreat. Defeat all the troops in that area to burn time and close both Gates in the area. Wait a while until Huang Gai starts the Fire attack and move towards the action. Defeat Zhou Yu's sub-general Ling Tong. Move up towards Huang Gai and defeat him. Move along the platform towards Gan Ning and his sub-general Han Dang. Lu Meng and Zhou Yu will have charged by now. Once you catch up to Gan Ning, defeat Han Dang and then Gan Ning, Zhao Yun will be there too, defeat him. When Lu Meng approaches, defeat him. Go to where Zhou Yu is and defeat his sub-general Pan Zhang and then defeat him. Now Cao Cao's Forces will all charge the enemy. Quickly defeat Sun Jian's sub-generals Jiang Qin, Zhu Huan, and Lu Su. There is a Life up near Cao Cao and to find the Musou up start from Sun Jian's main ship and go up one ship, go left one ship and it's on the Northeast part of that ship. Defeat Sun Jian to end the stage. If you desire to ruin the Fire attack here's my method of doing so. First encounter Pang Tong who is at the Northwest of the map. He will defect back to the Allied Forces and begin to retreat, now you have foiled the "Linked ships" ploy. Defeat him if you want to. Now go down to Zhuge Liang and defeat him before the Prayer for the Wind occurs(you have lots of time). Now when a Wei soldier announces that Huang Gai wished to surrender go to the place where he will arrive, it is indicated on the map if you watch closely. Go there and wait for him, if you're right where he will arrive then the Fire attack will not start right away, so be right there. Defeat Huang Gai once he arrives to foil the Fire Attack. Now defeat any generals or sub-generals that you please and defeat Sun Jian to end the stage. ---------- -Wei Tales- The Stalwart Ma Chao ---------- Battle of Tong Gate (Cao Cao's Forces) {Level 10 Weapon - Xu Zhu} Difficulty: ***** Level Changes: None Attack/Defense/Item pickups total: Attack +6, Defense +6, Items x3 My Method: In this Wei Tales stage your Commander is Cao Cao and the enemy Commander is Ma Chao. First you're gonna need to go to the Southeast area where Cheng Yin, Meng De, and Wei Yan will be lurking. Meng De is a sub-general of Wei Yan so if you defeat either Wei Yan or Cheng Yin, Pang De will charge out from Tong Gate. If you defeat him then Ma Dai will charge out from Tong Gate. Clean up that area by defeating all Meng De, Wei Yan, Cheng Yin, Pang De, and Ma Dai. Now move into Tong Gate and ignore Ma Chao and move to the river that is passable to the North of Ma Chao's camp, there is a Musou up in the river if you need that. Do not defeat any of Han Sui's sub-generals or soldiers until Cao Cao announces he will go meet with Han Sui while waiting there is a Life up near the Northwest Gate Captain, if you need it then go get it now. A few minutes after Cao Cao announces this he will encounter Han Sui. A cut-scene will appear and Han Sui will consider defecting. In order to get him to defect you need to deplete his morale to one star by defeating his sub-generals and/or soldiers. Once his morale reaches one star he will defect to your side. Now finish up the level by defeating Ma Chao. The Gate behind Ma Chao's initial position is a good place to get KOs if you're interested. ---------- -Wei Tales- Lu Bu's Revenge ---------- Lu Bu's Offensive (Cao Cao's Forces) Difficulty: ***** Level Changes: None Attack/Defense/Item pickups total: Attack +4, Defense +4, Items x1 My Method: I can't say I've played this level much, actually once, but I think I have a method on how to beat Lu Bu fast and fairly easy. First off defeat Gao Shun right away. Then kill off as many soldiers as you please until you desire to defeat Diao Chan. Once you desire this, defeat her at once, then a while later enemy reinforcements, Zang Ba, will appear. Easily defeat him and move onto Lu Bu. Defeat Lu Bu. There is a Musou up just outside the Northwest entrance to the castle. There is also one North of the bottom right Gate Captain. These can be helpful if you're someone such as... Xu Zhu, who's Musou is tremendously low. ---------- -Act V- The Fall of Wu ---------- Note: If the Fire attack at Chi Bi was successful, then Act 5 will be "The Fall of Shu". If the Fire attack at Chi Bi was unsuccessful, then Act 5 will be "The Fall of Wu". I'll continue the Walkthrough as if the Fire attack was unsuccessful. The Siege of Fan Castle (Wei's Forces) {Level 10 Weapon - Cao Ren} Difficulty: ***** Level Changes: If you played the Battle of Shi Ting first and in that stage you Cao Xiu was isolated by Zhou Fang's defection, then Zhou Fang will arrive as Wu's reinforcements. If Cao Xiu was NOT isolated then Cao Xiu will arrive as Wei's reinforcements. Attack/Defense/Item pickups total: Attack +12, Defense +12, Items x2 My Method: If you are not playing as Cao Ren this level may be very hard. Your Commander is Cao Ren for this battle and the enemy Commander is Sun Quan. You will start at the very Southeast corner regardless of what character you are in the Wei Forces. I have to methods for this level, one is the hard way, the other is easier. If you choose to play the level with difficulty then choose this method. First go straight to Taishi Ci's position and defeat Zhu Ran then Taishi Ci. 'fend off any soldiers in that area if desired. Now go South of Fan Castle where Zhou Tai is, defeat Xu Sheng and then Zhou Tai. By this time many siege weapons may have been set up and Cao Ren may be under attack already. Go help him and keep him alive by killing the Sub-Generals and Generals attacking him, they are Ling Tong, Sun Shang Xiang, Ding Feng, Lu Xun, Jiang Qin, and Lu Meng. Defeat them all. Sun Quan and his Sub-General won't be too far behind either, so defeat Cheng Pu and Sun Quan to end the stage. The difficult part is Cao Ren will be in trouble before you defeat Zhou Tai so you have to be quick before Cao Ren is defeated. The easier way to complete the level is to defeat all 4 siege weapons before more arrive. So first go North and defeat the Siege Ramp quickly that is moving to the East side of the castle. Then QUICKLY go the West side of the castle and defeat the Siege Ramp there, you should make it just in time to destroy it before it sets up. No destroy the North and South Catapults quickly. Now your entire army will have a morale boost and Cao Ren will not be defeated so easily. Now defeat Zhu Ran, Taishi Ci, Xu Sheng, Zhou Tai, Ling Tong, Sun Shang Xiang, Ding Feng, Lu Xun, Jiang Qin, Lu Meng, Cheng Pu, and finally Sun Quan. Battle of Shi Ting (Wei's Forces) Difficulty: ***** Level Changes: If you played Siege of Fan Castle first, then a Catapult will attack the castles main gate. Attack/Defense/Item pickups total: Attack +12, Defense +12, Items x3 My Method: In this level your Commander is Sima Yi and the enemy Commander is Lu Xun. In this level the main focus is the Zhou Fang defection. At first he will be on the Wei Forces, but later he will defect to Wu. It will be good for your allies if you prevent this. First off, go up the middle right path. Once you reach enemy General, Ding Feng, defeat him. He will say "I leave the rest to you Zhou Fang" after he's defeated. Now quickly move North from there and defeat the General Quan Zong. Now Cao Xiu will most likely be isolated by now due to Zhou Fang's defection, and a General and Sub-General will appear for the Wu Forces in ambush near Cao Xiu. You must save Cao Xiu by defeating Zhou Fang, Xu Sheng, and Zhu Zhi. Cao Xiu will retreat back to Sima Yi and that will boost your allies' morale. Now move along the middle left path. You will encounter Zhu Huan, defeat him and the main castles gates will open. Ambushes from each corner of the middle part of the map will appear. They will all be heading for Sima Yi, so you might want to give Sima Yi a hand. After saving Sima Yi's ass, go back to the middle left path where Huang Gai will have made his way to. Defeat him there and move towards the enemy’s main camp. Defeat Lu Xun's sub-general Zhuge Jin and then finish him off. There is a Life up just outside the castle and a Musou up in the bottom right corner of the castle. Get those if you need them. Battle of He Fei (Wei's Forces) Difficulty: ***** Level Changes: None Attack/Defense/Item pickups total: Attack +24, Defense +32, Items x3 My Method: This level may take several minutes and maybe close to an hour if you like to destroy enemy units one by one, patience is required. Your Commander is Cao Cao and the enemy Commander is Sun Jian. Defeating Sun Jian before he jumps the bridge will not end the stage, instead it will trigger the Taishi Ci ambush and Sun Jian will arrive for the final time beyond the broken bridge. First off you'll start at the top right area regardless of who you are, excluding Zhang Liao. First, as anyone besides Zhang Liao, move Southward and defeat Xu Sheng, and then Pan Zhang. Clean out that area if desired and continue South to Ding Feng. Defeat him and soon enough Sun Jian will have jumped the bridge and announce a full-scale attack. Lu Su will charge you, defeat him. Now go to the center part of the map where two of Sun Jian's sub-generals will be, Jiang Qin and Ling Tong, defeat them and move West. By now Lu Xun will have arrived and Gan Ning along with him. Lu Xun will be at the West part of the map and Gan Ning the East. Taishi Ci will have arrived near the center of the map as well. First defeat Taishi Ci and then move to the West part. Defeat Dong Xi and Zhu Ran. Now Cheng Pu and Lu Xun will have begun an attack towards the Western entrance of the castle. Catch up to them and defeat them. Now go way East where Gan Ning and Sun Jian will attack. Defeat Gan Ning and Sun Jian's Sub-general Han Dang. Then defeat Sun Jian. End of stage. In this level the Life up is right where Cao Cao's main force is on that upper level of the castle, and the Musou up is right in the center of the map, parallel to the Left gate. ---------- -Wei Tales- Dong Zhuo Lives! ---------- Dong Zhuo in Ji (Wei's Forces) Difficulty: ****** Level Changes: None Attack/Defense/Item pickups total: Attack +6, Defense +6, Items x2 My Method: This is basically a simple level, just defeat one Dong Zhuo general after another until Dong Zhuo appears. The map is small in size, throughout the level Cao Cao may be under attack more than once, but he'll survive. The Generals on Dong Zhuo's Forces are Dong Min, Zhang Ji, Wang Fang, Zhao Cen, Hu Zhen, Li Meng, Li Jue, Li Ru, Guo Si, Fan Chou, Niou Fu, and Xu Rong. Your Commander is Cao Cao and the enemy Commander is Dong Zhuo. The Life up in this level is Around the top left corner of the map. Musou up is in the fort where Cao Cao is (or starts), it's closer to the bottom and a bit to the right. ---------- -Final Act- The End of the Three Kingdoms ---------- Battle of Mt. Ding Jun (Wei's Forces) {Level 10 Weapon - Xiahou Yuan} Difficulty: ****** Level Changes: None Attack/Defense/Item pickups total: Attack +12, Defense +10, Items x4 My Method: I particularly don't like Mt. Ding Jun and I never have in Dynasty Warriors 3 either. Regardless of what I like I still have a method. In this level your Commander at first is Xiahou Yuan and then if he gets defeated or if a certain amount of time passes in the level, than Cao Cao comes as reinforcements and he is your Commander, and the enemy Commander is Liu Bei. First thing is that there are two prisoners and they make an exchange at the start of the level. Chen Shi(the Wei prisoner) will try to make it to the Shu Forces and Xiahou Shang(the Shu prisoner) will try to make it back to your forces. As a Wei character you start right behind Chen Shi, he has low life so you can defeat him or you can let him go and he will join the battle again with full life. First go right along the long path leading to the top of Mt. Ding Jun. When you get there Huang Zhong and his sub-general, Yan Yan. When you encounter Huang Zhong a cut-scene will appear and your character insults Huang Zhong in his/her own way. After this cut-scene just defeat Yan Yan and then Huang Zhong. Liu Bei will charge toward Mt. Ding Jun, move down the South path from Mt. Ding Jun. Zhao Yun will arrive around this time in that area. Defeat Zhao Yun. Keep along the South path and eliminate all the Gate Captains along the way if desired. Now the main Shu gates will open and Zhang Fei and Chen Shi will charge the Wei main camp. Pass by Liu Bei and defeat his sub-general Fa Zhang. Now move toward the main enemy camp where Liu Bei started and Zhuge Liang should be there. Defeat Zhuge Liang and go North from the main camp and Zhang Fei and Chen Shi will be attacking your forces, defeat Zhang Fei and Chen Shi. Now get to Liu Bei and defeat him. In this level Cao Cao will retreat if Yang Xiu is defeated. The Life up is along the North path leading to Mt. Ding Jun, it's beside the Gate Captain in the middle of the path. The Musou up is in the Shu's main camp, in the middle squared area, top left corner. Battle of Jie Ting (Wei's Forces) {Level 10 Weapon - Zhang He} Difficulty: ****** Level Changes: If you played Mt. Ding Jun first, Xiahou Yuan will arrive as reinforcements. Attack/Defense/Item pickups total: Attack +12, Defense +12, Items x2 My Method: This can be a rather enjoyable level, well it is to me. The initial enemy Commander is Ma Su, if you defeat him before Zhuge Liang arrives then the stage is over, if you do not defeat him in that time then Zhuge Liang will arrive as the enemy Commander after he's been surrounded or Ma Su has sent smoke signals(He will send smoke signals if you haven't defeated all three of his sub-generals in time). Your Commander is the highly Sima Yi. If you're playing as Zhang He then you will start at the Southern area of the map, if not, then you'll start within the Wei main camp in the Northern part of the map. First, head to defeat Wang Ping, you must hurry before Ma Su sends smoke signals. Then go South to defeat Liao Hua, and then South to defeat Gao Xiang, basically the idea is to first defeat all three sub-generals quickly. Now when Ma Su has been surrounded after you've defeated all three sub-generals, all the gates surrounding him will open. He will announce that he can't face the Prime Minister after this loss and he says he must lay at least one blow on Sima Yi and will charge towards the main camp. Seconds later, Zhuge Liang arrives with reinforcements, Zhao Yun and Wei Yan. Yue Ying also as his sub-general. Defeat Ma Su, then Wei Yan should charge right towards Ma Su's initial position, defeat Wei Yan. Zhao Yun is at the North part of the map, go towards him and defeat him. Now that all other units are destroyed, just go down near the main camp to the South. Defeat Yue Ying and then Zhuge Liang. The Life up is right in the very South area of the map, at the top right corner. The Musou up is in the Wei's main camp, top right corner of the fort, right near Sima Yi. Battle of Wu Zhang Plains (Wei's Forces) {Level 10 Weapon - Sima Yi} Difficulty: ****** Level Changes: If you defeated Chen Shi before he returned to enemy lines then Huang Zhong will arrive as enemy reinforcements. If you defeat Jiang Wei before Zhuge Liang arrives after the fake death then Yue Ying will arrive with Zhuge Liang to guard the Arbalests. If you played Jie Ting first before Wu Zhang Plains, then a supply team(Wooden Oxen) will appear. Attack/Defense/Item pickups total: Attack +24, Defense +16, Items x0 My Method: This will most likely be a long level if you play it the way I do. The enemy Commander is initially Zhuge Liang, but sooner or later there will be a cut-scene showing Zhuge Liang dying, but it's a fake death, then he arrives later after Sima Yi makes it to Jiang Wei. Then Zhuge Liang retreats back to the main camp and Liu Bei arrives, he is now the enemy Commander. Your Commander is Sima Yi and only Sima Yi. You will most likely always start off at the Western part or Eastern part of the map. Either way defeat Zhang Yi and Wei Yan on the Eastern, or Guan Xing and Ma Chao on the Western. Now go towards the enemies supply depot(Southwest). The general guarding the supply depot is Liao Hua, destroy your way through to him and at this time the Wooden Oxen will have appeared if you played Jie Ting first. Defeat all the Wooden Oxen to get a morale boost. Now defeat the supply captain, Liao Hua. A cut-scene showing your character slay Liao Hua and yelling something victory related will appear. Each character has an individual line in this cut-scene. Now go North from the supply depot and you'll meet Zhao Yun around there, defeat Zhao Yun to gain access to the enemies main camp. Zhuge Liang will have arrived from the fake death by now and Sima Yi will begin to retreat back to headquarters. Go to the East side of the map and defeat Gao Xiang and Ma Dai there, defeat Zhang Yi and Wei Yan if you did not beforehand. Now get to the center of the map and defeat Wang Ping, Jiang Wei's sub-general. When you approach Jiang Wei, Sima Yi will announce to defeat him because he controls the Arbalests. Defeat Jiang Wei or Yue Ying if you defeated Jiang Wei beforehand. Now enter the main camp and you'll meet Zhang Bao, defeat him and go to Zhuge Liang and defeat him then finish off Liu Bei. The Life up in this level is in the supply depot if the Wooden Oxen make it through battle lines safely, the Musou up is in the top East area, a bit South, beside the gate there. Battle of Cheng Du (Wei's Forces) Difficulty: ****** Level Changes: Wei Yan will defect if you leave him alone for a while in this battle. Attack/Defense/Item pickups total: Attack +25, Defense +24, Items x0 My Method: This WILL be a long level, so you must have patience. The enemy Commander is Liu Bei and your Commander is Cao Cao. First of all, Yue Ying and Zhuge Liang will tell Wei Yan not to attack yet and have patience. Start off by attacking from the South first. Defeat Mi Zhu, and then the general he's under, Ma Dai. Ignore going straight towards Wei Yan at this time, your allies won't attack him either. Go North instead when you reach the Bridge, Zhang Bao will arrive an ambush. Defeat Zhang Bao and get to your main camp. Wang Ping's army will be attacking Cao Cao by now. Defeat Wang Ping's sub-generals Liao Hua and Gao Xiang, then defeat Wang Ping. When you or your allies approach the castle Ma Su is located in an Arbalest unit will appear around that castle. Your allies' Ram will appear to knock down the walls. Defeat Guan Suo and Guan Xing. Now you will be allowed access to the castle, an ambush will appear when you enter the castle. Get to Ma Su and defeat him. Now Sima Yi will probably start to encourage Wei Yan to defect to the Wei forces. He will do so short after, now Wei Yan will charge towards Yue Ying. Get down there immediately. A new pass way will appear in the area from where Wei Yan is to the main camp. Enemy forest troops will start to appear in the forest. Zhang Yi will appear there. Liu Bei's main unit will now appear. When you got to the South pass way, defeat Li Yan and the Juggernauts will begin to attack. Defeat Yue Ying for them to stop. Now Go North and Mines will appear. Get to the main camp and defeat Jiang Wei and Ma Liang in that area. Now go towards the forest and Guan Yu will appear, defeat him. Now at the North part of the forest Guan Ping will appear if you go there. Defeat him and Zhang Yi. Ma Chao would have arrived by now at Luo Castle too. Backtrack and defeat him, for he is a threat to Cao Cao. Now get back to the enemies main camp and when you approach Liu Bei, a bunch of peasants will appear. Zhuge Liang will charge you too, clean out everything and defeat Zhuge Liang then Liu Bei. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 13.) CREDITS -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have written this in my own writing through my own experiences playing Dynasty Warriors 4, but I have used some peoples information and some people have helped me. Here are some people I owe thanks to. Thanks to: Koei: Mostly for Koei, thanks for making this series an unforgettable one. I've been with this series since Dynasty Warriors 2 and I've seen a lot of progress through the games and I'd like to say thanks to Koei for their amazing ability to make the best of games. CJayC: For making this awesome web site with endless progression. Muni Shinobu: For writing the Dim Sum and Fairy Wine locations. I used some of his information in that FAQ. Javelina: My good friend Javee for allowing me to use his very own Unlocking Tales Stages guide. Joe the Gamer: For supplying that awesome trick to kill Lu Bu at Hu Lao Gate faster (Check Orbs section under Blast Orb for more info). www.kongming.net: For the date of all the characters' death age and cause. Even though I wrote the biographies of each character from reading the Three Kingdoms novel myself, it’s always good to have confirmation. You: I thank you for reading my FAQ and I hope it has helped you in your problem (if you have one) in the game. If I haven't I'd like for you to e-mail me at my e-mail address at the beginning of the FAQ and tell me that I didn't help you with. I thank you anyway for reading my FAQ. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 14.) INFORMATION ON KOEI -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------- I. Dynasty Warriors Series -------------------- DYNASTY WARRIORS 4 XTREME LEGENDS Since you’ve bought Dynasty Warriors 4, I recommend going out and getting the add-on Dynasty Warriors 4 Xtreme Legends. Here is what’s been added to XL: 1. Lv.11 Weapon 2. More valuable items 3. Two new difficulties: Beginner and Expert 4. You can select all 42 officers at the beginning 5. You can transfer you DW4 saves 6. Highly improved edit mode New Modes: 1. Musou mode for each character (I think this is what they say) 2. Battle in randomly created maps 3. New challenge modes ---------- This series started on the PS1 where it was a regular fighter game like Street Fighter. They are still available at places like Gamestop or ebgames, so if you're looking to complete the collection or just try it out you should check it out. Dynasty Warriors 2 was a big hit in NA and Japan as it was a total different experience from the last Dynasty Warriors or any game at that matter. It also, in my opinion, supports the best in-game map designs in any Dynasty Warriors installment. Dynasty Warriors 3 was a bigger and better experience from Dynasty Warriors 3, it had different Weapon's and Item's added and tons more characters than Dynasty Warriors 2. It also supported Weapon and Item progression. Dynasty Warriors 4 changed the pace of the series with it's new style of Weapon progression, the addition of Orbs, and more saddles, items, and a few more characters. It was a huge hit in Japan and is moving along at a fast pace in NA. From when I first popped in my Dynasty Warriors 4 disk to the time I take it out at night, I know it feels like a total different experience. I've been playing it now almost every day since it's Canadian release on the 27th of March and I don't seem to get bored. Xtreme Legends has been an add-on to all Dynasty Warriors games since Dw3 and will most likely continue to be. Will KOEI ever stop making Dynasty Warriors games? Let’s hope not. -------------------- II. Dynasty Tactics Series -------------------- Dynasty Tactics is a great game full of strategy and patience. Although I don't have much to say about the series and I can't say I've played it much, but I recommend this game to anyone who's played Dynasty Warriors and liked it. The strategic basis teaches you to be more aware of what’s happening on the battlefield and will improve your understanding in warfare. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 15.)
