* Exported from MasterCook * Buttermilk Cake Recipe By : Serving Size : 1 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Cakes Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- Cake 1 c Butter 6 tb Unsweetened cocoa 1 c Water 2 c Flour 1 c Sugar 1 t Baking soda 1/2 c Buttermilk 2 ts Vanilla 2 ea Eggs -- lightly beaten Frosting: 1/2 c Butter 4 tb Cocoa 6 tb Buttermilk 1 ts Vanilla 2 c Powdered sugar In sauce pan melt butter & cocoa. Blend in water. Add flour, sugar, baking soda, buttermilk, vanilla and blend with electric mixer for 2 minutes. Add eggs and blend. Pour into greased 8" pan. Bake at 350 F for 25 minutes. Frosting: Over double boiler mix and melt butter/cocoa/buttermilk until quite hot. Add vanilla and sugar and beat until smooth. Add more sugar if too thin.
