MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06 Title: German Oatmeal Cake Categories: Cakes Yield: 1 servings MMMMM----------------------------CAKE--------------------------------- 1 c Quick cook oatmeal 1/2 c Butter 1 Bar; (4 oz) sweet German -chocolate, broken up 1 1/4 c Boiling water 1 1/2 c Flour 1 c Sugar 1 ts Baking soda 1/2 ts Salt 1 c Brown sugar 3 Eggs MMMMM---------------------CARMEL NUT TOPPING-------------------------- 3/4 c Brown sugar 1/2 c Nuts; chopped 1/4 c Cream; or evaporated milk 6 tb Butter Cake: Combine oatmeal, butter, chocolate, and boiling water in a bowl. Mix and set aside for 20 minutes. Combine flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, brown sugar, and eggs in a mixing bowl. Add the oatmeal mixture and beat until well combined. Pour into a greased and floured 9x13" pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 35-40 minutes. Carmel Nut Topping: Place ingredients in a saucepan. Place over medium heat--stirring constantly until mixture boils. Simmer for 2 or 3 minutes. Add nuts. Spread over WARM cake and place under broiler until topping bubbles.
