      Title: The Great Gatsby's Spicy Bars

      Yield: 1 servings
 
      1 c  Seedless raisins
      1 c  Water
    1/2 c  Salad oil or shortening
  1 3/4 c  Sifted flour
    1/2 ts Salt
      1 ts Soda
      1    Egg
      1 ts Cinnamon
      1 ts Nutmeg
      1 ts Allspice
    1/2 ts Ground cloves
      1 c  Sugar
    1/2 c  Chopped walnuts
 
     Combine raisins and water; bring to boiling; remove from heat. Stir in
  salad oil.  Cool to lukewarm. Stir in sugar and egg. Sift together dry
  ingredients; beat into raisin mixture. Stir in nuts. Pour into greased
  13x9x2-inch pan.
   Bake in moderate oven (375) 20 minutes or till done.  When cool, cut in
  bars.  Dust with confectioner's sugar.
