      Title: Chocolate Chip Date Nut Squares

      Yield: 1 servings
 
  1 3/4 c  Flour
      2 tb Cocoa
    1/2 ts Salt
      1 c  Dates; chopped
      1 c  Water; boiling
      1 ts Baking soda
      1 c  Shortening
      2    Eggs; beaten
      1 pk Chocolate bits
      1 c  Sugar
      1 ts Vanilla
      1 c  Nuts; chopped
 
     Sift together flour,cocoa and Salt,set aside. Combine dates, water and
  soda let cool.Cream shortening and sugar,add eggs and vanilla. Add dry
  ingredients and date mixture alternating. Pour into greased 9x12 pan.
  Sprinkle with choc. bits and nuts,Press them in. Bake at 350 for 45
  minutes.Cut into bars.
