---------- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05 Title: Mocha Bars Categories: Cookies Yield: 30 servings 1/4 c Butter 1 c Packed brown sugar 1 Egg; room temp 1 c Unbleached white flour; -sifted 1/2 ts Salt 1 ts Baking powder 1/4 c Cold extra-strong black coff -ee 1 1/2 ts Vanilla 1/2 c Semisweet chocolate chips 1/2 c Finely chopped nuts Recipe by: St. Louis Post-Dispatch 5/27/96 Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a saucepan, melt butter. Add brown sugar and stir until dissolved. Let mixture cool, then beat in egg. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder and add to butter-egg mixture alternately with the cold coffee. Blend in the vanilla and stir in the chocolate chips and nuts. Turn into a well-greased 9-inch baking pan. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.Cut into small squares. 2 1/2 to 3 dozen bars. Note: For neater bar cookies, line the baking pan with foil before greasing. When the bars have finished baking, let them cool a few minutes in the pan. Flip the uncut bars onto a wire rack; remove the foil and let cool completely, then cut into squares. Bars will cut without ragged edges. By Tina Danze. -----
