---------- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05 Title: Chocolate Toffee Bars Categories: Cookies Yield: 12 servings 1/4 c Packed brown sugar 3 tb Margarine or butter 1/2 c All-purpose flour 1 Egg; beaten 1/2 c Packed brown sugar 1 tb All-purpose flour 1/2 ts Baking powder 1/2 ts Vanilla 1/4 ts Salt 1/2 c Semisweet chocolate chips 1/2 c Chopped nuts Chocolate glaze 1 tb Cocoa 1 tb Margarine or butter 1 tb Water 1/2 c Powdered sugar Recipe by: Betty Crocker's Microwave 1. Mix 1/4 cup brown sugar and the margarine. Stir in 1/2 cup flour. Press firmly and evenly in bottom of square dish, 8 X 8 X 2 inches. Elevate dish on inverted dinner plate in microwave oven. Microwave uncovered on medium (50%) 4 to 6 minutes, rotating dish 1/4 turn after 2 minutes, until mixture appears almost dry. Let stand uncovered about 5 minutes. 2. Mix egg, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 tablespoon flour, the baking powder, vanilla and salt. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Spread over cooked layer. Microwave uncovered on medium (50%) 7 to 10 minutes, rotating dish 1/4 turn every 3 minutes, until top begins to lose glossiness. Cover loosely and let stand 5 minutes. 3. Prepare Chocolate Glaze; drizzle over top. Cut into about 2 X 1-1/4-inch bars. Refrigerate about 30 minutes or until chocolate is firm. 24 BARS; 105 CALORIES PER BAR. CHOCOLATE GLAZE 1. Place cocoa, margarine and water in 2-cup measure. 2. Microwave uncovered on high 20 to 30 seconds or until margarine is melted; stir. Mix in powdered sugar until smooth. -----
