---------- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05 Title: Crunchy Chocolate-Nut Bars Categories: Cookies, Chocolate Yield: 24 servings --- crust:;- 1/2 c Butter or margarine 1/2 c Packed light brown sugar 1 Egg yolk 1 ts Vanilla extract 1/2 c All-purpose flour 1/2 c Rolled oats; not instant --- topping:;-- 3 Semisweet chocolate squares 1 tb Margarine 1/2 c Nuts; chopped Recipe by: Jo Anne Merrill Preparation Time: 0:20 1. Crust: In large bowl, beat margarine, sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla until smooth, using an electric mixer. Add flour and oats; stir until well combined. 2. Press mixture in bottom of a lightly greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Bake in preheated 375-degree oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Cool slightly. 3. Topping: Melt chocolate and margarine over hot, not boiling, water. Spread over warm cookie crust. Sprinkle evenly with coarsely chopped nuts. 4. While still warm, cut into bars using a sharp knife. Let cool completely before removing from pan. Yield: about 2 dozen bars. -----
