---------- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05 Title: NANCY REAGAN'S VIENNA BARS Categories: Bar cookies, Desserts, Celebrity Yield: 2 Dozen -Mary Wilson BWVB02B 1 c Butter (2 sticks) 1 1/2 c Sugar; divided 2 Egg yolks 2 1/2 c Flour 1/4 ts Salt 1 Jar jelly, (strawberry or - raspberry) (10 oz) 4 Egg whites 2 c Nuts; finely chopped In mixing bowl, cream butter and 1/2 cup of the sugar. Beat in egg yolks. Add flour and salt; knead with fingers. Pat batter out on greased 9x9 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes, or until lightly browned. Remove from oven, spread with jelly. Beat egg whites until stiff. Fold in remaining 1 cup sugar and nuts. Spread on top of jelly. Return pan to oven. Bake 25 minutes longer. Cut into squares while still warm. Makes about 2 dozen. -----
