---------- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05 Title: Thick & Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies Categories: Cookies Yield: 18 servings 2 1/8 c Flour 2 c.+2t. unsifted 1/2 ts Salt 1/2 ts Baking soda 12 tb Butter; melted/cooled 1 c Brown sugar; light or dark 1/2 c Granulated sugar 1 lg Egg plus 1 Egg yolk 2 ts Vanilla extract 1 c Chocolate chips; (1 to 2) Recipe by: COOK'S ILLUSTRATED Turn oven 325 deg and adjust oven racks to upper & lower middle positions. 1. Mix flour & soda in bowl. set aside. 2. mix butter & sugars until thoroughly blended. mix in egg, yolk, & vanilla. 3. add dry ingredients mix until just blended 4. add chips 5. form scant 1/4 cup dough ball. holding ball using fingertips of both hands, pull the ball apart in equal halves. rotate 90 degrees and , with jagged ends up put back together at base to make single cookie. you want the topsuneven ; 6. make about 9 per sheet on parchment paper 7. bake reversing cookie sheets position halfway through baking, until cookies are light golden brown and outer edges start to harden, yet centers are soft & puffy, 15 to 18 min. start checking at 13 min.
