MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Poor Man's Cookies
 Categories: Cookies, Snacks, Grains
      Yield: 12 Cookies

      1 c  Shortening
      1 c  Brown sugar; packed
    1/2 c  Sugar
    1/4 c  Water
      1 ts Vanilla extract
      1 c  A-P flour
      1 ts Baking soda
    1/4 ts Salt
      2 c  Rolled oats

  In a large bowl, cream shortening and sugars until light and
  fluffy. Beat in water and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda,
  and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Fold in
  oats.

  Drop dough by tablespoonfuls onto greased baking sheets. Bake @
  350 F/175 C for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to
  stand 2 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool.
