                     Chocolate Covered Cherry Cookies

   1      cup           flour
     1/2  cup           cocoa
     1/4  tsp.          baking powder
     1/4  tsp.          baking soda
     1/4  tsp.          salt
     1/2  cup           margarine
   1      cup           sugar
   1                    egg
   1      tsp           vanilla
     1/2  C             Eagle brand condensed milk
   6      oz.           semi sweet chocolate chips
   1      2 oz. jars    maraschino cherries
                        (drain and reserve syrup)

Stir together first 5 dry ingredients.  Beat margarine and sugar; then add
egg and vanilla.  Gradually add flour mixture until blended.  Shape dough
into 48 1+ balls on ungreased cookie sheets.  Press down center with thumb.
 Put well drained cherry in center.

Melt chocolate chips and milk over low heat.  Stir in 4 tsp. reserved cherry
syrup.  Spoon 1 tsp. frosting over each cherry.  Spread to cover.

Bake at 350o for 8-10 minutes.
