MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06 Title: Sweet Green Tomato Pie Categories: Pies, Southern us, Dessert Yield: 8 Servings 1 1/2 lb Breen tomatoes; (6 to 8 md) 2 tb Lemon juice 1 ts Lemon zest; grated 1/2 ts Salt 1/4 ts Ground cinnamon 3/4 c Granulated sugar 2 tb Corn starch 1 tb Butter 1 Pastry; for a 9" 2-crust pie Wash the green tomatoes well; peel and slice. In a saucepan, combine tomatoes with lemon juice, zest, salt, and cinnamon. Cook the spiced tomato mixture over low heat, stirring frequently. Combine sugar and corn starch; stir into tomato mixture. Cook mixture until clear, stirring constantly. Add butter, remove from heat, and let stand until slightly cooled. Line a 9" pie plate with pastry; pour in tomato mixture. Cover with top pastry, seal edges, crimp, and cut slits in crust to allow steam to escape. Bake at 425 F for 35 to 45 minutes, or until browned. Serve warm or cool.
