      Title: Bran Muffins
 Categories: Muffins
      Yield: 1 Batch
 
    1/4 c  Crisco; room temperature
    1/2 c  Brown sugar
      1    Egg; unbeaten
  1 1/2 c  Sourdough
      1 c  Chopped dates
  1 1/2 c  Bran Flakes; (cereal)
      1 c  Flour
    1/2 ts Salt
    1/2 ts Baking soda
      1 ts Baking powder
 
  Cream Crisco and sugar, add unbeaten egg and beat until smooth and
  creamy. Stir in sourdough and bran flakes. Let stand 10 minutes. Add
  dates and stir in. Sift flour, salt, soda and baking powder over
  misture. Stir just enough to blend together. Bake in greased muffin
  pans 15-20 minutes in a 400 degree F oven, until golden brown. Freeze
  well.
