                       Pure White Royal Buttercream

     1/4  cup           meringue powder
   2      pounds        confectioners' sugar
   1 1/2  cup           vegetable shortening 6 tablespoons water
   1      tablespoon    clear flavoring (a tinted flavoring will
                        -- change color or the
                        icing)

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix at slow speed until smooth.
Add a few drops of water, if needed.

Yield: enough to fill and cover a 2 layer 9-inch cake
