* Exported from MasterCook * Kosher Garlic Dills Recipe By : Lisa Lepsy Serving Size : 7 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Pickles Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 40 md Cucumbers -- cut lengthwise in - half 3/4 c Sugar 1/2 c Pickling salt 3 tb Mixed pickling spice 1 qt Water 1 qt Vinegar Pack in Jar: 1 Bay leaf 1 cl Garlic 1/2 ts Mustard seed 1 sm Red pepper piece 1 sm Dill head Combine sugar, water, salt, and vinegar. Tie spices in cheesecloth and add to mixture. Simmer 15 minutes. Pack cucumbers into hot sterilized jars leaving 1/4" head space. Add bay leaf, garlic, mustard seed, small head of dill, and pepper to the jar. Heat the brine to a hard boil, pour boiling hot over cucumbers, leave 1/4" head space for liquid too.
