                             CUCUMBER PICKLES

   6      pounds        pickling cucumbers
     2/3  cup           green pepper -- chopped
   1 1/2  cups          celery -- chopped
   6      medium        onions -- sliced
     1/4  cup           prepared mustard
     2/3  cup           vinegar
   4      cups          vinegar
     1/2  cup           salt
   3 1/2  cups          sugar
   2      tablespoons   mustard seed
     1/2  teaspoon      tumeric
     1/2  teaspoon      whole cloves
   3      tablespoons   celery seed
   1 1/2  teaspoons     alum

Blend mustard with 2/3 cup vinegar;  then add 4 cups vinegar along with the
rest of the ingredients.  Cover and Bring to a boil.  Reduce to a simmer and
begin packing into hot, sterilized jars.  Seal at once.  Makes 9 pints.
