* Exported from MasterCook * Nasi Goreng (Fried Rice) Recipe By : Timo Metzemakers via Chile-heads Serving Size : 1 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Indonesian Pork Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 lb Pork or beef -- cubed 1/2" 1 c Onions -- chopped 2 cl Garlic -- chopped 3 tb Fresh red chile (sambal ulek) -- - chopped or crushed 6 tb Sweet soy sauce - (ketjap manis) -OR- 5 tb Soy sauce -- plus: 2 tb Sugar 2 tb Vegetable oil -- up to 4 tb 2 lb Cooked white rice -- up to 3 lb Salt Heat oil in a deep-fryer, pot, or wok. Deep fry the meat until the outside of the cubes starts to turn light brown. Add the onions and the garlic, and reduce the heat. When the onions become light brown, add the crushed chile and the soy sauce. Fry the mixture at medium-low heat for 5 minutes, then add the rice, and mix well. Reduce the heat and cook for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Taste and add salt if necessary. Serve with pickled chiles, omelette, and prawn crackers. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
