* Exported from MasterCook * Marshmallow Chicks and Bunnies Recipe By : Table Talk's Cook Book, 1897, The Sunshine Press Serving Size : 1 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Candy Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 bag large marshmallows Vegetable spray for coating molds Cornstarch for dusting molds COATING OPTIONS 1 bag chocolate chips (6 ounces) -- melted with 1 tsp. vegetable shortening 1 cup sugar -- tinted with food coloring 1/2 cup freshly grated or canned coconut 1/2 cup nuts -- finely chopped Mini chocolate chips -- unmelted Candy sprinkles Over medium-low heat melt marshmallows, stirring constantly. When mixture is melted, pour into molds or open cookie cutters that have been sprayed with vegetable spray and lightly dusted with cornstarch. If using sugar, coconut, nuts, or mini-morsels, immediately sprinkle tops with them. When mixtures have firmed slightly, remove molds or cutters and roll in more of the coating. If dipping, allow marshmallows to cool completely before dipping. TO DIP Melt chocolate pieces with vegetable shortening in a shallow dish in the microwave on 50 percent power for 4 minutes, stirring as needed. Remove, and keep mixture warm over bowl of hot water. Dip marshmallows one at a time, using fork to allow mixture to drip back into bowl. Dry until set on wire rack. Makes 16 2-inch figures. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
