* Exported from MasterCook * Spinach Pasta Sauce Recipe By : Taste of Home, Dec/Jan 1996 Serving Size : 8 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Herbs Sauces Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 1/2 lb Bulk mild Italian Sausage 3 c Fresh mushrooms -- sliced 1/2 c Carrot -- chopped 1/2 c Green pepper -- chopped 1/2 c Onion -- chopped 28 oz Can crushed tomatoes 15 oz Can tomato sauce 6 oz Can tomato paste 1/2 c Parmesan cheese -- grated 1/2 c Beef broth or red wine 3/4 ts Aniseed 3/4 ts Seasoned salt 3/4 ts Garlic powder 3/4 ts Brown sugar 3/4 ts Dried oregano 4 c Fresh spinach -- - coarsely chopped Cooked pasta -- hot 2 c Mozzarella cheese -- shredded 1/4 c Bacon -- cooked, crumbled In a Dutch oven, cook and crumble sausage until browned; drain. Add mushrooms, carrot, green pepper, and onion; saute for 5 minutes. Add tomatoes, sauce, paste, parmesan, broth, and seasonings; cover and simmer for 1 hour. Add spinach; heat through.
